whats up with gears this weeek?
Been playing Gears 3 multiplayer lately. Wanted to get some more XP two weeks ago and that turned into a genuine love affair with the multiplayer and co-op modes. I suck at TDM and CTL but everything else is so much fun to me. I work better in multiplayer games where the objective is more than just being a mass murderer. Anyway, I really have taken a liken to Azure for beast and horde despite so many lines of sight being blocked by walls and other obstructions. Makes for a lot of hot and cold spots on the map. I HATED Rustlung for horde mode though. Dear me what an annoying ass map for Horde.
With that said I’m looking forward to the delight that will be Blood Marsh and Clocktower Thursday. I will certainly be playing Gears 3 more than any other console multiplayer/co-op game ever.
I have GoW as well. I don’t play too often but add me on XBL if you need someone to party with.
yeah i hope the new maps are good. there are very few maps in gow3 that i like. gow2 maps took a dump on like every gow3 map or maybe im to nostalgic…
I’m super excited for Clocktower, hopefully they didn’t derp it with ash people and make it night time.
Gridlock in 1 and 2 was at a dock, if you looked out to the horizon it was all water, now in 3 it’s some hammerstrike’d city? Fuck you cliffyb.

Clocktower looks good. I’ll miss the very light shade of sepia-green that map had in 1 but it’s trivial really.

Gears of War 3 is what Gears of War 2 should have been in my opinion. Ive been a hardcore gears fan since the first and am satisfied
with the way Gears of War 3 turned out. As we all know in the past Epic was finding ways to destroy instead of help the game during
its second installment of the series. In Gears 2 the main problems were…
-lack of dedicated servers
-lack of care for the competitive community
-unstable and inaccurate shotgun
-slow game pace
This was all a major turn off for me in Gears of War 2. I stayed with the game for a long time and tried
to make it work but it didn’t. I feel in Gears 3 all of these problems have been fixed and even new cooler
features added. For examlpe, the ability to change skins for your gun.
Despite the major improvements in the game i’m worried that the community is no as large as it
used to be. In the past (2007, Gears of War 1) gears videos on youtube would reach to 1,00,000 views.
Nowadays the top Gears youtubers don’t even reach 10k for every video they post. It just seemed to be
a lot more people playing and presently I feel as that part of the fan base has left to other games.
Despite this I can’t wait to see if MLG picks up Gears of War 3 for the upcoming year. I hope it works out
competitively because it might give me a reason to follow MLG for once in the past 2 years.
If CoD wasn’t such an institution then Gears would be more popular. Not to mention Skyrim siphoning off players too.
Yeah that is exactly how I feel about the situation. The game in my opinion should have been released at the original date which was May of 2011. That
way it wouldn’t have so much competition and it could have grown a larger fan base. I’m not exactly sure on the details of why it was released later on
in year either.
Because Microsoft had no heavy hitters this fall besides this and Forza 4 (Halo HD doesn’t count). The timing wasn’t bad at all as GoW3 sales are amazing. So it’s not that people don’t have the game, the institution of CoD is just that much stronger. If the DLC is (and so far has been) spread out properly we’ll get spikes in players everytime.
CoD is only more popular because it’s easier. And even still it was the least popular game on the Pro Circuit with the least amount of turn out.
Gears is considered hard? It just takes practice and understanding of the nuances to gameplay. Kinda reminds me of a fighting game a bit at times, all that positioning and timing and rhythm. My favorite dance is the sawed off roll, reload, fire, repeat dance.
IF you aren’t playing cluckshot you are missing out for real. Omg it’s so hilarious seeing feathers everywhere plus it’s a great opportunity to rack up kills for the map specific weapon medal (cluckshot counts as a map specific weapon).
