I didn’t play the 1st game and story mode caught me up on everything. You’re good to go. And playing on hardcore will definitely get you used to the game. But the best exp is just playing online and figuring everything out.

I have it coming in through Gamefly. I like the first Gears but the multiplayer was red hot garbage. Basically play through the story and try Horde mode and send it back.
