yeah, thanks for the insight dreaded fist, but i want something bigger. i agree with voodazz; having a small tablet is really gay. though i dont like drawing THAT much that i will go spend $279 on a intuos. i think i will get a graphic3 (6"x8") or something.
what incredible eloquence.
do you all really draw right in front of your computers?
i wanna see everyones desks.
i’m really dying to see what SFMC’s and SWEET’s art desks look like …
Here is my portfolio. When i get back from my trip maybe I’ll post my workspace.
hey, sfmc, can you link a pic of the original sagat v. guy pic (pencils) ?
damn i just use a #2 pencil, a .5 mechanical pencil, a white rubber eraser, and a scanner. i am the suck.

Left to Right:
Epure Maped Eraser: Very nice medium softness eraser. Kind of like what you would get if you bred a kneaded eraser with a white rubber one.
2B drawing pencil…I’m not picky about brand, but I got used to buying the Steadtler ones.
.5 Mechanical Pencil loaded with Blue or Red leads: Great for underdrawings.
.5 Mechanical Pencil loaded with B lead: for general use and detail work.
Farber Castell Pitt artist pens: 4-pack, small, fine, medium, and brush. Probably one of the disposable tech pens with the best ink, although I don’t feel like they write as smoothly as Microns.
Tachikawa Manga Pen: Cartridge ink pen with a stiff croquill-like nib. You can get a little variation, but not a lot. [EDIT] I don’t really use this anymore. It became very finicky after a while and gave me really skippy lines.
Pigma Graphic No. 1: Black and thick. Useful when you need a thick uniform line.
Pigma Micron No 01: Thin disposable tech pen. Not the best ink, but I like how the tip feels.
Pigma Micron No 005: Even thinner version of the above. [EDIT] I also use an 05, and an 08 for thicker lines.
Raphael Kolinsky Red Sable No 2 Watercolor Brush: The only inking brush you will ever need. I love this brush.
Kooh-i-noor Rapidograph ink: Nice velvety black waterproof ink. [EDIT] I also like FW Acrlic Artists Ink.
White Gouache: Use with your brush as white out. [EDIT] I stopped using gouache because it’s not waterproof. Deleter White, Winsor Newton White, and Pro White are good white outs.
C-Thru 18" Grid Ruler: Very useful measuring tool. You have to try to make an unstraight line.
Drafting Brush: No smears, no spit. Just an eraser-shaving free drawing.
Darn! I was going to do a picture just like that! The Perfect Balanced Pencil…
hhehe chain whore i have a brush like that also. yeah no more blowing eraser markings out. Does lead pencil fills only come in blue and red? I been looking for brown or some other color, but only have blue and red too.
chainwhore, I see you also have the tachikawa pen, and the Kooh-I-Nor rapidomatic mechanical pencil. Very good pencil .
I haven’t seen any colors of lead refills other than red, blue, yellow, and green. Brown would be kind of cool. I like using the red or blue ones just fine though. Since they are primary colors, they are easily gotten rid of using channels in photoshop, so you can have magically clean drawings with minimal effort.
actually they do make brown and a blackish color. at least they did like a year or two ago when i bought mine …
Damn, this thread musta came about when my comp had that virus. Ah well…
I feel like shit cuz all I have is a no.2 Roseart pencil… I’m lucky to find any pens where I’m at. And now my tab’s out for awhile… Slow comp too.
I’ve been using brush pens a lot. The kind with actual bristles, not the felt tip kind. Pictures and more info soon if anyone is interested. The rest of my arsenal is pretty much the same as the picture I posted from before, except I’ve added a white gel pen for making quick white lines.
I’d like to ask you something, guys… To have the final-art on pcs you all use those pencil-mouse…? I don’t know how you call them…
Um…
I use Lead pencils and I just got a big fat sharpie and some skinny sharpies.
I have pink pearl erasers which are sucky.
I draw on either my stupid sketch pad thingy, or on computer paper.
That’s all.
I guess I like need to upgrade my gear or something.
I still use the broken 2B pencil I found on the street two years ago… I dont have a sharpener so I use my teeth.
Pencils, clutch, mechanical pencils (including 0.3mm), erasers, etc…
I do have a self-made lightbox though.
http://frozen-studios.com/lightbox/index.html
my “gear” consists of:
0.5mm mechnaical pencil
2B lead
clicky eraser
any paper I can get my hands on >:P
and my work PC
sucks to be me.
Landel - nice lightbox
