It’s really none of my business and I’m about as impatient but I think that question has been asked way too little time ago to expect any major change !
I’ve just recently watched a bunch of Garou matches and I don’t know if it’s just me but it showed me that this game can be played much differently from what I always thought. What’s with all these cancels I’m seeing? Not the breaks, I know what those are. But for example, I’ve seen Terry players do s.C and then start the burning knuckle animation only to cancel it into another s.C. Sorry if these are noob questions and have been answered already. I used to play this game quite a bit before but I never knew about these techniques.
That is a feint cancel, using f+AC or d+AC. Everyone has two feints (which are “fake” moves). You can use these to chain multiple normals as well.
Cool. I get it now. I have trouble doing the combos in the matches I’ve seen but I guess because I’m not used to them yet.
It may depend on the videos you’re trying to copy. There are some match videos on combovideos that I sincerely don’t think are humanly possible, and some of the combo videos use prototype roms. If you just want to practice some feint combos, pick Terry, and practice sc.C (feint) c.C for a while, then progress to sc.C (feint) sc.C (feint) c.C and then graduate to sc.C (feint) sc.C (feint) c.C xx super of choice. Terry has the best feint combos in the game, and a bad ass guard crush game. If you have awesome execution, try this string out:
[sc.C (feint) sc.C (feint) c.C xx f,f+C]xN. The sc.C can link after a f,f+C, but the c.C xx f,f+C doesnt combo, so there is a small window of opportunity for someone to escape it. Once you guard crush, or they get hit, you have plenty of time to do cancel the c.C into a super instead of the power charge. Use Terry’s f+AC for his feint, since it moves him forward some, the only feint in the game to do so.
Thanks. Most of the matches I have of this game are from Howard Arena. But yeah, once I saw a match of Terry using his feint cancels, I was in awe. The opponent was pinned and were in danger of being guard crushed after feint cancelled s.Cs. But yeah, so far I’m simply practicing sc.C (feint cancel) c.C first.
Yo, H-F Blade, check this thread out if you want to play some of us SoCal peeps.

We get together every month or 2 to play the game and we help eachother get better. You should come by sometime if you’re interested in learning the game. Next meet might be in Jan.
:tup:
…and all that Terry canceling his Standing C & shit is sort of like whoring Chun’s pokes. In Terry’s case, it’s to cause Guard Crush. Seriously ppl, can Terry be played in another way than as an Anti-Turtler?
Uh, why not play him that way? You use and abuse your characters strengths and opponent’s weaknesses, while minimizing your opponent’s strengths and your weaknesses. Art of War 101. That’s like asking a Tizoc to play without those rediculous throws.
Exactly. Not to mention that turtling is not so very clever in Garou, except if you’re a GC master… and even then I wouldn’t abuse it.
Seriously Toodles, your comparison with a throwless Griffon sent a chill down my spine !
Any Gato advanced combos? I asked before but received nothing.
Here ya go:
Jumping :snkc:–>Standing :snkc:–>:qcf:+:p:, :r::r:+:p:
Jumping :snkc:–>:d:+:snka::snkb:–>:dp:+:snka::snkb: 3 times
Corner: Jumping :snkc:–>Standing :snkc:–>:dp:+:snkb:–>:qcf::qcf:+:p:
Corner: Jumping :snkc:–>:d:+:snka::snkb:–>:qcb:+:snkd:, :snkb:–>:qcb:+:snkb:, :snkb:–>:dp:+:snkb:–>:qcf::qcf:+:snkc:
^Another way of doing it is as such-
Corner: Jumping :snkc:–>:d:+:snka::snkb:–>:qcb:+:snkd:, :snkb:–>:qcb:+:snkb:, :snkb:–>:qcb:+:snkb:, :snkb:–>:dp:+:snkb:–>:qcf::qcf:+:snkc:
For both of the above combos, the :qcb:+:snkb: won’t hit the opponent, you just want the :snkb: juggle
There have been combos posted already for Gato before you just need to check the pages till you see combos for Gato. Here are some that were already posted:
(Corner) Jump B, A, land, walk in a bit, stand D for 2 hits, down + A or B, qcfx2 + A or C
Just need to time the walk in just right so you have time to still combo everything together. If not you might end up whiffing the super in the end. For bigger characters like Tizoc/The Griffon and Grant you don’t really need to walk in.
(Corner) Jump B, A, land, stand D for 1 hit, dp + D, break (A+B), qcb + B, B, DP + B, qcfx2 + A or C.
(Corner) Jump B, A, land, stand D for 1 hit, qcb + D, B, qcb + B, B, dp + B, qcfx2 + A or C.
Its possible to land another qcb + B, B before the super, but the timing is pretty tricky to get down. You have to get the first B juggle to juggle them at a good height to get the rest to hit right. Practice the qcb + B, B until it becomes second nature.
I’ll post more late have to get going, take care.
Just a quick question, because I just have Garou back somewere next week. Is it possible to connect with Terry’s c.C, s.A, ff+A,ff+a,ff+A midscreen against the big chars?
Honestly, without feints I’m afraid you’ll be facing some lag at some point which may lead to punishment but I admit I didn’t launch any training mode to confirm, it’s just that I don’t see how to link the c.C without feint cancelling.
The stun from the c.C is long enough for the s.A to connect. In the corner you can get the mentioned combo if you are really close, but there are better options. Midscreen the thing would be nice, but I know it doesn’t work on small chars. It is kinda the same like the s.C, f+C into Power Dunk. This also just works in the corner and is not that easy to time. Someone on fierceslash gave me once the hint with s.C, f+C …
My bad, I’ll give it a try asap
Holy crap, I thought for sure you meant sc.C and went to check the frame data. c.C is +6???
Terry_nb: I’ll check when I get home if noone else answers. You want PS2, DC, AES, or MVS version?
@Toodles
Crouching C- 11 / +6 says the data from Kouga, but there could be 2 Frames or so difference. He talked about it back then …
However thx for doing the testing and I need it for DC and MVS. I maybe buy the PS2 version one day, but I don’t have the money right now.
