Garou: MOTW Thread

I’m already in work on one so don’t worry about it…

Sweet, do you have a lay out, so we know your not missing anything

I know for a fact that I have everything everyone needs to know planned out and some new stuff as well.

That’s great news Noc ! Still collaborating with Thongboy?

Ya know I’ve been thinking of a Tizoc tutorial vid for some time now XD.
Heck I don’t mind being a part of a team making a Garou Tutorial vid, though I’d mainly contribute combos :P, but hey I’d be in for it.

good to hear this!

Nice idea you’ve had there, that Griff tuto.
Well I’ve got my hands full at the moments regarding game vids but you can count me in. I’ll ask Maker if he’s interested (though Big Bird’s not exactly his field ^^). I’ll just have to tell him : it’s tuto man, no insane combos or proto exploits here!

I do want to make a “100 Club” video for GMotW. Anyone up to helping?

No Thongboys been gone from SRK for months now if you haven’t noticed…he’s pretty busy I’m sure with work and life. It’s going to be a video by me and Master Giby, right now we will be the ones doing the footage and editing and all. We already have a layout of everything that is going to be in the tutorial on paper. Footage shouldn’t take long but editing might take a bit, we will have it done as soon as we can. Giby is pretty busy and I have work mainly but when we have time off on the same day we usually meet up and work on stuff for it. I’m sure that once we have it all done someone will at least learn something new I’m sure from watching the tutorial. It’s mainly going to cover everything you should know in order to play Garou at a higher level. Should also be pretty simple to understand the way we will have it done. Take care.

Hmm didn’t u make a Garou combo vid before? I think I’ve seen it in ComboVideos.com.
Gonna go dl it.

If its even there…

It’s still there, funny thing is though that I never submitted that video to them they just put it on their site. Never gave me any kind of warning or anything about posting it on their site. I never intended for it to be shown out all over the net like that, one of my first combo videos ever made. I can say though that the tutorial and new combo video shall be a lot better. Take care.

You will be posting it at the Fighting Game Disscussions Forum right? If you post it here, that won’t be helping the Garou love IMO.

Yo some stuff I TOTALLY forgot to mention!
1- Tizoc’s :l::db::qcf:+:snkb: is SLOW & has the same range as his 360+:snkc:. Wonder if it works in the same fashion as Makoto’s :r::df::qcb:+:k:?
2- Rock’s 360+:snkc: can beo done as either:-
:l::db::qcf::uf:+:snkc: OR :r::df::qcb::ub:+:snkc:
That’s how I do it on my keyboard anyways.

Nice vid, Nocturnal mind if I post it at another forum?

GO BANG!s this thread back up!
So yeah can someone help me improve my Grant & Freeman? Thanks.

Have you dloaded the Match vids at HowardArena Akutabi? They have good Freeman stuff I can assure you. Also if you dig back some old stuff in SRK you are bound to find Grant stuff as well.

All it will take is a little research and you will find what you seek PROMISE.

My Grant is solid. What you wanna know? Three things every Grant should know, day 1:

  1. Be able to do c.A (link) c.A (link) B super every damn time. Practice until you get it 20 outta 20.
  2. TOP goes in the first part of your bar.
  3. dp+P is a shitty anti-air. Only bother with it when you’ll connect with the opponent way up, towards the apex of his jump. Against short jumps, and if you can only do it just before they hit you, its worthless. The invulnerability you see the CPU use does not carry over to players playing him.

Hmm well how about his :d:+:k: in the air?

What about it? Its a dive kick. Obviously, use it every time you connect with a dp+P for an extra hit and great positioning for wakeup games. Frame advantage/disadvantage depends on where it hits the opponent, so aim for the kneecaps. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, hit or whiff, use it after a dp+C. If you let Grant just come down for the ground punch, you’ll be giving your opponent a free jump-in combo. Great to use with dp+C for runaway games. The times I use it most, it order:

  1. After a dp+P for an extra hit, or whiffed for runaway. 90% of my dive kicks will be here.
  2. Empty jump away. if opponent twitches, like dashing after me, do a dive kick. It catches a lot of people by surprise, and a counterhit means free kick super. 5% of my dive kicks will be here.
  3. j.D xx d+K. Most people block low after blocking the j.D, and canceling it into a dive kick catches many by surprise. Only do when you have the opponent scared and solid control of the match.
  4. A+B, kara cancelled into a dive kick. The way Grants kinda hovers in the air doing this looks weird and catches some people off guard. Only do when you have the opponent scared and solid control of the match.

IF you have ungodly execution, doing repeated dp+C xx d+K can work as a pressure string near or in the corner, but the timing to get it done properly is pretty insane, and not recommended unless you practice like mad and can instantly react based on whether the opponent is crouching or not.

Toodles good stuff and you nail how to play Grant on the nail. I ask you however because for me it has been situational to use it but I have had success setting it up- How practical is his Semi-Inf. in the corner in your opinion? I can get Counter Hit Setups to get it going…but I was just curious what another Grant user thought about it.
