The reason (IMO) Akira went out like a bitch is because he apparently fought like one.
Oku probably decided to kill him off for/because:

Blondie had valid reason to kill him because he was insubornate, disloyal, and blood related to the team leader of their enemy. You couldn’t trust him. It also obvious which of the two were significantly weaker than the other as result of their last confrontation.
…So while I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of his death utilized as a scare tactic/psychological advantage (since Blond Boy has access to a fully functional brain) I think we all should know better than to believe Oku would explain anything to us without a gaping loophole responsible for it.

Haha, the way the series is written, it’s like they come up with story ideas and just arbitrarily decide to throw them in, then they just assume they’ll figure out a way to resolve it when they get to that point in the story. Oku’s not shy at all about doing some pretty crazy/oddball/awesome stuff though, that’s what I love about GantZ. He just throws shit at the wall and it sticks.

Gantz already chose a name for him. “Host Samurai” I believe. Host was the first part for sure tho’, Host as in a male hostess btw.
Just because the sphere decided to label his suitcase “Host Samurai” doesn’t necessarily mean that is his scoring nickname. GantZ has a track record for shelling out different names during the scoring process. Everyone would have been addressed by their own name from the get-go since it is plastered all over their suitcases if that were true. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’ll end up the case though since Oku probably won’t reveal his real name this soon.
