Can anyone from GO clarify how the pool/seeding play will work?
From what I have heard from Logan ~ Johnny, it doesn’t make much sense
Something like the Top Players in each pool with be seeded against each other, and the worst seeded against each other. This wouldn’t make sense for an elimination bracket, as all the good players are playing each other in the first round, which in most tournaments/leagues is poor entertainment.
It would make more sense if it was like the NHL
Where Best are seeded vs Worst, as this would lead to increasingly better matches as the tournament goes on.

No, it’s only poor entertainment whenever people watch you play. When people watch me play, that’s a different story.

Perhaps Logan can clarify for GO. I can help to run brackets. Since these guys are new they’re not acquainted with how we do things, so we should take the time to show them.
I think Johnny (FreezerB) has it all sorted out - he is actually a part of GO, not sure if that was communicated clearly.
Sorry if that wasn’t clear. As for the tournaments, the pools will be done to seed the brackets, so even if you lose all your matches in pool, you’ll still be in the double elimination stage. Double elimination brackets will then be seeding best vs. worst style, similar to major league sports playoff series.
We opted for seeding from pools to allow more play time for everyone. This will allow people new to the scene or casuals to stay longer than just 0-2 and allow the hardcore to stomp a ton of people in the process.
This will be a bit more work to organize but we’re pretty confident that we have the resources to run it smoothly. If there are any concerns, please voice them here or PMs to anyone from GO (buenob, Happablab, FreezerB) and/or Gillette/Logan.
Also, if there are suggestions for other tournaments and whatnot (for the next monthly), contact us about that too. Obviously, Marvel 3 is already on our list but we’d like to see what other games Ottawa would like. Ottawa has strong HDR players and a growing BBCS scene so if you’d like tournaments for those games as well, please make it known!
