I definitely think it’s a shame the girl is getting almost all the flack. She definitely deserves her share of the flack, but she wasn’t the one putting pen to paper. The “journalists” could have avoided all this by either recusing themselves from writing about her, or at least admitting that they had some sort of private relationship with her. Even just a “my good and close personal friend _____” could have saved at least a shred of their integrity.
Yes, she’s still a scumbag for bending her influence the way she has, but the journalists should have been smart enough not to give her that influence to begin with.

Hell, it isn’t even *really *that she fucked them. It’s that she has used her personal relationships with these people to bolster herself (Patreon donations, unspecifed Game Jam, higher interest in her game). Could also say that the journalists are using her to get clicks and ad revenue, but considering they had to build her game up in the public mind I think she had a lot more to gain from this than they did.
