Yes. I am part of the declining fighting game scene in the pacific northwest, mostly due to a decline of decent arcades. Gameworks is the ONLY place to go now, not to make it sound like we only go because it’s the only place. However, being as this is really the only place at the moment to go for fighting game competition, I, as well as MANY others (really) would love to see a few alterations in the selection of the games… We understand that they cost money, but we’d also like for you to understand how many more people in our fighting game scene could be showing up. With the right changes and additions, we could start having tournaments more often (at our old main location, a place in bellevue, we had bi-monthly tournaments on many games… it brought in a lot of people).
One of the most notable things, especially for bigger Tekken fans, is that you have about 4 Tekken machines and not one of them is the most current addition, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. Tekken 4, Tekken 5 (x2), and Tekken Tag aren’t bad games (though I personally couldn’t care less for Tekken 4), but it would captivate so many more Tekken players if you had DR.
SNK vs Capcom: Chaos, believe it or not, is looked down upon by most of us as a pretty crappy game. A lot more people prefer Capcom vs. SNK 2, Capcom’s last attempt at the franchise. A lot of people wish you guys had Capcom vs. SNK 2 in general, really, whether you replaced SvC with it or not. Another sad thing is that this is one of your two SNK fighters, and this is, IMO, one of the worst SNK fighters. If you’re wondering what SNK fighters would get a lot of play & appreciation, look into King of Fighters XI (if you’re willing to get something new-ish), or King of Fighters '98 (widely praised as one of the best, balanced KoF games). Also, Samurai Shodown 5 is an outdated version of SS5: Tenka, if you weren’t aware. I must admit, I don’t know how much effort/money it would take to go from regular to tenka, so I can’t judge on if it would be worth it or not.
Another excellent addition is an oldie but goodie, Super Street Fighter II: Super Turbo/Hyper Fighting. It would definitely be one of the oldest fighting games there, but believe me, people still play this. A lot.
Last but not least, I’d like to respectfully make one more point: on the more busy nights, behind the popular games such as Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, there are lines of about 6+ people at all times. It’s not uncommon for me to play a match of 3rd Strike, then have to wait through 10 other people to play before I get to play again. And that’s only if I feel like standing there through all of those matches… it’s disheartening, and not to mention, in some sense, having all these people standing around doing nothing is like you not making money! Of course, this is only solvable by having multiple cabinets and while I would feel like I was asking a lot to ask you to duplicate arcade games as well as add new ones, you guys have two Tekken 5 cabinets that never, ever have lines behind them. Something is amiss.
In closing, I thank you for reading this, and I gracefully, respectfully request that you truly consider the suggestions in here, as they are truly in the best interests of both Gameworks AND our region’s fighting game fans. Thanks!
