Stuart’s been doing some recording.
We haven’t had any tournaments in a while. I’ve been thinking about other things so haven’t been recording myself. I would probably record if people hassled me.
I have 80-100GB on zachd.com to use, and have 1TB+ of disk space on my local computer for editing. So we’re probably good on space. We just need to record, really. =\
Ah, word. Well then, hopefully we can get back into recording moods. ;]
I might be there tomorrow, if not, definatly next thurday and I’ll bring my camera.

Sound is a bit off. And the commentary BLOWS ASS! but all in all, semi-decent matches.
I’m filling out a message to them right now. Basically making a pro’s and con list. The cons are going to be pretty small but to the point. I’ll probably c/p it here so every one can see what I wrote.

Word’em up, Stu.
…101, I almost typed your name out “Stfu”…
LOL, Epic.
I live in Bellingham, but when I do go to Gameworks once a year, it’s gross. If someone gives em a card number I’ll fill out that survey…
2 quarters to go, and then I can get the hell out of here.
… which reminds me. ZACH, how the hell did you get arcade cabs up here when you were going to school? They have nothing now… not even one!
~~much <3 from teh Murakumo!!1
There was an arcade by Crazy Mike’s Video up by … Sunset? I think it’s gone now. There also was an arcade in the Viking Union in the pool hall. It was kind of in a corner closet, but had 3 pinball games, 2 fighting games, and a gun game.
How much longer are you up at WWU?
Mandel’s had enough! I can’t take this shit no mo! I’m about to post a suggestion in this mutha for ya! HELLLLLLLLLLLLL YEAH!
Alright so I submitted my survey, and here’s what I said…keep in mind it won’t be great. It was HARD. Felt like homework. If anything’s misworded it’s due to sleepy time delirium.
As an avid fighting game player, I think a more varied selection of games to choose from would be nice. Me and a lot of my friends (among others) come to Gameworks nearly every Thursday night. The only games we play are Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 3 Third Strike. The games themselves are in decent condition (although I’ve been hearing gripes about the Street Fighter machine as of late). There are a few more games that I think would bolster not only the attendance, but the number of people that show up. Those games are…
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Capcom vs SNK 2
I’ve been in Seattle’s competitive fighting game scene for years now and those games (along with Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Third Strike) have always had healthy tournament scenes. Seattle as it stands now doesn’t have very much to offer as it pertains to arcades and that’s the main reason why people have started showing up to Gameworks within the past few months. The last arcade that people frequented shutdown over a year ago and before that place closed, there were a couple other arcades that people would go to (of course those are closed down as well). A lot of the people that started going to GW Seattle recently, find it odd that you guys have SNK vs Capcom and Samurai Showdown 5 (as those games aren’t at many American arcades) but no Capcom vs SNK 2 or Dark Resurrection. It’s even more alarming in Tekken’s case simply because you guys have so many Tekken games (even two regular Tekken 5s) and not the newest edition in the Tekken series. What I’m saying definitely reeks of “if you build it, they will come.” But it’s true. I’m sure more people would show up if GW Seattle got the fighting games I just mentioned. Seattle’s the home to some of the World’s greatest Marvel vs Capcom 2 players, and Street Fighter players as well and they’re looking for a place to play and have future tourneys =].
Also, I think Marvel vs Capcom 2 is kinda expensive. I might have been hallucinating but I think it cost me like 8 credits (points, rupees, or whatever the card things are called). And that’s a lot for a game that’s nearly 7 years old. I’m not too sure about how much the other games cost but hopefully they aren’t as expensive as Marvel is. I use a money card because on Thursday nights, the line to get a time card is so long it’s crazy. So I just roll in there supreme with an old card.
As far as the crew goes, they’re great. They’re good about taking care of the machines as problems come up which is great because some arcades don’t care about their equipment.
In closing, I feel that GW Seattle has a lot of potential. Whether or not that potential is tapped into of course is up to you guys. Thanks for you time! SUPREME VICTORY!!!
You made me proud!
You sure know how to “milk” a situation.
Thank you, thank you, you know how I do.
I have more rep than Mandel. HA! (Shut up Drew)
Filled out the survey over the course of the past 30 mins. Nice change in rep, Stu. That took how long? 3 days?
To Zach…
… as far as I know, there is no pool hall in the Viking Union anymore.
In response to your question, I’ll be finished up here after Spring quarter, and I’ll most likely (hopefully) be moving to Japan in July in order to teach English on the JET program.
Not to be a debbie downer but I really doubt gameworks cares. You’d have to be really stupid or really greedy to not take advantage of all the suggestions there getting about upgrading. This is Sega Corp here not some small time arcade. When I look at the managers/marketing people I realize why GW is the way it is. Nobody has a pulse on the fighting game scene, nor do they care.
That old guy that walks around and hammers their staff could care less if we get CVS2 or DR. One of the previous managers when I mentioned to him the overpriced MVC2 price said something along the lines of " It’s never going to happen", and thats exctally how I feel the rest of the managment feels about thoes games. If your to blind to see the lines on Thursdays to play fighting games/interest we have in these games your completely an idiot, and your business deserves to fail.
IMO this is business 101, exctally what big businesses dowhen theyhave a monopoly over a certain market. Until competition arrives I dont ever see GW completely changing. Nobody in the real position of power has the passion to see this blossom. Could you imagine them throwing a tournment? it’s a joke even thinking about it.
I completely agree with you Osek. I think right around the time where I was submitting my survey, I kinda got the feeling that it was a waste of time. Almost in a sense that they’re like “hey, continue to show up and fill out these surveys and let us know what you think!” to kinda keep us around with false hopes. I really hope that’s not the case. That was why I made that Gametown thread. As of right now they don’t have 3S, and maybe they won’t let us run tourneys there again, but that place has a LOT more potential for our scene than GW does as of this moment imo. How long have people started going (outside of the GW regulars that have been there before everyone else) there since the Thursday night special?? Two, three months? It’s been a while that’s for sure.
^Yep, ever since I saw that manager and just watching how he deals with situations and people (and sadly enough staff) I have no faith in Gameworks. Fire him and hire a specific marketing person to promote tourny’s and just have some damn passion about games.
Gametown might be worth staying in touch with. I don’t know how much longer they can hold on to business, but that have some good games. They might be interested in selling if times get hard:wgrin:. But that place is shady, either roll with a few people or the 40 cal.
That’s what happens when you hang out in “REP ME PLZ LOLZ” threads.
 Not that you don’t deserve rep for what you’ve done…Seattle would’ve given you plenty with the right amount of Premium.
