I missed the Smash Tournament, but will do my best to attend this.
I have no idea what the Utah scene looks like these days. Will be interesting to see in the long run. I’ll give it a shot 
I assume when/if this becomes an actual event, it will go in the tournaments and events section. Where it belongs.

I think they’d take more into consideration for street fighter.Like letting people use the sticks they’re selling for the game, or maybe even pick their own character
Either way, it’s just a gamestop tournament. That’s really all you need to know to while deciding if you want to waste your time with it or not
I dunno about random characters… we were allowed to choose our character for the Brawl tournament… out of the default cast (though my location allowed anyone we’d unlocked, and I was trying to get Sonic freed up before it started. I think Ganondorf was unlocked, but I hadn’t decided to main him yet).
This will probably be the same way, so no Seth or Akuma around. So… watch out for Sagats, I suppose?

The brawl tournament at my gamestop was done pretty well IMO. We used tournament mode and we were able to choose our characters. Round 2, however, was very bad. The rules were suddenly changed because the gamestop guys were to lazy to argue with anyone so we were allowed to do w/e we want which would have been normaly fine. So everything was great, but for some stupid reason they decided to have the game kiosk OUTSIDe in the freezing cold weather.
I hope they do justice to the SF IV tournament, although I highly doubt it . =/
I guess I’m not going because I’m already going to a tournament on the 21st of Feb. Playing SFIV against better people, no less.
Yeah, Gamestop tourneys generally suck
Even if I have to use a 360 pad, I still have about 4 months under my belt with the game already…I highly doubt anybody within a 5 mile radius (because that’s how close Gamestops are) can give me any trouble
I’m going for the OMGWTFBBQ reactions from everybody I play, just like I did with the awful Brawl tourney…it’s fun beating on people who trash talk
guys it would seem to me that all Characters should be unlocked by tournament time. The game releases on the 17 but the tourney isn’t until the 21. that’s more than enough time to get all the characters unlocked. At the local gamestop brawl tourney, the manager, young guy, said he spent all day getting all the characters unlocked for the tourney which was at midnight because the game had a midnight release. we also got called into the store in pairs of 4 because they had 4 kiosks set up, and they let up pick our character which was then put into a tourney tree. The only problem that I had with that tourney was the fact that the manager, who had spent all day unlocking the characters, PLAYED IN THE TOURNAMENT!shit was totally unfair because he was the only one who had played the game and he was an employee, which means he wasn’t suppose to compete. he said that he was in THE tourney because he wanted to eliminate people faster. he ended up eliminating me in semi finals. and he went on to win the entire tournament with Lucas, but since he wasn’t supposed to compete in THE first place the runner up won by default. Its not gonna matter this time though because everyone will have hands on this time!
No. It wasn’t. Just smashfags bitched about it, before, during, and after because they didn’t get their way but despite all the bitching and moaning a lot of the smash community showed up and played. The tournament ran fine.
You seem to bitch a lot about stuff that you have no knowledge in. It’s pretty annoying.
RE SFIV Tournament:
They will run it how they see fit.Well, actually how the company sees fit. Which is likely kid/newb oriented. If people show up with arcade sticks and whatever it’ll intimidate a lot of new players who will likely not want to participate or drop out of the tourney altogether.
You can bitch about it all you want, it won’t change anything. And just like the smash tourney I mentioned, a lot of you will still enter no matter how stupid the rules are.
I’ll destroy scrubs with my TE stick, gamepads, tampons, whatever they wanna use. I’m there.
