Gamers 4 Christ Sponsorship available. NEW

Fair enough. I don’t have an Xbox though. anyway. (1.)What do you consider a deep impact? Mainly through conversations?

(2.)Will you sponsor someone that isn’t Christian? Am I correct to assume sponsorship is in line with promoting?

I think thats cool that your covering out of your own pocket. Similar to Marn sponsoring Wolfkrone.

MMA fighters like Vitor Belfort and Rampage have had Christian text or symbolism on their shorts, but It seemed like it was a personal choice outside of a direct sponsorship.

Jamie Thomas who joined Zero Skateboards, was their first pro and in contrast to their skull imagery, would put out decks with crosses.

These guys love and respect what they do and put everything into it. I think “esports” is a bad word because of that uncertainty and history of ‘flavor of the month’ and how we know the businesses won’t stick around through good or bad, thick or thin.

So with no history in FG, no proof of passion for them, there should be skepticism. Fighting games as just an means to an end doesn’t go down clean. There nothing wrong with being a business, it just has to be clear, and you made it clear. I posted the bizzy bone interview because I believe in that motto – keep it real.

Okay I wanted to know about some of this and please excuse me if I come off sounding like a twat:

From the Tyler paper: http://www.gamers4christ.org/tyler-paper-g4c-reaches-out-through-video-games/

“The group plays a variety of games: “Halo,” “Call of Duty” and “Madden NFL.” Some of them are violent, but Young says the benefits outweigh the drawbacks^^.”

Earlier quotes:

“So is war but the old test*** is full of it. To tell I young kid to not be competitive and play isn’t going to happen. I think we have to be careful with some games that promote magic spills and so forth, which can be a form of witchcraft/darkness.”

“He did Stand Up for those being oppressed and against the ones who preached the law/Old Covenant to the people since he was the new covenant sent to be the payment for our sins. Setting us free from the law and free to serve in spirit and truth…”

(3.) I want to know how you reconcile MK or COD with Christ?

I want to know the rationale here. (4.) Why would mutilation and killing be acceptable but not magic spells?
(5.) Do you feel there are Old Testament texts that justify this***, and if so could you post them?
(6.) Also why would you catagorize the law and the Old Convenant as oppressive and not wars?

(7.) Where do you draw the line concerning content in games you’re willing to support?

Also as an aside, there is such a thing as Christian metal, Christian nudists, Christian webcam girls (ex-hardcore). I guess it comes down to your philosophy and point of view, and I’m hoping you can elaborate on how you weigh drawbacks and benefits^^.

nothing really wrong with what he’s saying and giving back to the poor is a generous things to do.

I’m not a christian\catholic and not really an atheists. Could give 2 shits about it honestly. However, I don’t want to be pestered with do you believe in god rantings\pamphlets. Which is something that the “church” is known for. Always trying to turn someone towards their religion.

as long as none of that shit is going on near\around the venue, something like this doesn’t really bother me. There are professional athletes whom actively thank god and the teams even have a team prayer or w\e but they keep it within a specific realm.

is the FGC really this sensitive?

damn.

No, just people who post on SRK.

There is no god. I just wanted to say that.

More FG religion jokes please. Even one more, there is so much potential.

Pheonix being God tier
People that call the MvC3 guide the bible.
Firebrand mains.
Thor main.

So much material.

PS: I don’t disapprove and do not mean to disrespect. I just wanna laugh.

what ‘bible’ types do know? how many specifically??? seriously, how many gamers who also happen to be into their faith have personally ruined your gaming sessions or tournaments?

again, people making assumptions of an entire group of people based on perceptions of the worst of the worst, and punishing them for things they haven’t even done yet.

should people post up and harass people at major tournaments? NO!!! that would be extremely insensitive whether its a christian group or a car group.

Saying people of a common interest shouldn’t be able to have any right to meet in the FGC because some people don’t have any interest in it is prejudice. If they act out in a way that is insensitive, offensive, or disruptive, deal with it after the fact.

DMC characters going into Devil Trigger

Well I live in the states so I’m mostly talking about christians. Which is what the OP was talking about. Put it together man.

I don’t fucking like religion and I don’t fucking like religious people.

It’s stupid, naive, childish, and only leads to problems in society. It makes people stop questioning things and it concentrates power in the hands of tax exempt ideologues who further their own ends by taking advantage of people by [S]asking[/S] [S]for[/S] stealing their money. You ever seen one of those “mega churches” or the [S]houses[/S] mansions that these church leaders live in? They are living a good life on earth with plenty of material possessions yet they tell their constituents to shun these kinds of things.

religion is brainwashing. Fuck them. America doesn’t need them.

It’s all bullshit, and it’s bad for you.

I’m sorry you feel that way, but man thats the most judgmental thing I’ve ever read. how many ‘stupid, naive, and childish’ religious people have you ever met? Like actually taken the time to get to know, as opposed to unloading all your misconceptions, prejudices, and unfounded labels on? and what basis do you have to begin with to make such broad strokes of judgement?

But this isn’t about how YOU feel about religion. Where in this post has anyone attacked you for YOUR beliefs? Made threats of calling religious jihad on fighting game tournaments? Its about if someone has the right to allow people of a common interest (faith) to meet together in and share that common interest as well as an interest in a video game.

the rant above is full of exaggerated stereotypes, and a george carlin bit is hardly justification for people with a belief others might not hold themselves to not being able to meet in the midst of a video game scene.

edit: I’m done with this thread too, I’ve said my peace in regards toward this group (or any other) being welcomed in the fighting game community, and if people want to have nothing to do with some potentially amazing players (and people in general) based on exaggerated stereotypes and flat out hatred of people who have differing viewpoints, that is their loss.

I understand why people are getting so fired up over this (religion tends to do that to people) but really people are making a mountain out of a molehill. Anytime religion or religious discussion is brought up does not mean that someone is swindling you or that you are going to have something shoved down your throat. That being said the idea of religious intercourse (yo, intercourse as in talking) going on at a time and place designated specifically for something else that many people are incredibly passionate about is in a way threatening to the people that come there simply to play fighting games. For me fighting games are a way to channel emotion that i have to keep in check for a large portion of my day to day life, oftentimes when i play its a cathartic experience. Part of the beauty of fighting games is that when you are head to head with someone its not about race religion age or any of that other shit, its just you, your stick, and them. To get good at these games takes thousands of hours and a shitload of losing and a whole lot of dedication. Hypothetically you are proposing that some of the focus (yes, even if it is a small amount its still something, even if its voluntary) at these events be shifted towards something else, a thing that some people are violently opposed to. Even if this group of people isn’t forcing you to join in or anything it still affects the entire flow of the event. It forces acknowledgment of something that before was totally irrelevant, hypothetically some of the people that you would otherwise be playing in casuals or just talking to while watching matches will be otherwise occupied discussing their faith, something that just feels unfair considering how much the individual cares about fgs. To some people bringing religion into the scene is obviously a desecration of something held sacred to the player, a parallel that could be drawn would be bringing an arcade cabinet into a church during a sermon to play money matches.

Personally i don’t think that it would be that big of a deal to try and hold these sort of conversations at events. As long as you don’t force people to join or have to overbearing of a presence i wouldn’t care, i would be perfectly happy to just mind my own business playing vidja games and getting hype. In all honesty though i don’t think that the tournament environment is the appropriate place to hold the sort of discourse the OP is striving for. A Tournament (or even just a small gathering) is an area ripe with distractions, time restraints, and people who will be focused on what they came there to do. I believe that any attempt at establishing some sort of religious group that participates in some sort of religious activity in such a non-religious environment would rapidly fall apart (unless you gave away free fried chicken or jesus action figures). People have shit to do, and i doubt they are going to willingly donate a portion of their free time they set aside to play their hearts out pondering bible interpretations. I feel like even if people were into religion enough to voluntarily do this they would be doing it in an environment solely dedicated to religion rather than one that is mainly for fighting games. If you really want this to work though I feel like if players were invited to join a group sometime before or after the tournament things would work a lot better. Idk if what you are trying is gonna work brad, but coming from someone decidedly non religious i wish you the best.

Btw I think it needs to be said that rufus is the most religious character ever. He named one of his moves after jesus and his alt in sfxt is him in angel mode. He’s pretty much obese god.

Seeing how hellbox tackled most of what u said alrready I’ll tackle one specific statement.
“Only leads to problems in society”

WHat? Huh? Dude you’re an atheist that believes the origin of our being is “nothing”. Why are u using the term “problem” as if there is an objective goal/purpose for society that is being interfered with?

WHy are u borrowing from religion and imputing things like Human Worth and Rights into your justifications of your hate for religion.

This is the most inconsistent crap I read.

You’re calling it bullsht but at the same time borrowing aspects of it to justify your hate for it…wat da hell?

Dude get real…post here again when you realize the stupidity of your posts and the inconsistency of your idea of Human worth and human Rights being taken advantage of and how that contradicts what you claim to believe.

why am i not surprised that MLG gamers are the only ones who would aimlessly wander around a relatively poor part of the neighbor hood with pizzas. half of those people in that video weren’t even homeless, except the dude with the zany ponytail.

Wow, religion sure puts peoples’ panties in a bunch.
Religion is a collection of beliefs, and world views. Atheists, in fact, believe in their own little religions. Stay dumb.

Religious dude claiming that religion invented the idea of human rights and human worth :coffee:
Give me a fucking break, we would have never made this far without caring for one another, and it wasn’t religion who thought us this, it was religion who tried to claim that it was their idea.

Atheism isn’t an assertion of any kind, there’s no such thing as what atheist “believe”.
Atheists simply reject what they see no reason to believe (such as imaginary zombies), it isn’t even the rejection of a possibility of there being a god,it doesn’t dictate anything else in life, that’s your own decision. I as an atheist don’t know where everything it came from, and I don’t make any claims about it unlike religious people who claim their god has omnipotent power and created everything etc etc. That’s fucking stupid and childish.

Religion is a very specific claim that requires you to live in a specific way. That’s why it’s so easy to tear it down logically.
Religious people try to define atheism as a religion with a specific set of of beliefs, but it simply doesn’t apply and you end up sounding like a whiny kid

Ummmm no…but if you are an atheist things like “Human worth” and “Human rights” are lies from an objective standpoint and do not exist.
So yea u can try and pass it off with an “not worth anyone’s time” statement but in reality you know you cant even reply back with an argument.
Theres no argument.

I did not say Religion invented the idea of human rights, but religion gives a proper basis in which Human Rights becomes an objective aspect in life.

So you’re whole thing about religion poisioning everything is stupid because in your worldview there is no objective purpose/goal for existence that is being destroyed. And in turn things like Human worth dont exist outside of what state/culture gives us.

So again stop with that stupid argument. You can talk the talk but its obvious u dont walk the walk kiddo.

Wasn’t this thread about a sponsorship? These butthurt guys need to either start making jokes again gtfo of this thread. The maturity level here is extremely low. Just ignore the thread if religion bothers you that much.

I’m totally serious, I’m on my way to OT VIII if I can get to top 16 at the next EVO in SF4. The donations are just for supporting the church and it’s activities in busting thetans and spreading the word of the great L. Ron Hubbard.

Bless You Brett. Would love to meet you bro at some up coming events. When is the next one you plan on attending? Im still getting a feel for the events and which ones are close and which ones we should attend right now. Any suggestions would be good?

Thanks,
Brad

1st sentence: Origin of our being would be “evolution” not “nothing”.
There actually is an objective goal/purpose for society, one we all implicitly agree to whether we are conscious of it or not. The dichotomy between pleasure and pain. Term"problem" = religion causes more pain than pleasure in the world. Read a fucking history book. People don’t knock down buildings with airplanes or pillage, rape and crusade their way to victory under the banner of reason. They always have and always will do these things under the banner of religion with god’s blessings.

No one ever killed another person because they were being too reasonable with one another. Religion is a poison. It cripples healthy minds from a young age and corrupts their faculties turning otherwise smart, questioning kids, into obedient drones. It sets up authority that you can’t actually ever question (since god doesn’t exist and you can’t actually have conversations with it) and that follows people into adulthood. Not questioning the government, not questioning the police or the military ect. This has NEVER been the sign of a healthy society in the history of the world. Too much religion always ends up making a society regress, not progress.

2nd sentence: what does this even mean?

Anyway, I know what will happen. We’ll go back and forth and brow beat each other, I’ll bring up science and facts and you’ll bring up faith and eventually you’ll get walked into a corner by logic where you’ll end up saying something allong the lines of, “I have faith” or “it’s a matter of faith” to prove your point and essentially end the conversation. I don’t care to go there. I’ve been debating you people since I was 16. I doesn’t even matter that I’m hung over. As an atheist, we always stand on the firm ground of facts and science. Not the soft unstable ground that faith provides.

It’s the fucking 21st century and people are still carrying around mythical tales from the prior to the bronze age in their heads and thinking they are true. Seriously, how stupid can people get? It’s all made up, they made it all up. all of it is a big, sick fucking joke.
