I play MK and Skullgirls mainly.

The OP spent some time playing ST w/ some other dudes and I @ EVO 2012. Nice guy. I don’t see this sponsorship as any less valid than singling out a SoCal crew and saying they must be from SoCal to be sponsored. They have a common interest in addition to that of gaming that binds them together as a team. Sounds like something desirable to me.

Seriously, gamers for Christ? What the fuck would god care about fucking video games?
You guys need to watch, or RE-watch some ***George Carlin. ***
It’s all bullshit, and it’s bad for ya.
P.S. You should have god proof read your posts. Those damn 6 month Ph.D’s get ya every time eh?
You want to give out “sponsorships” but your post comes off as utterly unprofessional.
I think there’s a fundamental difference between having fun talking about cars, and sincerely believing you are taking orders from a celestial being.
If we wanna make sure we keep getting along with each other (each with his own personal delusions), keep your shit private instead of waving it around like a badge of honor.
Edit: Imagine an islamic version. Every time a player does a random ultra, during a super flash he shouts Allahu Akbar. lol
Nope.
Your homeboy came in here affiliating himself with a very specific group that a represents a very specific philosophy which we ALL KNOW exactly what they want.
He even came in quoting scripture and shit.
You can pretend that the next christian propaganda is so much different than the other one, but that is simply not true, specially after this guy already admitted that he would be interested in hosting bible shit in our community events.
I not against any group of people getting together, or someone sponsoring any players. I’m against the fact that this guy wants to bring religion into gaming events. That only offers segregation in a community that’s well known for its multicultural background because of its origins in the arcades.
There’s PLENTY of places for them to host their religious events, don’t try to poison our multicultural community.
You know guys, my gripes are significantly less about him being a christian doing this than the idea of doing it. This would be just as crappy if it were a Muslim, Jehova’s witness, Rabbi, political party etc.
Digging at this for his religious view is kinda dumb since it is the general idea that is bad for the community. Brad Young kinda wants to do something nice but he wants to sneak in them booths at Majors.
Now that we know that we can go back to ignoring all this nonsense since the last thing we need at majors is any kind of religious and/or political organization making any type of presence in the way of floor space that could go to casuals for any other game.
Basically this is just another way to indoctrinate young ppl into an ideal before they are old enough to know better so we get them while they are young and doing something they like. Never know what hit them. That is excluding the fact that you will have other people of different religions at these events and some how some way people will feel like they are being treated differently because of their religion. You think we have bad arguments online wait until you gotta stop that shit irl. Having that kind of stuff at Evo or other major tournies sounds like a HUGE liability and powder keg waiting to be lit.
Wait… is this a giant troll thread?
It’s not…? Really? Seriously…?
This is hands down the most unbelievably stupidest shit I’ve seen in a long, long time.
Why do you need something like religion to start a gaming group to begin with? To make you feel superior to everyone else? Are you going to ‘crack the bread and pass the wine’ when you lose a match? Are you going to dress like the pope and mutter prayers while waving an incense pot back and forth before a tourney?
It doesn’t matter which religion it is, or what ‘cause’ you are promoting. You are wanting to start a group where you can feel superior to those not in your faith, and spread your brainwashing fairy tales to those in your pathetic group. There are places for that. They are called ‘churches’.
Please take your Tim Tebow horseshit and GTFO.
The amount of assumptions in this thread is staggering
YESYESYES, THIS.
I know these “bible” types. They want to start a little group and before long they are asking everyone for money and donations until all the people are dried up.
Religion poisons what exactly?
I can assume that you are an atheist so I have to ask what exactly does religion poison?
I will assume it has to do with the basis of morality.
WHich I will respond, you dont realize that the basis for what is known as “Human worth” or “Human Rights” are from religion.
If it be that the origin of our existence is basically “nothing” then we must conclude we are completely worthless beings and we have no intrinsic worth within our selves that is seperate from what is given to us by culture/state. Morality is based upon the worth of a being plus the offense towards that being.
So when u say religion poisons everything, I have to laugh because based on your belief things like “Human Rights” and “Human worth” are lies objectively so I have to ask what are you even saying?
Religion poisons nothing because there is no objective goal or purpose for our existence, in order for you to even say that religion poisons everything, you must first validate an objective reason/goal for existence that is being destroyed.
And iirc only religion gives a basis and an objective goal/purpose for existence soo…stop using that stupid argument
You don’t have to come to the bible studies. The are optional. The company and/or people hosting the tournament are not going to require you to go to our bible studies. lol Be serious, please.
Thanks,
Brad
Read what I have posted then you can respond more wisely. This is just way off base.
Thanks,
Brad
We are there for the gamers that are christians that want to come together and read the bible or do whatever we do we were arent playing.
There are a bunch of christians that attend the events we are just giving them a gather post per say.
I don’t see use handing out tracks. That is nothing we have ever done. We also invite people to go feed the homeless when we go.
Listen to a Pro Player named Braake that I meet last year at the events and his THoughts on G4C.
Thanks,
Bradley Young
clicking the reply button on each post automatically fills in this reply box so you can multiquote bud. That being said, what are your thoughts on an Gamers for Atheist?
Wouldnt make sense because you are gamers for nothing. Atheist is a lack of belief of a God so it would seem unnecessary to have a “Gamers for” when the very definition of the word is the lack of belief.
Gamers for Satan would make more sense
Wow, I didn’t know this was around…at least not for fighting games. The only thing I don’t really care for is that the name is kinda corny haha - it’s true to what the goal is, but the “4” being there…eh. Maybe the fighting game division could have a different designation? I generally feel like the only Christian at tournaments and know I should find God’s will in my hobby, so this might be a good thing to get into.
The thread responses are just standard internet. I’ve felt that Mr. Young’s responses are in line with how I believe.
But Satanists do not believe in Satan. They’re atheists that believe in Might is Right more than anything else.
Atheism is “the absence of belief in God” so its the exclusion of God so one does not need to include a label for it. Because the title Atheist includes nothing soo it makes no sense to make such a group(For “someone”).
And Satan is believed to be an entity which includes with him the concept of God so I would think a “group for atheist” and a “group for Satan” would be totally different belief wise.
Satanists believe in Satan as a mythological figure. They do not literally believe in Satan. Satanism is the worship of the self, might is right, social Darwinism, etc. In summation, it is the belief in the primal forces of nature. If it occurs in nature than it’s okay. This is a summary and there’s lot more to it than you make it out to be.
Atheists may or may not believe in that and are simply skeptics that require an absolute proof before they believe in anything.
