This might be a shocker to you and the people complaining about this but the consumer base for super hero comics is largely and overwhelminy male. Moreover super hero comics are a escapism and portray people at the absolute apex of human potential which also means perfect bodies. This isnât just true of women but of men as well.
Youâre complaining that comic books which often contain stories of intergalactic space travel, multiple dimensions and people and entities with fantastic powers that defy the laws of science and physics are suddenly now problamtic because women dont look real enough. For starters, for you to say that no male character is portrayed in a sexualized matter is just beyond ignorant. The men in super hero comics have the exact same proportions and bodies as men do in romance novels which is a genre of erotica made by women for women. Now often times the defense to justify this is"yeah but men arenât in skimpy costumes and posed in the same ways"which to me is such a hilariously daft rebuttal Iâm not at all surprised feminist/SJWs resort to it. The reason men in comics arenât wearing cleavage/hip exposing tights is because the male body is quite different from the female body and what looks good on women doesnât look good on men. The reason powergirlâs outfit is sexy is because it exaggerates feminine features that are exclusive to women. For this reason you canât just slap on this outfit to someone like superman and then expect the same level of sex appeal because surprise surprise men and women donât have interchangeable bodies and as such have different reasons for why they are both attractive. However to say that men arenât sexualized when nearly all the men in comics look like male models and are built like body builders with outfits tight enough that you can count their pecs is both delusional and extemely hyprocritical.

Iâve mention the cover of love novels before. What I was mention specifically is that the actual content of the characters gets lost because of all the sexual stuff. Truth is that as much as I love the hot chicks, sometimes they are just ridiculous looking. This isnât some uppity fight to change shit, its very much an observation. M:TG has had some ridiculous art that just made no sense, its also been doing a better job of it by making bad ass female characters who are just bad ass.

I donât think itâs such a smug attitude if people who are involved in said hobby want it to change. Like Iâve stated, Iâve been reading comics for decades and I would like to see a change in how they approach female characters.
In my view I think that sexualization is only a problem if you want it to be. In addition to this we can see just how hyrpicritcal sexualization is when it comes to the way men are portrayed vs women like in the links I provided above.
There doesnât need to be a change because nothing is wrong with the way women are portrayed.
