JonTron was among the first to speak against the SJWs. He shared his experiences with Quinn when he met her in the Game Jam she ruined and didn’t have pleasant things to say about her. Thus, woman harassment.

That ‘gamejam’ was a bunch of indie game developers and youtube personalities stuck together in a room, with corporates trying to coerce them into advertising mountain dew, create fake reality TV show type drama, and compete in lame challenges for prizes no one wanted (namely mountain dew, dorritos, and xbox one indie development access that anyone there could have gotten with no effort). It would have been a disaster with or without zoey quinn.

Insightful, but irrelevant to the fact that JonTron considered Zoe Quinn to be a bad person.

If they had just randomly met at a bar, ComicCon, or PAX, his opinion would’ve probably stood firm.

Fantasy/comic/sci fi art has always been kinda nuts. I remember looking at a couple of Magic cards and going “seriously, this is what the chick is wearing?” That’s one part where the feminists have a point. The problem is, though, that this bitches aren’t the ones buying it. So it isn’t like they can put any type of proper significant pressure on them.

I think I’m gonna dub this the Skullgirls effect: where the quality of a project is undermined by the chosen art direction. These are unrealistic portrayals of women, for one. Fiction or no, their bodies are put into poses even contortionists struggle to reenact. And it isn’t even to prove their strengths or superpowers. It’s to sexualize them. They are selling their sex, not their stories or powers. That’s silly when you see that they do this for literally NO male super hero. The male super heroes are drawn with a purpose, always having a reason to do what they do. Women covers are almost NEVER that. They are posing provocatively and for zero reason to do so.

This doesn’t ruin shit either and you know it. Changing covers is not akin to completely remaking a character. You’re already standing on flimsy ground and you’re not making your argument any better by saying this is “destroying” a character/comic line when it clearly is not.

I wasn’t avoiding it, I just thought your answer was poorly thought out and ignorant. Is it so hard for you to think that people who love these comics also want to see these covers changed? I know I’m one of those people. Am I not allowed to critique their work?

Taking my money elsewhere won’t solve the problem with overtly sexualizing female characters on comic book covers or the feelings people have of it. There’s nothing except “we’re losing money” that comic book publishers will take as an answer and doesn’t give real solutions. By bringing this up with publishers, they are now aware of it as an issue and it is up to them as a business to change or not.
