wheres the infographic that shows what percent of the world gives a shit about this and or the info graphic showing what percentage think this bitch gets book and or movie deal or both
Iâm okay with it, actually. For a long time women have been portrayed as these sexy vixens in comic books, no matter how deep the character is. Many of their poses arenât even humanly possible. Theyâre just used to sexualize heroines and itâs kind of pointless.
The Spider-Woman buttcrack bullshit is beyond stupid. That shit is tame compared to the Lady Death, Sexy Fairy Tales and Shi covers Iâve seen. I remember a few years ago when people accused Marvel of promoting tentacle rape because of this cover.
How about creation instead of destruction? Go buy comics that DO give you what you want, instead of trying to ruin everything that doesnât?
Imagine a FG event where some dude is trying to prevent other people from playing game X which he dislikes, instead of just supporting game Y which he likes? He looks like a total jerk to everyone when acting like that.
Fantasy/comic/sci fi art has always been kinda nuts. I remember looking at a couple of Magic cards and going âseriously, this is what the chick is wearing?â Thatâs one part where the feminists have a point. The problem is, though, that this bitches arenât the ones buying it. So it isnât like they can put any type of proper significant pressure on them.
I think Iâm gonna dub this the Skullgirls effect: where the quality of a project is undermined by the chosen art direction. I think this is one of those where, had feminist seen how awesome female comic book characters are, could be legitimately supportive of characters while being able to ask for changes as consumers. Mind you, I love me some big titties, but I also love me some perky b cups. Not enough super heroes with that welcoming type of titty thatâs always happy to see you.
Youâre overlooking the reason why there are complaints in the first place.
These are unrealistic portrayals of women, for one. Fiction or no, their bodies are put into poses even contortionists struggle to reenact. And it isnât even to prove their strengths or superpowers. Itâs to sexualize them. They are selling their sex, not their stories or powers. Thatâs silly when you see that they do this for literally NO male super hero. The male super heroes are drawn with a purpose, always having a reason to do what they do. Women covers are almost NEVER that. They are posing provocatively and for zero reason to do so.
This doesnât ruin shit either and you know it. Changing covers is not akin to completely remaking a character. Youâre already standing on flimsy ground and youâre not making your argument any better by saying this is âdestroyingâ a character/comic line when it clearly is not.
Wait, thatâs the pose that their mad at? thatâs like nothing to get mad at. Fucking spiderman has been crawling everywhere for years. It just meant to make her look bug like. I mean, shit, thatâs no worse than what youâd see at in an European beach. Out of all the possibleâŚbleh. At least they arenât pointing out how Greg Land steal poses from porn magazines.
I wasnât avoiding it, I just thought your answer was poorly thought out and ignorant. Is it so hard for you to think that people who love these comics also want to see these covers changed? I know Iâm one of those people. Am I not allowed to critique their work?
Taking my money elsewhere wonât solve the problem with overtly sexualizing female characters on comic book covers or the feelings people have of it. Thereâs nothing except âweâre losing moneyâ that comic book publishers will take as an answer and doesnât give real solutions. By bringing this up with publishers, they are now aware of it as an issue and it is up to them as a business to change or not.
And thatâs that, take that shit to PMs now. We arenât really discussing how a group of people are hijacking the discourse of video game content all the while manipulating things for financial gains.
