#GamerGate: Keepin' Journos Honest

Had a pretty neat conversation about GG with one of my best friends. He’d only seen some of the big media articles. Conversation went like:

Me: "So this stuff with gamespot and then all this nonsense and then all this additional nonsense. They could’ve just been honest about fucking up a while and ago and it would’ve blown over."
Him: "Why didn’t they?"
Me: “Fuck if I know.”

^Right?

I mean we know this isn’t the case, but it’s ambiguous as to whether the writers were really that hilariously clueless about how games and technology work (which they seem to be), or if they wrote it to be deliberately over-the-top such that they jumped the shark on purpose.

The truly sad aspect of it is that on the one hand the anti-gg folks are familiar enough with games and technology to recognize that the bad puns, contrived acronyms, website names, and unrealistic hacking feats in the episode were straight-up retarded. “Game on NYPD!” But on the other hand, they’re not quite self-aware enough to realize that this SVU episode was the logical culmination of the absurd hyperbolic narrative they’ve been pushing about #gg for six months now. That episode was basically a cinematic summary of everything anti-gg has been saying up to this point—which is what Oliver Campbell was saying.

And god, the ending. That was some bleak shit. Abandon all hope. “***Fuck it, I give up.***” The LWs hated it, and #gg just laughed at it. Maybe some mastermind at NBC said, “Let’s make this so ridiculous that both sides will somehow find common ground over its horribleness.

It was done on purpose. The fact that its trying to be serious is what makes it even funnier. You KNOW they didn’t look at this episode and were like “this is good”

They chose to make the episode based on what ABC/CNN/Kotaku/Polygon headlines and Anita/Zoe stories. They made it as literal as possible to show what they are saying and put it on screen. Its genius.

Guys, the sad reality is that ridiculous/insane as it is, the SVU episode was intended to be dead serious.

That’s genuinely the level of insight/discourse we’re talking about with SJWs/Hollywood liberals. On a related note, I cracked up at the villains.

Like with virtually every commercial, television show, and movie, they’re clean-cut, good-looking white guys. As Adam Carolla once joked, aliens who only watch our television/movies and then visit our jails would be really fucking confused.

As hilarious as the episode may be its a reflection of the narrative set forth by anita and anti-GGs. When you have anita arguing games cause real world violence against women, and kotaku and similar minded journalist comparing sexualized imagery to rape…what else is the casual observer suppose to expect. In the world of feminist/SJWs, gamers are mostly all white men who might as well be rapist and murders.

Check out the comments.

I still haven’t watched the episode yet but it feels this episode is alot like the Scientology episode of South Park where during the sci-fi story it had a caption that flashed “This is what they actually believe” appeared on screen. Seems like this SVU episode is this for the anti-GG narrative.

Ew, sennin agreed with me. I take what I said back.

You’re wrong 99.9% of the time but I’m objective enough to agree with a point well made.

That SVU supercut was fucking hilarious. Those guys had to have had a difficult time holding their composers, I would of pooped myself on some of those one liners and geek terminology.

Buy the mask and level up! http://www.zanheadgear.com/catalog/product.aspx?ItemCode=WNFM064&CategoryID=101

lol WTF at those gas mask reviews. I assume that was used in the Law & Order episode?

Wu’s game does not have a greenlight hub anymore. It could be because it may have violated Steam’s rules by lying about the system (claming that “not interested” somehow negates the yes votes) and asking for votes on twitter by people who were not going to buy the game anyway, abusing the system and providing false information about the actual demand for the game.

Students were getting credit for attending the lecture…

When is Anita gonna come to my college? All I need is 10 mins. I swear to god all I need is 10 mins and I will get her number and a date.

The comments on that page are amazing.

Girl 1: What did they do to you?
Girl 2: They leveled up.

^ My exact reaction complete with exact same laugh at supercut.

Finally, it’s FGC related now

I’d love to hear what the actors/actresses and director thought about this episode.
