I know there are the regular SNES Hori GameCube control pads, but I already have those.
I’m looking to see if there are readymade arcade sticks for Wii/GameCube to use for Bloody Roar (and the rare copy of SNK vs. CVS EO), or of these things are custom-made only. I also have a tendancy to play shmups alot, so maybe a shmup-stick should suffice. The only ones I could find are Pelican, and I’ve heard those are bad…
Regarding cutsom mades…There aren’t any links to custom arcade stick makers for GameCube, are there? (All the link in The Official Threads lead to those who make for PS2/XBox/Dreamcast, and all who claim to also do GC don’t have alot of knowledge for it.) I’m having trouble looking for them…
In regards to the custom makers, try asking. I know someone made a “wii stick” but, its really just a GCN stick in disguise. Ask around. Otherwise, X-Arcade or ps2-> GCN as jsheppar said.
If I do go for the PS2>GCN option, any chance they could relabel the buttons to their GCN equivalents? I don’t know what PS2 buttons correspond to which ones in the GameCube controller… (Theads also fails to mention button translations)
Well, its a custom stick, so you could always ask them to do it for you. Or, get the template for the stick art, and add the button labels in there for yourself on your custom art. Otherwise, you could just remap the buttons ingame. This all also depends on the PCB they use. If you get lucky, they’ll use GCN so you dont need a converter. Or, they could use DS pcb, andyou’re screwed when it comes to knowing which button corresponds to what. Remember though, the PS2 control has more buttons than the GCN control. (Which voided my button mapping on my Stick…) The Z button was placed horribly, and it needs some sort of counterpart.
Are X-Arcade sticks usually higher than a MAS stick? I seem to have found a dedicated GC MAS stick for around $100…I don’t know if that’s a deal right there, concidering the scarcity.
I’m asking about 180 negotiable for it though–not sure if that’s within your price range. I’ll also throw in a PSX PCB that you can switch in fairly easily in case you ever need a ps2 stick (by fairly easy, I mean it’ll probably take about an hour, but doesn’t require any skill)
you really won’t find anything good below $100. Well… Paik had a couple of these modded GC sticks, I’m not sure if he still has them, and I get the feeling he changed those into PSX sticks. So uhh, they make GC MAS sticks?
I see. I see…The GC Super Pro MAS stick that I saw about $100 are orderable at an online site, not at the official MAS website. It seems to be custom built for GC, as it says that PS and XBox can be supported with an “Add On Module,” and also gives you the option of chosing the colour of face (blue-grey-white or all black), buttons (7 colours), joystick (5 colours), and side panels (5 colours).
So yes, they do make them. Didn’t know they’d be so expensive. (But very nice sticks, chippermonky. If only I wasn’t so financially burdened as I am right now.)
sfried: This is THE best mass produced gamecube stick. Custom made sticks will ALWAYS be the best, but this one has good components, and can be upgraded to best quality sanwa/seimitsu parts down the road, but most people play on these just fine.
