Sounds like a plan
Arrive early as 4 start at 6 just like last time. =]
Won’t see y’all there this weekend though
Aw, man! I really want to be there for this one, but a cruel twist of fate has forced me to choose between GC and Twin Peaks. I’m so hyped up for that series that I might have to pass on this one. >:
Who you watching Twin Peaks with?! I have the gold box set and you could totally watch with me and mor after the tournament… Or during.
One of my friends from back in school: he lives down in Redmond, though. Watching it after the tournament actually sounds pretty awesome, though; I’ll try and figure something out.
If you are not in the Seth Division for Tournamentwars, by all means head to Gameclucks and support the event/venue. There’s a good chance we’ll have TW’s streamed so people can hopefully watch it from there.
Good luck to everyone this Saturday!

I (along with maybe some Portland people) will be attending this.
wish i could go
How long do these tournaments usually go? I’m assuming it’s late enough that I can’t take a bus back.
It will be done in time to take a bus back.
What time? Because I gotta catch buses back to Spanaway
It will not be done in time to bus to Spanaway, only Seattle. You couldn’t even make it to Spanaway if you left as soon as the tournament started <.< sorry homie
Sounds awesome, now I need to find something to bide my time with until then.
haha…all it took was for one person to ask. I like this community.
Top 4 results until Rob posts up.(you should post the bracket)
- The Future
- Cudi-Oh
- Bokkin
- Elias The Flyest
Losing to The Future twice in tournament, although some what expected, left me alittle salty . Especially since most of the time I let huge leads slip away because of my lack of patience and Future’s ability to keep composed in any situation. I think a major part of what separates alot of the vets in these fighting games from the newer players like myself is the amount of patience and composure in tournament they have. Watching some of Cole and LTB’s matches really puts pure reactionary, defensive play into perspective. I really need to focus more on not allowing myself to get comfortable with the lead. I do feel that I’m learning how to not only react in certain situations better, but to also turn off and on my offensive momentum and play pure defense in the situations that demand it. I think the next level will demand that I use the time to my advantage and allow myself to use the option of time out more frequently. Alot of good matches today. I think I have overtime improved my ability to react and punish to alot more situations because of seeing the power of reactionary punishes through Elias’s game play in the hundreds of matches we have played in 4. Playing against Chris Masters today totally disproved my theory of blocking cross up kunai. **You have to stand block it non cross up 90% of the time. If you crouch it will hit you cross up. **I got perfected hardcore our first match and wow I learned my lesson lol Also, dope seeing Portland come out and play, always fun. Wish more people could have come out, but twars is much more important. I will be thinking deeply on my wins and especially my losses today(yesterday now). Hopefully I’ll be able to apply some of the ideas I have been thinking about into my game in the situations that demand these theories to be put into action while also being able to properly execute those ideas.
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLA Fun.
Please believe my Seth, Fuerte, Sagat, Hakan, Blanka, Zangief, Bison and Balrog will be tournament ready in a matter of weeks. Guess what, I’ll be enforcing Blind Select at that point.
Edit: Please believe that will be the last time I make an exception for using those CRTs. I heard dropping combos was all the rage… emphasis on rage.
yes!
Actually despite my randomness I actually decided to make a worthwhile post. Riki I think you have to realize what Rog has to do in situations where the opponent is in the lead. He has to take big risk, watch the spacing especially for the overhead, and the tick throws. Anything full screen should be punished always, similar to what Bookin was doing to me. Practice it in training room, make Rog do random overheads and fullscreen rushes. Practice just ultra’s on reaction to them until its set in stone.
When you have to lead you can watch the opponent scramble to make something happen. IMO this is when I play really basic, and usually straight rushes, c.fierce, and c.rh murder people because there looking for the big damage, and forgot about the annoying pokes Rog has to keep them out. Wait it out and walk up, don’t jump into Rog ever unless you feel the opponent won’t expect it.
Overall your improvement has been crazy over the last year or whatever time it’s been. Same can be said for Bookin, it’s just a matter of time and practicing right .
I was reading this book Awaken the Giant Within it’s a inner strength book and one of the steps to creating lasting change is to find someone who is already getting the results you want and tap into their knowledge. From there you can fine-tune, reshape, and perhaps even make the information better.
This was really important for me when I was learning how to play SFIII, along with researching my character on SRK, and countless videos of course.
Great games to everyone I played, and to everyone I didn’t. Looking forward to the next tournament.
Also, could we get the full results I am curious to see how I did.
You tied for 5th.
