GameClucks Lynnwood SF4 tournaments - 7/1 @7pm

Congratulations to all placers. I hope you are all able to keep pushing yourselves to greater heights.

Future, I’m really resonating with that post…very insightful and refreshing to read.

Thank you for those valuable tips :china: Reacting to dash punches is something I need to work on. In alot of the matches you would get counter hits when you dash punched meaning my timing was just slightly off on the upper cut. I thing low forward might beat dash punch on reaction better than any other normal i have which I should use more with both bison and adon. Also, better reaction to overhead is key as well, especially since adon can throw it for free with his huge throw range. Safe jump option select set ups should be something I always do on your wake up as well. But overall, the things I think I need to take from my losses yesterday are, as you said, punishing Rog’s unsafe offense and just staying on the ground and walking forward.

edit: @Weaimtoplease It’s really up to Rob to upload the results since he has them on his lap top. The Seattle scene as a whole tends to not ulpoad results quite often. I personally would like to see the bracket so I could see where some people lost and won.

I don’t understand how someone could drop combos because they’re playing on a CRT… Reverse lag? I mean there’s no possible chance of lag, although I guess if you’re used to an LCD (that could potentially lag) then the timing could be different. Welcome to my world. Handicapped all day err day in this LCD world while I’m stuck in the past with my CRT.

Nice post future, and GGs everyone. I sure would love to play the future in a tournament someday. I’ve played him like 2 or 3 times ever in sf4. I don’t think we’ve even played in super.

If you’re big on those kind of books that open your mind you should check out Power vs. Force: the Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior. Ask Deezo, this book is the truth.

2 seconds…2 fucking seconds…

Future I hope that the 3/5 set we had did something for you. You won, but by the skin of your teeth. I didn’t know that ex straight beat my ultra…good shit. But really I haven’t been on your level since I started to play this game yet yesderday I was taking very convincing rounds and you we doing things you usually scoff at like wake up headbutt. I’m done with kicking myself for not waiting 2 seconds (which would have 3-0’d you) and I applaud your ability to stay focused and composed to take the set. I really hope the close call will get you fired up. You have been above most of us for along time and I don’t think that’s much motivation. Trying to beat you has been my motivation, and that’s what I have been aiming towards. You say Riki and I have had a huge improvement over the past year, I can’t dissagree. What about you? You are a great player no doubt but you haven’t been forced to get better. I hope you can push forward so that we all can.

I will get you, you are the last on the list.

Robert put it best, “Not all CRTs are the same.” I thought the same way as you before Robert said this. I’ve played on CRTs before, and it’s not a big deal. I thought it was me at first (“I must be fucking up” or “I think my stick might be fudged”), but when there are people who use play on both LCD and CRT regularly dropping multiple combos per round… It begins to let your imagination run wild. :stuck_out_tongue:

Either way, Just dem’ CRTs I don’t think I can function with.

^the crt’s are fine lag wise, it’s the aspect ratio that was killing me. I went for 4/5 tick throws with C. Mashers and I just whiffed throws. I know I’m not the best on execution but damn…4/5? Chris was having the same trouble and our match ended with me doing the thing I hate most in this game. Punishing whiff throws with throws.

This is why I refuse to play on CRTs. The game was designed with a 16:9 ratio, not 4:3.

I will bring my ps3 setup next time, I got one of those asus monitors.

I wish I had the liberty to refuse to play on LCD tvs… -_-

This

choke sandwich with extra lettuce.

^I’d like some fries with that.

edit:

No smileys Future?

3 is the magic number you usually should ultra at~ don’t rely on the idea your opponent might block it.

See my TourneyPlay League post if you all want to do this more… we can add GC SSF4 events to the league we have for Smash and Halo.

Also TPGL is coming… right now SSF4 is not part of it, but could be…

Wait, so are you telling me my opponent won’t be able to block an ultra when the timer reads 33? How did I not know this?!

With 3 seconds left on the clock ultra animation would freeze the game play for the remaining 3 seconds so you get the win. I remember one time someone did that to me at like 5 seconds when we were both at chip then I reverse ultra’d him but my ultra animation combined with his took longer than the entire 5 seconds.

Still no results? Come on Rob it’s as easy as copy n paste. It’s important for the scene to always post results. Always.

aspect ratio makes a difference? I dont see it unless a lifebar is cut off or something. plz explain.

Spacing is different (if the xbox isn’t set properly) - horizontal distances being closer than they look can really mess with you, and square screen also means less distance to work with, It’s really odd, I hate playing SF4 in 4:3.
