i have’ta concur on this note, and i’ll add to this.
Asuka 120% final burning festival. beautiful sprites that are pretty damn clean and sharp for their time, bright and deep colors for characters and backrounds. plus, cute+interestingly different character designs.
SFA2/3 either one has incredible color palettes.
GGAC. great color schemes, well animated, and super clean and sharp sprites. BB does move more clunky, even if the sprites are sharper.
MBAA has ugly as hell jaggy sprites which makes you wince…but the framerate is unmatched by any game. those skirts,shirts, and hair,… billow, flap, and wave which so much super high framerates that it leaves you bedazzled.
MvC2 has great colors and framerates, but backrounds are 3D polys so you can’t factor that in.
now that i mention mvc2, should we even mention the HD upgrades?
since the DLC of MvC2 for ps3 is what most people are thinking of…or are we talking about console disc ports only?
cause vanguard princess is the top of the list in regards to spritework-in sharpness and detail…maybe not framerates persay.
3rd strike has gorgeous framerates but ugly as hell dark muddy and muted color schemes.
arcana heart 3 has gorgeous colors for characters and backrounds…and great sharpness and cleanliness of sprites.
samurai shodown 5 has great colors but somewhat jaggy…just a tad jaggy…and low framerates don’t help…but the colors for the backrounds and characters are so well meshed that it deserves a nod of approval…near SFA2/3 levels of color saturation. delicious looking colors.
KoF games, like most snk games, have nice to great framerates…but jaggy sprites plus muted colors make KoF sorta “meh” type of mentions.
