Sano here wondering if anyone from Studio Udon (And I mean ANYONE) will come down to New York for the Game On Show. Pretty please? I’ll eat all my veggies!
Studio Udon is the Company that puts out the US Street Fighter Comic Book.
Tournament Shnournament. I find it HARD to believe that Capcom will not be present in any shape/size/form. Besides, the biggest draws to these shows are always private Retailers selling Soundtracks, Artbooks, Models and the like.
i will be going to that show.Hopefully anybody from udon will come.
Good to know! I’ll prolly be wearing my Sagara Sanosuke shirt that has him smiling with his fist clenched and a name tag that says ‘Sano,’ so if you see me say hello!
I just got my ticket, IT’S ONLY TWELVE BUCKS!
I just brought my ticket and registered to the Site for updates. One of the questions for registration was which console is your favorite, PS2, X-Box, Gamecube, etc. So obviously the above statement is misinformation that the show will be mostly PC Games BECAUSE THE SHOW IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO BE ABOUT CONSOLE GAMING. I’m not even sure what your info is based on seeing as how this is New York’s FIRST BIG GAMING EXPO.
wha O_o
I did not say the show isnt about console gaming, i said the tournaments are only in PC FPS games and SSBM, soul caliber 2 and ngage games :-,k back to comic book talking
Hey sorry about that. It’s next week, who’s going?
I might attend it on Saturday Oct 16. I have work so I can’t make it on either Thurs or Fri. I looked at their website but I can’t find what time they open the doors to the public.
They open their doors at 8:00 AM on all four days from what I remember. I took Thursday and Friday off from work so I’ll be there 24/7. Anyone who comes, you can meet me since I’ll have my Cell on me. Ring me up at (Written this way to cut down on prank calls) onethreefourseventwofourninefourzerofourfour.
Okay just got the times.
Thursday - 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Friday - 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday - 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Sunday - 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
I will be there. I hope to meet ya.
Back from the Show!
On the downside, Capcom and SNK were not present. But Sammy was! I spent most of the four days playing Guilty Gear X2 Reload on the XBox, and not to mention, the four player Guilty Gear Isuka Tournament on PS2! I didn’t win, but it was great playing Isuka early since it’s due November 2nd! Oh yeah, at the show they had free Liquir and free Internet, so all my Posts in the last 4 Days were straight from there! Hope I didn’t sound too waisted…
Me and Capcom Fan just missed each other, but I did run into Zerohunter43 of Gamefaqs. He said CVS2 was in the Gamecube jeep but only on Friday. I didn’t see it, but I’ll take his word for it so I can take some comfort that Capcom and SNK were there in a sense, the Gamecube Jeep rotated it’s Games a bunch of times so it could be.
What’s the Gamecube/Nintendo jeep? If you watched Pulse on G4 Tech TV last week, a guy naemd Blue with blue hair was driving it around California. It’s a ‘Pimp my Ride’ type of jeep that has Five Gamecube Systems with screens and controllers. Two in the backseat, two on both sides of the jeep, and if you open the back trunk vertically, it has a HUGE screen! I was playing Donkey Konga on the back of the jeep with actual drum controllers!
For Tekken they had a joystick tha involved no hands. It was a pole that you had to punch and kick around to to get the game characters to do so. After I accidently punched the pole, I left with my two game winning streak!
Sony had no presence, but people still showcased games on PS2s. There were no Handheld Games. It was mostly an XBox show.
There was lots of Games I got to play, to many to list or even remember. But I played the new Mortal Kombat, the new Def Jam, Crash Bandicoot, X-Men Legends, Fable, Godzilla, Soul Calibur and many, many, more. They had a Warhawk Demo. There were Dance Dance Revolution people doing there dancing thing. The biggest crowds were either for Guilty Gear X2 and Isuka and the DDR crowd, so just like real Arcades it was the 2D Fighting Game Fans vs. the Dancing Fans! But unlike the Arcade, we didn’t have to shell out Tokens or Quarters to get our Game on!
They showed all the comedic Online Halo Movies. No Halo 2 for all you Halo fans.
I got a bunch of free Magazines like EGM, Gamer’s Republic, etc.
And you know, of course I asked a Sammy rep about Sammy vs. Capcom! I didn’t get a straight answer, but here’s how the conversation went. I won’t reveal his name or anything since stuff like that gets people in trouble, makes it hard for people to talk to outsiders, etc. So I’ll call him Racer X.
SANO: Excuse me, do you know anything about Sammy vs. Capcom?
RACER X: No, but that would be cool. If they can make a Capcom vs. SNK Game I’m sure they can make a Sammy vs. Capcom Game. (Methinks he’s acting like he knows nothing. Didn’t make eye contact…)
SANO: Yeah, I heard the Game was announced a year ago, but it’s been a year. (Me trying to get more info…)
RACER X: Yeah, the only thing I know is that a joint project got shelved because they wanted the merger with Sega to go smoothly, but I don’t know what that project was. Sorry, I’m out of the loop with these things. (Eye contact!)
SANO: OK, thanks. I asked the question, I fulfilled my Internet duty.
RACER X: (Laughs.)
So it’s possible that Sammy vs. Capcom got shelved for the merger. On the other hand, he could be discussing another joint effort entirely. Well, that’s the best I could do…
The rest of the show was dedicated towards technology. They had handheld DVD Players you could download Movies too for watching, a Robot Hello Kitty, a Robot Dog(In the Robot Booth they showed the extended Astro Boy TV Anime Trailer!), Refridgerators with TVs, Stoves with TVs, The new Tivo Box, PCs, laptops, etc.
Then their were celebrites. Biz Markie deejayed on Friday. Joe Buddon, N.O.R.E., Ed Lover, Chris and Rosalie from the Sopranos were there. The ‘Rappers’ were promoting Def Jam, I have no idea what people from the Sopranos were promoting. Perhaps a future Sopranos Video Game? I can see it now, ten hours of talking and then in the last minute of the game the most obvious person gets whacked! Ah, methinks they were there just to draw more people.
And even though SNK and Capcom where no shows, thank goodness for cosplayers! I saw 2 Sakuras, Leon Kennedy, Kyosuke, Iori Yagami, Kyo in the Nests Outfit, K’, and for Guilty Gear I saw Dizzy, Chip Zanuff and A.B.A. There were Final Fantasy cosplayers too, and official Stormtroopers and Bloodrayne Cosplayers were there!
Anyway, at Twelve Dollars for Four Days the show couldn’t be beat. I wish they would of had exhibitors selling stuff to make up for no Big Apple Anime Fest (Thanks GOP for taking up all the Hotels during the Summer, GRRR!) but I guess me wallet was happy since I didn’t spen a lot.
Now Udoneko, GET CAPCOM TO COME NEXT YEAR PLEEEEEEEASE!
I should have Pics of the show here on Saturday if all goes as planned.
I went to it on Saturday. That place was packed, didn’t think it would be that crowded. It got crazy when the Def Jam rappers made their appearance, that whole area was jammed up. It was good though, mainly stayed in the video game area. I got a few drinks, picked up a few free magazines, and played some MK:D, Fight Club, Bloodrayne 2 and some other games. The chick in the Bloodrayne outfit was tight, took a bunch of pictures of her.
Too bad we didn’t get to meet up sano, maybe some other time.
All in all, it was a good showing. Hope they do it again next year.
Yeah, there was a few people at Madman’s Cafe I wanted to meet up with, Falikors and Daala, but with the Bulletin Boards at MMCAFE down, it wasn’t easy to get in touch with them. Ah well, met a Gamefaqer at least!
Hey sorry guys. None of my pictures came out. Darn disposable cameras! Next time I’ll either go digital or go back to using Polaroids. I’m leaning towards going digital.
The show was dissapointing but i did enjoy playing mkd and watching people play ddr. That game is very comical.
ANNUAL BUMP!
Okay I did create a thread about this in the General Discussion Thread but no one posted on the thread and the forum monster ate it so I’m just bumping this old one.
