Well, that much is obvious. Though with work, school, and other commitments eating up my life I can’t travel as much as I would like. Instead I am hoping to find decent local comp as most of the folks who play any form of games at all tend to stick to RPGs, platformers, sports, and FPS games.
The last two are genres I personally don’t find favor with, but nobody else seems to care for fightman games in my circle.
What games does Ghaleon host, btw? I am betting at least Smash Brawl on account of finding his Wii at Season’s Beatings. Mainly play SF4 and Brawl myself and would like to try Blazblue but don’t because it looks much too quick for my old hands
Yeah guys, just PM me for an address if you want to come out – we have a pretty big decent Wed crew. We have a number of guys who mainly play SF4 but the rest of us play other shit instead, haha. I’ve never played Smash outside of it being a goofy party game, but we can play everything else mostly. My main high-level is 3s, Marvel, UMK3, SFIV, SF2, etc. The OG Cle crew is also really high in Tekken. But yeah, we play lots of random stuff too – we got Rival Schools and some obscure Saturn stuff out last time. I can play BB but don’t take it serious.
Does anyone wanna go to the Arcade Legends tourney on 11/7? They have SF4 puke and T6 going on. They need a damn UMk3 and NBA Jam
There’s an NBA Jam TE for sale in N. KY for $600 – lol. I don’t think I can get Jesse at Legends to buy it though. I want it but will you guys play it every week?? I kinda doubt you can hang with Barkley, ooh
Tim Static is selling his UMK3 machine for $600. Ed or someone, wanna go in on it?
CLEVELAND coming back to the arcade? That makes my day. Heck, that makes my week. It’s been a ghost town lately. We need to get some excitement in the place.
For the tourney on the 7th, I added ST arcade and took out GG arcade so that should be a bright spot.
I’m looking for suggestions for another arcade side tourney. I was thinking a puzzle game like Super Puzzle Fighter II or Magical Drop 3. I’ll give you guys the choice since you are (potentially) coming the farthest.
If I can obtain the wiring needed for the sound board and figure out how to hook it up, I MAY be able to get NBA jam in a cab for the 7th. It would most likely be a 2p cab but it’s better than none I suppose. Since it’s a 3 button game, the options are limited
Ghaleon needs a new arcade world record. I can pop some Metamorphic Force back in
$600 is actually a bit high for a NBA Jam TE. A guy in Cincy was selling for $400 last month. That seems to be the going rate these days. You could probably talk him down since he won’t sell it for that much. $600 is fair but also a bit high for UMK3. The value has gone down quite a bit in the last 2 years. I see them for $500 or less on a regular basis. It’s a buyers market right now for arcade games.
Cool man, thanks so much for the info. If I can get a machine down to those prices I might have to pick one up for sure. Puzzle Fighter tourney would be fantastic.
That would RULE to have NBA Jam up. I know we’ll be on there breaking backboards all day. 2P is fine, all that matters is another human is getting crippled
If by ttt you mean Tekken Tag Tournament, guess what. I just got one this week. It need some work though. I was going to fix it up and sell it. Depending on what the problem is, I would give you a heck of a deal if you could find a way to come get it. If you are proficient in fixing arcade machines, I may be able to just sell it to you as is. Did you have a price cap in mind? PM me if you want some info on it.
I will be hosting Tekken6 BR weeklies at my apartment in Columbus. I was trying to decide on a day, but I want to be mindful of tekken sessions at GW Cincy. Ideally, I was thinking Thursday is perfect. That means the first session would be Thursday, Oct. 29…
This would mean casuals at my place once a week from around 6PM until 11PM or possibly later. I have one setup, so someone could bring another setup if they would like. I also have another tiny tv/vcr combo with a/v plugs on the front.
It is my intention to grow the scene here in Columbus and Ohio in general. Anyone willing to come out is welcome as long as they respect house rules. I don’t wan an animal house. That means everyone comes with gaming on their minds, humble pie in their mouths, and no strange smells. Oh, and check your shoes at the door
I look forward to seeing everyone in the central Ohio area at my place very soon.
PM me if you need my address and phone number. Always be sure to call ahead of time or check the boards in case our tekken session is cancelled or moved to another day.
A singles double elim tournament will also be held at my place on a day of the month TBD. I think Columbus is ideal for an Ohio monthly, because it sits directly between Cleveland and KY/Cincy.
What are your thoughts? I will repost this in the other Ohio threads.
If you’re getting and NBA Jam type game anyone ever consider NBA Showtime? I played the tar out of that on the Dreamcast. It is the Super Turbo of the NBA Jam series. Plus, it has the old NBC Basketball John Tesh music intro. Still dig it.
Put me in as a fan of MK4. How can anyone hate a game where you can rip your opponent’s leg off and beat them senseless with it. It is probably my favorite fatality in the series! I also enjoyed the more free flow with the combos and the sidestep to annoy subzero people with. Still played largely on a 2d plane. Plus it is the Mortal Kombat with the most so-bad-it’s-good endings I have ever seen. Do note I played this most on the N64. I’m sure some savvy youngster has posted those comical ending sequences on yootoob somewhere.
