Tourney starts at 2pm again. The biggest problem I see with PnT is they use one set-up, take forever to get a match together, and have “filler rounds” where someone must play with someone but advances no matter what, over giving them a bye.
The guy running the tourney wasn’t there and the employee I asked had no idea what the prizes are. But its probably store credit (SSF4 was like $25 for 1st place I think?)
Again, I’m willing to host before the tournament. Just send a PM and I’ll give out my info. I’d have two 360 set-ups for sure.
Out of curiosity, how are Fridays for many of you? I was thinking of possibly hosting an MvC3 tournament in our party rooms since they aren’t really used on Fridays if there is enough interest. I was thinking of doing it in May after finals for colleges. Starting time would be like 4 or 5pm.

I just remembered I have a math test tomorrow morning (yes, on a saturday morning) at 10:45 and probably wont be done till noon. After that i’ll make it over there asap and hopefully you guys are still there.

Really small turnout. I think 8 entrants? There were 2 set-ups (One was updated, and one wasn’t). They didn’t feel like moving the updated one out to where people can plug in their controllers so we ended up playing on the un-updated xbox. I didn’t think much of it myself but after rewatching the videos of my brother and myself playing against Steve in winner/loser finals, we both would have killed his Sentinel early early on and the results would have most definitely turned out differently in my eyes. I feel like the HDTV REALLY messed with our inputs too. I played at home prior to the tournament and I was flawless with all of my combos and execution. When I played there, my brother and I dropped so much soap.
Regardless, Steve played a good keepaway game + sent’s bnb all day. The tournament ended at about 4:30 so it went by much more quickly. I would have gone up to hang out with you guys post tournament but I went to Orlando yesterday and I spent $30 in gas.

That sounds really lame that you couldn’t play on the updated. It sounds like the organizers don’t really care about running tourney’s…lol whatever. Who from here in town went and how did they place?
Also Thanh, I got some pointers for you after watching those videos. Obviously your opponents couldn’t block anything so there’s nothing to say about that XD It seems like you had some problems with getting in on Sent. When it’s Wesker vs. Sent you sould super jump gunshot all day until he starts doing random harddrives. I’ve found if you can make Sentinals taste a bit of there own medicine by laming them out, they’ll get frustrated and start messing up. Now that’s not the only thing you should do…just a little tip I though I’d share.
Did you have to pay money to play in the tournament? That’s pretty weak that there were no prizes; I’m glad I didn’t drive all the way out there… because I totally would have won.
Still not sure if I want to keep playing marvel. I feel like I’ve barely spent any time with it and it would be a waste to stop now… maybe I’ll just play it until AE.
@Matt - I’ll keep that in mind. I use air gun more for approach than for anti-zoning. I don’t have a lot of experience against very effective keepaway teams so this got me bad. Personally I don’t find Sent himself to be the problem, its hidden missiles that get me. Its either approach and get raped by missiles, or block and eat tons of chip with little to no opening in between. My Hsien-Ko team was powerless against it. After the tournament, I played casuals with him and my X-23 team I built when the rules were on 32 default beat him 2-0. I was a bit angry that worked since it was the team I was least confident in playing due to how little time I’ve put into it.

@Rob - It was a $5 entry fee and $2.50 buy back. Fortunately I didn’t have to deal with buy backs cause Ocala is free.
I’m gonna take a bit of a Marvel break. Probably going to go back to 3S and SSF4 just for fun. Without a good scene here, its not that fun. I actually get the most enjoyment out of fighting games whenever I go to your meet ups. Its fun playing with people who enjoy fighting games, know what they’re talking about, and don’t get overly salty when losing. I have improved a lot since meeting you guys.

I used to get really salty back in the vanilla SF4 days (as if they were even than long ago lol), but then I went home and became a family man. Now I have a new outlook on life.
I feel like Gainesville needs more poverty games to play, so I will be bringing Melty Blood and AH3 more frequently. I know Jon will be pleased.
