A new person!
Well… I’m not sure how many of us play 3D fighters [Didn’t someone play Soul Calibur with Dave while he was still here?], but we usually meet at Folken Fanel’s house. If you’re willing to host people, we could probably have some games there too if he’s busy for some reason.
As for consoles, you don’t really have to worry about that. We might have a gathering this Saturday as well. Anyway, welcome to SRK.
yeah, ive known dave for like 8 years now, we’ve played the various soul caliburs and tekkens over the years and i met darius when i moved to gainesville and SC4 came out. i saw that dave moved back to tampa and darius is mad busy with law school so the 3d scene in gainesville is all but dead. makes it hard in tekken 6 with like 42 characters, i feel so behind in that game.
in any event, yeah marvel looks fun and i’m always down to get my ass handed to me in some street fighter. right now my schedule is looking like i have wed and sun completely free and saturdays i can play do something early from like 12-4 or late like after 10 30 due to work.
I play Tekken but I just picked it up. I also haven’t been showing up to the gatherings lately because I have a friend from Japan staying at home in Orlando. But I’m sure we’ll meet if you start showing up.
Mike, you still play KOF? I heard you picked it up in China since the SF comp isn’t that great there. Do you play 98 or 2002?
I’m free for Saturday but Idk about sunday. My mom and little brother are coming into town from orlando but probably not until later in the day. I’ll let you know when I find out more.
Yeah, the connection was gdlk, feel like no lag, or maybe because I am new to the game. I like to know whose idea is it to hold down assist for switching, it is so dumb.
I’ve actually only been living in Gainesville for a few months now and been looking for a sort of get together. Having been following MvC3 and doing a search on a whim for it in Gainesville…lo and behold there’s a thread on shoryuken dedicated to it!
I’m actually relatively new to this sort of community, aside from dabbles in the distant past. I didn’t really start dabbling in fighting games until my brother got me into Mortal Kombat, and later Tekken in the PS1 days. I really enjoyed MvC2 and played it a lot at home and at an old local arcade, though I don’t fancy myself a particularly good player. In the past year I ended up watching some streams of SSF4 and other things in EVO, and bought that on a whim to try and get back into fighting games. I’ve only ever physically been to one tournament by chance, as it was happening in St Augustine while I was at a convention with some friends at the same venue. I figured MvC3 is something fresh and new for everyone, and this would be as good a time as any to stretch out my thumbs and get things done.
PS3 is the console I have SSF4 for, and what I’m getting MvC3 for. I don’t actually have it yet though, as I ordered it off of Amazon for the 10 dollars off a future purchase deal and it hasn’t shipped yet. At any rate, just wanted to make a post and get the introductions out of the way.
Hah, It might well change. I don’t really know anyone here, so I’m not poisoned yet.
Appreciate the welcome. I look forward to the many ass whippings I’ll receive until I get my bearings. Just a curious question: How many of you have sticks? I’ll probably look into one eventually, but I’m currently rocking the pad.
Seph, it’s just Petey that runs his mouth without thinking. You know, being from the Tampa FG community and all.
You can borrow mine btw. I used to only have a PS3 Hori when everyone played 360 back home so I can sympathize.

Even then, Matt’s the only one that’s godlike on AH3. Petey just plays lol j.C Weiss and wins without even playing the game.
Don’t worry. If you guys need someone to beat up on, I’m completely new to SSF4. Like, I play against people who do nothing but wakeup Shoryukens online new.
Also, we definitely have enough sticks, so no one has to worry about that.
I figured now would be a good time to look with the release of MvC3, so yeah.
I always worry about the ones who say don’t expect anything from them though… I’m not TOTALLY new at SSF4, but I’m not exactly good at it either. Suppose I’ll practice while I wait for MvC3 to ship.
