GAH GRAKH GAH! (Victory is Mine!) Official Firebrand Discussion Thread!

Hmm, I can’t seem to even connect a Morrigan c.L off of your setup, Chrisis…

Oh reading it again I think you’re right. Oh well.

Sorry for the confusing syntax. >.< Yeah this was tested raw tagging into Viper against those targets. Though is pretty cross applicable with various other characters depending on their options. I think Doom and Viper are the optimal 2 for it however.

Was using this tech all Friday and Saturday, it turns Firebrand into a ToD character against all of the ideal targets which is a big deal. Killing Ryu in 1 hit as opposed to killing Ryu in 2 hits is a big deal.

Looking forward to seeing some vids. I’ve been trying to apply it with Firebrand and Doom and it gets some pretty beast numbers. Just need to edge it over that 1 million mark. Props for all the work you’re putting in with firebrand.

So i do bon voyage, tag in doom and depending on the character i will be able to launch with S or otg with H/M? and this dodges the effects of hitstun Im assuming? if so my firrbrand / modok / doom team just became super dangerous…

i got some but im trying to get better

That requires completing all the missions, i think beating the game with him and playing him over 100 times. Not everyone does missions since they arent needed to learn BnBs and most ppl dont even play 1 player mode. Yeah ppl might have his titles, but maybe theyre not paying attention to ur request or even in this thread from when u asked. Benefit of the doubt. Good luck in your searches

Arcade: Rival Warrior
Arcade VH: King Among Demons
5 Missions: Master of Dark Arts
10 Missions: ?
30 Times: Wild Thing
100 Times: ?

You’re right, but I still think it is highly improbable that no one in this thread has his titles. I also think that it’s pretty diffucult to “miss” a post. I did give you the benefit of the doubt, though.

Oh, and your good luck wishes apparently worked, LOL.

Thanks so much, sir!

I’m sure you all know that Firebrand’s silly hitboxes hit both in front and behind him and above/below him for air. I was testing some stuff with him this weekend and starting to think that his jump S despite being a high damage opener shouldn’t be the attack used out of swoop approaches. Since it’s not special cancellable you don’t get a get out of advance guard for free with it and only get something like a dash A while they’re still in block stun as opposed to being able to get right in there and set up your scariest mix up. What do people think about all the alternatives out of 214B? I’m going to test them all but it’s much easier to test things with partners which I don’t have today. >.<

Did a lot of additional testing about how advance guard interacts with Firebrand. Despite placing in tournies with him I was just wrong about using his jump S ever, sure its hit box is good, but jump B, C, and A are all infinitely better thanks to their properties. Being able to command dash cancel them makes every block on advance guard or not into a scary mix up.

Hey guys, decided to pick up firebrand and today has been my second day using him (training mode only though lol). At the moment my team consists of Firebrand on point and vergil second. Not too sure who to use as an anchor but I’m using Hawkeye just because I’m familiar with him.

After spending an hour or so in training mode, I’ve started using unblockable setups that will hopefully lead to TOD combos. I’m trying my best to use only 2 meters but i think i can only get roughly 1.1 million. The setup itself is the standard bnb combo but rather than just finish with Dark Fire only, I THC with Vergil. Firebrand is able to recover before Dimension Slash finishes and can start charging Demon Missile.

Haven’t tested it too much but I think the opponent can roll forward to avoid the demon missile. The timing on the setup itself isn’t strict since you can actually do it too early and Firebrand will swoop down before the opponent gets up. I’m thinking maybe you could dash back then do demon missile to avoid those who try to escape by rolling forward.

Is there a setup like this that already exists? Hopefully we can flesh it out if it hasn’t.

I was working on something similar, any time after the initial launch so either post dive kick or post bon voyage: stand C and summon Vajra assist, S to launch then jump cancel into demon missile C to set up meaty unblockables.

I guess the best setup is one that doesn’t require meter lol. Have you tried it in matches? If so, how well is that working out for you?

Hey Chrisis, I CANNOT for the life of me get the raw tag thing to work with Doom. Its simple enough with Viper, (coincidentally been thinking about picking her up anyway) but are you sure its possible with Doom? His launchers are fast enough, but when you raw tag him in he seems to pose for too long. Am I missing something?

Me neither. I need to see a video of what to watch out for as sometimes Doom is coming in from the corner as opposed to coming INTO the corner… and this happens with same characters… like I know it shoud happen with wesker but sometimes it doesn’t, and I’ve never been able to follow up the hard tag.

I know you can set up the OTG version with Doom, but I think the Viper one is the most reliable one for doing something off of hit. >.<

For through life of me i can’t emulate a hard knockdown with this tactic

Haha, it looks like we’re all hurtin’ for video tutorials  Maybe we can get the attention of one of the SRKers who love to make “tech” videos? FlyingVe comes to mind…
Played around a bit more with it yesterday. To get the raw tag with Viper and go straight into S, you need to bounce them IN THE CORNER with Bon Voyage. To get the Hard Knockdown version that Doom uses, Firebrand has to throw them TOWARDS the corner, but not BE in the corner when he does the Bon Voyage. For example, jump in training mode, and have firebrands BACK against the corner, and do a Bon Voyage and raw tag doom as soon as possible. When Doom flys in, his kick will miss and you get the hard knockdown. You do have to be pretty far away from the corner to get it to work consistently though by the looks of it.

Unfortunately, if Firebrand does a combo thats too long, he gets too close to the corner for this to work properly. Its a good damage option if you find yourself cornered and see an opening to make a counter offensive, but for Doom users, its not as applicable for big damage off of your Firebrand BnB as it is for Viper. Man, Viper is looking more and more interesting. Currently weighing up the pros and cons of Doom vs Viper, but I feel like I might be a bit too crap at this game to use Viper. :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway, thats a discussion for the team thread.
