GAH GRAKH GAH! (Victory is Mine!) Official Firebrand Discussion Thread!

Gee, thanks a lot for the answer, fellas.

Entitlement much?

Maybe ppl dont have all of his titles. Or they rather spend their time learning the game instead of titles. google or youtube it, there’s prob images or a video with em

ya most people here wont care about that stuff, gamefaqs would know more about unlocking shit

I apologize, I’m primarily spending my time playing firebrand in tournaments and training mode only one of which is on my console, I don’t even know where I’d check what titles I had for him. As some others have stated this may not be the ideal place to check those things as it doesn’t impact tournament play.

Chrisis i have two questions for u.

  1. what is your go to bnb off of a normal hit and off of the dragging wall bounce thing?
I’ve been using cr mhs sj mmh d+h qcb +L cr hs sj mmh qcf +S s sj mhs hyper. Is there a better way to optimize this ?
2)what mixups do u use to open up ur opponents ? aside from the unblockable.
I’ve been using demon missile m plus beam assist or qcb+m/l with assist for some weird overhead mixup into wall drag thing. the latter has been very risky even with an assist covering the approach (many people will jump and mash throw during my command dash)

I’m refining my B&B right now, gonna use the Viper tag tech for corner situations against all applicable characters otherwise I’m being pretty simple/boring:
Whatever into 2B, 2C+Burn kick xx 236A, 2C, S /-, B, B, C, 2C 214A -/, 2C, S /-, B, B, C 236S, back dash, S,/-, C, S -/ Vajra, 236A+B, (Vajra hits), 236A+B Does between 750 and 880K depending on the opener and my mashing/spacing the supers.

With dry tag:
Whatever into 2B, 2C+Burn kick xx 236A, 2C, S /-, B, B, C xx 236S, dry tag Viper, S /-, B, B, C 9, B, C, S -/ (summon vajra), 623A xx 62369A, (Vajra hits), 623A xx 214A+B DHC to firebrand 236A+B does between 930 K and 1.1 million depending on mashing, spacing, opener, etc.

I’m actually working on getting my mix up into muscle memory, but a lot of it is based around getting cover either from an assist or from spit followed by luminous then forcing someone to block an air 214B, S since that leaves you in their face with massive advantage if they advance guard or don’t and you can go straight into instant overhead nonsense.

I just went into the lab to test out the Viper raw tag tech against the cast to get some weird results. I don’t have Jill or Shuma but both of them have weird hit boxes so I’ll test at a friend’s place in a bit.

The general breakdown:
Whenever Firebrand starts a combo on a near cornered or cornered opponent so that bon voyage does not have an extended dragging animation against certain characters you get to dry tag into another character to get more damage than you would out of Firebrand, often converting the hit into a kill. There are multiple techniques of this and different situations that can happen, this is going to cover the situation of using bon voyage near/at the wall. For this first tech the goal is to have the raw tag hit then link an S as the enemy is falling. There are 3 different reactions different characters can have to the bon voyage raw tag in the corner.

This includes bon voyage from mid screen, as long as Firebrnad lets go of the enemy in the corner as opposed to throwing them toward the corner this works, thus giving you time to hit confirm!

  1. They could get hit by the tagger coming from mid screen, causing the spinning knock down allowing the character to potentially combo afterward. This will henceforth be referred to as IDEAL.

  2. The opponent is hit by the tagging character as they come in from the corner, with this the hit comes too early and aside from 2A or very fast supers it’s very hard to get anything to link after this, since you flip and come from the corner this will be referred to as FLIP.

  3. The tagger comes in from midscreen, but the tag whiffs the opponent entirely, unless Firebrand launches someone from far from the corner allowing strong OTG follow ups this is far from what’s preferable and is more of a safe dry tag technique, this will be referred to as KNOCKDOWN.

General rules:

She-Hulk: Knockdown.
Taskmaster: Knockdown.

Love hitting Firebrand unblockables WITHOUT using assists. I just charge that swoop up watching them holding down back, expecting an easy punish, then BAM enjoy this Firebrand BnB. I swear I can see the salt on the victim’s face when I do this.

It’s not entitlement, it’s just surprise. I’m not saying people are forced to answer my question, I am just surprised at the indolence regarding a small, accessible and maximally simple question. Maybe I’m a freak of some sort, but I do think that when someone asks an honest and extremely short question (it’s not like you would need to type a paragraph to answer my question, is it?) to a group of people, it is simply an act of niceness to give him an answer.

Yeah, people have had Firebrand for hundreds of hours, and you tell me no one has his titles? I think you would agree with me that it is highly improbable that absolutely none of the people who surf this thread have at least some of his titles. “Learning the game” inherently means getting his titles, if you play Firebrand.

And no, neither Google nor YouTube help. I’d already searched high and low for his titles before posting here.

I already tried GameFAQs, to no avail.

It’s okay, thanks anyway, dude. Also, in my experience, this place does have its share of players who have an eye for detail and character flavour. Just thought there’d be some in the Firebrand thread.

BTW, I love your team, man.

Glad you enjoy the team! It’s very scary when utilized correctly. There are definitely players interested in that kind of thing, I’m just apologizing since in general people seem to keep this thread for strategy/technique. In the Viper forums we have a casual thread for a lot of the other stuff, it may be best to make one of those here as well.

I definitely wouldn’t want to play you, haha.

And yeah, I know people here focus on discussing strategy, but is it such a pain in the ass to answer a question that minimally changes the turn of the thread? Is there some sort of godly law that forbids talking about stuff that is not strictly strategy-related or something? Sounds pretty unlikely, doesn’t it? I mean, what’s the big deal? Do I really have to make a separate thread just to ask an innocent and incredibly simple question? After all, who cares that the question is a slight change of turn?

cause it has nothing to do with winning, or playing in tournaments and thats what people care about

So? Like I said before, answering such a minimal question would be, first, nice, and second, nothing that would inflict excruciating pain upon you. Especially since probably 80% of the people who surf this thread know what his titles are.

your missing the point

I don’t think I am.

if you werent you wouldnt keep posting. Im not trying to be rude but if no one cares then no one is going to post about that topic.

Wha?

Dude, I am posting simply because you said something to me. And like I said before, I was simply surprised at the indifference at a polite and honest question. I mean, when people ask you a question, don’t you, like, you know, answer? It’s a matter of mere communication.

Nice stuff Chrisis. Knowledge like that is EXACTLY why we need a dedicated person to take over this thread, so we can help Firebrand users out everywhere.

On another note, I was messing with Hell Spitfire H today in training mode, and I noticed that against a standing opponent you can actually link 3 of them in a row, and this does like 300K damage. It probably has no practical use, but maybe someone will figure something neat out with it.

Good stuff Chrisis! I was looking for a list like this. Out of curiousity, can all of the characters who get an ideal situation after a tag out combo afterwards? I’ve been trying for a little while to see if I can get a combo afterwards with Skrull but I can’t seem to be able to time it, and I can’t tell if its just my execution or if its just not possible.

im pretty sure it was done by raw tagging in viper VS those characters

but i was also confused by the general syntax of chrisis’ post

would like to know the specifics
