Ahh, the Red Guy. I only watched that show for him.
Firebrand looks like he should go with my MODOK.
If he can fit as anchor, Storm/MODOK/Firebrand will never touch the ground.
That is my plan, pair him with modok
Well that was a little disappointing, I was hoping max would either post what his new move was in luminous body, show us some luminous body only combos, or some level 3 only combos. Guess ill have wait for release to check out the latter 2 and at this point Im pretty sure w/e move it is seth was referring to has been removed or was never implemented to begin with.
He still looks good though. I wonder what assist is gonna become his go to assist, I thought it would be the ground fire assist but maybe I was wrong.
Was it ever confirmed he had new moves during Luminous Body? I’m sure if he did Max would’ve detailed it.
Storm can’t float in ultimate so i heard
She can still float, she just can’t super jump, float and proceed to call assists like she could in vanilla. Justin said she can still float and call assists just not out of a super jump anymore.
Well seth said he got a new move, but it was never explicitly confirmed by nitsuma and them plus it was never actually seen. Now Im pretty sure it was either planned and didn’t make it in, or was taken out for w/e reason.
I think his air dash is only 2 way and it goes at a downwards angle, so it’s not like you can rely on his air dash to runaway and call Dark Harmonizer for fun. That air dash I think won’t be as useful as his flight and his swooping around specials.
Im feeling those flight cancels. It almost seems like he has too many tools. Cant wait till the release date!
It’s technically 3-way, since he can dash back to the ground. It’s not about air dashing to get away in the air so much as it is the ability to maneuver around your opponent.
So I was just watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIV7-ewm8S4 (Max’s breakdown) for like the fourth time seeing if I could pick up on something I missed and I noticed something interesting about his swooping assist (Demon Missile H).
If you look at roughly the 13:42 mark when he shows off the swooping assist, it looks like Cap should have hit him when he did his little backwards float before actually attacking. So is it just me or does it look like it has a bit of start-up invincibility? If this is true, combined with the way it arcs making it naturally hard to punish, Demon Missile H could be a pretty decent assist.
got to play with firebrand a little at nycc but wasn’t able to test much since there isn’t an easily accessible (remotely reliable) movelist any place or not that one that i know of.
anyway thought it might be a good idea to post some of that up so someone else who gets to play him anytime soon doesn’t have to waste much time trying to figure out “how the fuck to command dash”/“do whatever”
QCB +L/M/H in the air is the Hell Dive (air dash) command. button strength determining the direction of the dash
-L is pretty much a fastfall that gets you almost immediately back to the ground
-M is an airdash downforward.
-H is an airdash downback.
QCB +S is his generic flight mode.
things like these (minus directional commands) are pretty much detailed well enough in maximillian’s latest “assist me” episode so this coupled with the fact that my lazyass doesn’t want to sit here and write out each button’s specific version of whatever special means i’ll just write level 0 crap like:
QCF +L/M/H is Hell Spitfire, his fireball series. works in air and ground. H version has mad startup but can OTG and comes with flamecarpet-like effect.
QCF +S is Bon Voyage, the wallslam move. according to that assist me vid, this is a command throw. it works in combos no one at nycc was very interested in blocking, yknow… like ever so i couldn’t tell you if this shit is unblockable. seems like the closer to the corner you are the less he drags the opponent on the floor and perhaps the less the combo is scaled.
DP +L/M/H is Demon Missile, according to the marvel site… anyway it’s a lunging forward type move. L and M cause auto-flight. H switches sides. blahblahblah max’s vid.
back, back next to the wall is the wall cling from demon’s crest. can shoot fireball’s by pressing L/M/H during it. button strength determines trajectory.
don’t know what the command for Hell’s Elevator (the command jump into flight mode) is since i forgot it existed. it’s probably something simple like QCB +L/M/H on the ground
QCF +2 ATK is his beam(?) super, Dark Fire. it’s in like every video that has Firebrand. it otgs and you can mash for more damage.
QCB +2 ATK is his Devil Trigger, Luminous Body. it makes him faster and some other crap.
don’t know what the level 3 is. find out for yourselves. i heard it was DP +2 ATKS or something.
so yeah, hope this helps someone figure out somethin cool. oh he also has j.2H which is his divekick and his j.H hits 2 times. he’s cool. hope someone figures out a way to actually do some damage with that little troll.
I really cannot believe Firebrand is flying so low under the radar…
I wish that he didn’t jump off of the wall to shoot fireballs. I’d love to just hang out and throw stuff at them.
How does Demon Missile L act on block? Does it still bounce off?
I’m really irritated that his air dashes are commands - why?! Are they cancelable into specials/normals? It seems like a rather huge limitation.
Bon Voyage is not a command throw; this is a misconception that is being spread. It is blockable. It’s just an attack with an animation that seems throw-like.
Hmm, who plans on doing Firebrand’s character thread? If I had more time, I would volunteer myself…
Isn’t that this thread?
Actually, it gives him an advantage over other characters. Normals can be cancelled into specials on hit, on block and on whiff as well. This is, potentially, very big - it leads to great OS throw options. You see a lot of She-hulk players go for jump H all the time, since they can easily confirm it into a combo, or they can grab (break) with it. But if it whiffs, She-hulk has no options. Firebrand easily solves this, simply by cancelling into a dash. So, you can use the command dash to be safe, or apply more pressure. If you hit with the H, you can combo off it if you use the command dash: Maximillian showed off some command dash stuff in the corner, confirming that you can combo after a command dash. Of course it’s all theory, but why shouldn’t j. H -> c. dash down -> ground series combo? Considering how combo crazy this game is, it doesn’t seem that far off.
So it’ll give us more safety on whiff in the air and it’ll open up extra combo possibilities.
Anyway, it only adds an extra motion, so it doesn’t really bother me.
The person who made this thread is banned and uses another account now. So, upon release we’ll need a new one.
Part of a character thread means assuming the responsibility for updating the main post with information as it is discovered, and organizing information for people looking to learn the character from scratch.
I don’t expect everyone to be as thorough as I am with Dormammu, but the spirit of the thread remains the same.
Oh, very true! I had not considered that aspect. Firebrand looks to be one of the safest characters in the game. Very annoying!
Still, I wonder if Firebrand can cancel those dashes into attacks; maybe we’re not expected to though. It will definitely take some time to get used to.
I really like your Dormammu thread, so if you made the Firebrand thread, it’d turn out swell.
Karst, your Dormammu thread is too godlike anyway. I’d work on it, but I’m not even sure if I’m gonna main Firebrand, so maybe it’s best left to someone else.
