This is some GOOD shit. I gotta show my girlfriend this.
Shidosha is a fucking beast. I forgot to send you a friend request on Live for some of that Virtua Fighter action, but I’m making a list of people I need to add so lemme add you to that, cool?
Speaking of Virtua Fighter, you gonna be at Wabapalooza, Iceman?
I would have remembered if I fought against you; the point is I never got the chance to face you in rotation because I was eliminated so quickly. Like I said, mainly Chris and B.J. were the ones I remember. I never had a streak.
I don’t have a problem saying you beat me if I had fought you, I don’t care. Actually, I’m certain you would have if we had fought. But that wasn’t my point.
I came there to get better.
That’s correct.
But realize the first time I rendezvoused in the room you weren’t there so I didn’t know your face. I also did not know you were going to be down in Coos’s room. So I may have looked at you once or twice but I did not know you were Cool Breeze. I did not really “meet” you until after I returned to sleep.
No-one knew who I was? No shit, but I don’t see how that’s relevant.
No thanks.
After I realized simply saying I wanted to take the sticks was not working, I started actually tried to get up and just take them. But since I was literally smooshed between several people, the others almost always beat me to the punch. Hell, I could barely reach my laptop to record, I had to request Tactical Panda to do it for me since I couldn’t reach.
But I understand.
Because you were in the room, someone I didn’t know, recognize, I should have literally scrambled for the sticks and a chance to play you. I should have kicked all those other guys waiting to play out of my way just to have the honor of playing you. :china:
You’re kidding me; there are a huge number of people waiting to play. I can barely move. Talking doesn’t really work. I wanted the sticks, but I knew others wanted to play too.
Quit being an cad and insulting me because I didn’t hit people for a chance to get the sticks. I know I wasn’t the only one who didn’t get to play as much as they liked. Which is exactly why people started leaving earlier than expected.
Of course that’s not your point, your point is really to attempt to try and insult me to improve the validity of your argument. I’m not bothered, but since I’m not throwing shit your way and still have no ill-will against you I’d appreciate less of it.
I compare fighters like that to more general ones? Not in the way you think. The games I truly take seriously at this point are Marvel, VF, and perhaps GGXX. The rest I like to delve and learn but I know (various reasons) why I will probably not take them to a competitive level. Well, I would say EX3 but no-one plays that.
I have never been part of the Soul Calibur community.
No I don’t.
I can play the “games everyone plays just fine”. In fact, its pretty obvious most games that “everyone plays” have a “low learning curve”.
Cool Breeze, almost nothing in that block text matters, because for it to be valid you have to have known me well or be into my psyche.
I give all a games a equal chance. Even if I hate the art, even if the music sucks. So on. I don’t dislike things just to dislike them.
But, you know, perhaps you’re right. I want to hate this game for no apparent reason, because gosh, you know how much I love playing games by myself or games no-one else plays.
I play games that are fun to me or interest me, period.
It wasn’t an argument, actually. And neither is yours.
I admit I’m not a sheep like everyone else, but I don’t diss games just “because I don’t like them”. I don’t care for SFIII but I respect it. I no longer like ST but I respect it.
I actually find CvS2 to have a ton of bullshit and not as fun on the competitive level. It is special to me solely because the basics of it were to taught to me by someone special and it was my first competitive fighter. So it will always stay with me, even though I don’t really play it anymore.
Not really.
I would go as to far as to say if you can make it in Marvel, you can make it anywhere.
I’m sorry, that I had the nerve to diss the omnipresent, magnificent, god-like SF4, but I have valid reasons for doing so. Its not as if I want to hate the game.
When did I make that comparison?
In anycase, those games would get compared for one simple reason - they are 3-D fighters. Bullshit glitches? I think of those in plenty of other games played by serious fans as well.
How is your statement about picking the best character any relevant? Sounds just like tier-whoring in any other game to me.
BTW, we need more Sagat players in SF4. There’s not enough of them.
Anyone who knows basic SF is good at SF4. Unless you’re a noob or don’t know fighting game mechanics, its impossible to not be good or better at that game.
But you believe its so deep and difficult so I’ll just say I honestly took the time to play the game and know I can play it (like I said before) and that I always take time to spend with games before I talk about them. I think that’s only fair.
nah i didnt enter vf. i really havent touched it much since playing tran way back in the t4 days. but i do love it. once u get into the depth of it, the game is too fun.
What’s odd is that it’s more expensive for the Playstation 3 than the 360 despite the 360 version being the competitive standard and the only one of the two with online play.
also, has the EX series had a decent scene anywhere? i mean, i think there are plenty of good fighting games that unfortunately have no real US scene, but if a game has not had a good scene ANYWHERE, there’s usually a reason why that involves the integrity of the game. I’m asking this question out of pure curiosity, because I really don’t know.
on a side note, if anyone wants to come give me a ride to where ever people are gaming today/game at my place, that would be awesome. i don’t have very much money, and my car is acting pretty weird right now. Jason, if you are reading this, my car is why I couldn’t meet you at East Point yesterday. Sorry I failed, dood…
Ok Tech Romancer, skill does not depend on which game you like to play…so why even continue saying the same shit about SF4…it’s simple really, if you don’t like you don’t play, doesn’t mean the people who play it are any less skilled than someone who plays EX or VF or marvel or whatever…then more skilled player will always win in whatever match in whatever game or sport.
All games will have their top tier characters and shit that is too good too, I doubt EX will be blameless in this matter as well. Yes Sagat Ryu is really fucking retarded in SF4, it’s top 5 in MvC2, Chun and Yun in 3S, Gouki and Ibuki in 2I, Liesolette and Kamui in AHF, who is it in EX3??? It doesn’t have to be stated every 5 seconds.
Are you in GA anyway? Anyhow I have always been a fan of the EX series and some other EMS members as well, we played it back then and I really never understood why people did not play it outside of us. So if you are in GA are you playing it here, or is this online.
Anyway drama is non-productive so why bother let’s get on this shit MvC2, EX3, whatever and make some shit happen.
No the game is actually really GOOD (my preference would be for EX + alpha or EX3 I suppose, but I did not play EX2 that much so don’t quote me on that. I remember Sagat and Blanka being really good in EX2. It just unfortunately came out amongst the time of a lot of other great games which were hand drawn 2D that drew 2D gamers to it. I think you would be pleasantly surprised if you gave it a try though.
I don’t think I ever actually insulted anyone who played it, nor am I actually persuading anyone to not play. My comments on it this time, were to get a laugh more than anything; you guys already know how I feel about it.
Its like Kairi, Dark Ryu are the best, then top tiers are like shadowgeist, Garuda (because of his critical parade with qcfx2+K), vulcano Rosso, etc. then everyone else.
I agree, but I will say is that I really am partial to SFEX’s tiers because they are so close to together. Everyone has stuff to abuse and work with; all characters seem viable in that game so one does not have worry about tier whoring. For example, look at Pokchop’s team of Ryu/Ken; both are mid-tiers, not too special but they work wonderfully because of the team system.
I think that deserves some respect.
I am sorry to say it is not online.
I recall Cool Breeze telling me how you guys used to play it and how Pokchop was generally the best at it, but why did you guys stop playing it?
About it being played outside the US, the Japanese seemed to appreciate it a bit (although not as much as the other stuff out at the time), they held some A-cho tournaments for it and the like (). In fact, I would say they played it more then we did. This is mainly SFEX2 I’m referring to though, I don’t think EX3 did as well because the PAL port sucked (we actually got the fixed version) and it was PS2 exclusive, as opposed to being an arcade port.
Yes, I still play/practice EX. Just haven’t recorded matches as of late.
I return after the summer to attend college in GA again; and I will definitely get some games in with you all.
ok wow this thread is funny already…this is no offense to either lobelia or branh. if you two…for real get at each other in a fighting game…any fighting game. i want sidebets and i got money on branh! who wants in i got $5 on branh. no offense to lobelia but he has been on the scene longer and he is trash. he should be WAY better then what he is NOW. he knows so basics tho and some knowledge from being around for so long. thats why i would give that fight to him. seeing how your still new to this and you play fighting games for fun and thats what i read on the forums. so im not saying your trash or anything remember that.all im saying is in a fight for pride or money he would take it unless you stepped it up and its funny cause it wont take much trust me. so yall fight it out.

Tech has a post adolescence rebellious attitude. Everyone loves SFIV so he has to hate it. He doesn’t know why he hates it. He just does, because it’s mainstream. He doesn’t really have a reason. Ask him to debate you on it, and I’m sure he’ll go into endless digressions on why other games are better, not why SFIV sucks. See the problem with Tech is that it’s not a matter of preference. It’s a matter of faux rebellion under the guise of heightened intellectualism. In this case, he takes a position of a high fighting IQ.
Most of the idiotic drivel he espouses can be easily debunked. Newbies like SFIV? RIGGGHHT. I would think Justin Wong,. Gootecks, EdMa, Combofiend, Smooth Viper, Sanford Kelly, L. I. Joe are all a bunch of newbies. How could they not be, they are only established top players in multiple games, who could rape Tech free in any given game. Oh and here is a bonus, Sanford and Justin are both pretty beastly in SFEX3. But they also play SFIV. I don't here them talking about how scrub friendly the game is every other second. I just see them trying to get better.
I don’t blame Tech, he’s a youngster, where it’s pretty cool to not like what everyone else does. In his mind, he can’t accept the fact that people love SFIV and hate SFEX3. No, you like SFIV because you are stupid, and he loves SFEX3 because he’s smart. He’s not advocating his game, he’s trying to lead the blind into the light.
Also Tech pretty much implies that he’d be a beast in SFIV if he actually cared about the game. He just doesn’t bother because the game is dumb. But a glimpse of his youtube video where him and his friend simply jump every other 5 seconds leads me to believe otherwise. Not only is his fighting game aptitude not at the level he’s lead himself believe But his knowledge of Street Fighter and what and what not to do is actually pretty limited as well.
and if I’m being a little harsh it’s because in your argument with Iceman, my name was mentioned quite a few times unfavorably. Of course he’s erects his diplomatic check system by saying “no slight on you branh”. This only what people say when they fire a gun at someone and don’t expect anyone to fire back. Kind of a cowardly way of putting down someone, but not really wanting to deal with the implications of doing so.
I know we get into this world of Street Fighter, and we believe that people are jokes or punching bags because of their skills at any particular game. Tech thinks I suck at fighting games, so I was an easy scrape goat. Knowing that he takes the liberty to mention my name in his argument to make me out some punching bag. Well Tech, I have nearly 10 years over you. And while I may suck at Street Fighter or any fighting game. I’m still no idiot, and I read beyond the bullshit. You’re trying to be smart, but I’m smarter than you kid.
So in closing, take your psuedo intellectual, self-gratifying, pompous and self-serving fighting game analysis, and keep it to yourself. Arguments littered with logical fallacies like strawmen, does nothing to present yourself as this fighting game guru you’re trying to present yourself as. So take it somewhere else, no one’s interested.
