I appreciate the offer for the ride, but I’m not unwilling to make the trip down there myself.
I just need to know the address and when people will be there.
Is East Point a store? An arcade? Or is it just a general area?
East Point is the Location of quite possibly Ga’s 1st or 2nd best talent in a variety of games, these individuals play practically any and everything, though they don’t play every single game at every single gathering, the main games would consist of what the community would like to play, right now SF4 / SC4 / MvC2 are the games of choice, occasional KOF/SF3rd Strike/ money matches in a ton other games like … what ever your confident in lol.
Ga is the home to some of if not the best in 3D gaming so if you play those your in good hands but they also pick up very well on other things like Melty blood etc.
very friendly people, shit talkers but usually never in a disrespectful manor, highly respected, tried tested and proven.
Pay close attention to the Ga thread because gatherings are going down like every week now, hit up the Atlantic South Divisions Address book to jot down our contact info, call, email, and post in this very thread to make yourself known and throw your name into the hat for gatherings, upcoming tournaments & travel etc-etc. we look forward to seeing you newcomers sooner or later.
An apartment Filled with Gamers how about that:rolleyes:
That was why I offered. I figured you seeing and going there for the first time would clear up a lot of things.
It’s just someone’s apartment where people have been going to for gatherings for ages. I don’t mind carpooling, because it’s a 45-ish minute drive for me already (depending on downtown traffic).
::EDIT::
Re-reading makes me realize that no one actually has said what EP is exactly, in terms of it being a house, arcade, or something else . I bet the random person who comes in here must start thinking EP is some huge ass arcade with every single competitive game known to man . (Although that’d be a dream come true, anyway :bgrin:)
I don’t know how many times I will have to say this before it sinks in.
I play Virtua Fighter. I am extremely devoted to Virtua Fighter and practice almost every day, often for hours at a time in training mode alone. The reason I do not attend gatherings is because no one else has shown an interest in Virtua Fighter for more than two seconds, kind of like how I am with every other game. Virtua Fighter, in case you didn’t know, is some pretty heavy shit, and sometimes I need a diversion so I don’t get overwhelmed. I’m high-strung like that.
You’re right. I’m not a part of the scene, but that’s largely because I don’t like what Atlanta plays(not Virtua Fighter). I don’t have anything against any of you and I hope you represent and whoop ass at tournaments even though I’m pretty sure by now that I’m universally disliked.
I remember going to GamerXperience a while back. It actually was a nice little spot, and the guy running it seemed enthusiastic about trying to build up a competitive scene when I talked to him. Now, a lot of the people up there seemed pretty casual. There was a lot of talking and bragging, but when it came time to play, I only got a few people to play me in 3s, HNK, and Marvel, and the few who did play didn’t stick around for very long. I didn’t mind that, cuz I think a lot of the people who were up there then and whoever might be going there now just need a little nudge into the scene. More competition and variety helps everybody out.
Shadowace when you go check it out post back up what you think about the place. If you like what see, maybe you could try and get something going up there and convince some of the regulars to take it a little more seriosuly, cuz I still think there’s a some potential for another spot in a different area and some more players who might start to come up from and help boost the scene.
That’s what I was looking for.
That was the impression I got. XD
Tim, sir, I would hate to do it again, but I must.
Wii. I can’t even face my friend right now.
'nuff said.

Hey, I was wondering, what is everyone doing this (or next) friday?
Also, thanks for the kind words, Iceman. I appreciate it. :lovin:
I am trying to head to EP this Friday since Kajoq will be in town and Jason is finished with school.
That might translate into a Saturday though, depending on what is more convenient across the board, so I’m not sure.
the new hotness for the IC5 promo

Jason’s back. glad to hear it. cant wait to throw down with you in SFIV.
Eddie, let me know when your trying to head over to EP (fri or sat) so I can meet you up there. Try to bring Jason with you. Havent seen Jason since the last dying breaths of CVS2.
Depends on when you try to get them kev. I’m a season ticket holder, but me and the wife goto EVERY game at home so I can’t sell you my tix.:wonder:
I mean they have SF4 and MVC2 there…this must mean something…ill go tomorrow and friday(suppose to be the busy) to see whats good…you just never know…we shouldnt outcast them because we are better…new blood should always be wecome…and ill talk to smithspot personally…
I’m sorry, but…Blue Blaze?
I wanted to have a get together at my crib on sat, but it seems like everyone has plans. I was thinking about getting a 360 also, but we’ll see about that. I got deadlyraveneo’s ex2 stick for 360, so I could play sf4 on 360, but not well. I would prolly want a TE stick for a 360 if I got a 360.
It’s ok Tim, I’ll be sure to let Clint and Big Boi know you play smash. You will never hear the end of it:lol:
I don’t want to discourage you or shadow ace from doing what you guys feel. It’s true you were not competitive til recently. And it’s is true everyone started out as casual.
That being said, casual players are not converted to want to be hardcore players by sending people on a really high level to wipe the floor with them. It’s overall discouraging.
I have found that new players are drawn in by coming up with newer players or translate from high level from one game to another like tim is doing from smash to sf4.
In this case since your a newer player you’ll be a better ambassador.
But odds are that if there are 30 players there playing maybe only one or two will continue in the fashion you want them to, if your lucky. Odds are the scrubs you beat will give up and the scrubs that scrub you out will feel they are superior to you so they have no need to listen about higher level play when they are already there over you. A bit grandiose yes, but that’s what casual players usually are over fighting games.
To be apart of this community, you have to accept the process to getting better and have to have to drive to see it through. Just living in ATL, near ATL, doesn’t make you apart of the ATL competitive scene. Just because you go to a bowling ally because you think it’s fun to go and bowl a 70 with the friends, doesn’t make you apart of the competitive bowling scene. The truth is most these guys if any will not accept what it takes. Being apart of the scene is not just a given from location. I would say a good number of people who post on this board are not really an active part of the scene. You earn your membership by being active.
I understand the concept of reaching out and it’s cool that your doing that. If that’s your reason to go than that’s a good idea. But remember you came into this thread, looking for the comp, and you came to the tourney with the idea of trying your hardest to see where you stand. That’s how an addition to the community is really found. People who have the drive to practice, deal with the beat downs, go to the tourneys, travel in state AND out of state to get better usually look for us and stick with us. Those who are evangelized might stay but they probably won’t, that’s really the point Iceman was making.
Eddie, if you go to EP Friday I want to ride with you(if possible).
Larry, if you hold a gathering Saturday I want in!
i can mod yours to play 360 or mod that ex2 with better parts and ill be ok to come through to your spot if im welcomed? dont want to impose
hey how come this hispanic gets left out all the time of the trips?:lol:an im just right around the corner for yall? am i hated??oh whatever…jason so you still coming sat?

eddie what is sleepy’s number?
please one of you two give it to me.
wantonx im coming now to give you your guide now. im gonna call you
another note…i just got married. so that ball and chain is offical.
I went to this place just to watch a bunch of guys play Smash Bros & Halo 3… Complete waist of time.
about east point. My thing is last time i went there were only two setup’s and 20+ people. Hell i have 3 setups in my gameroom @ home. It was hella fun chillin with the gang, but more setups would be great.
On a side note I would start doing gatherings at my place again. My house has plenty of space & my Game room is pretty big. I could only do it on fridays though. I haven’t been doing it lately because… well i don’t know why i stopped doing them. Lol! But if there is enough common interest i would start those up again.
