Sentinel is super nerfed in MVC3. His fly has gotten worse, he has horrible pressure, he doesn’t have a high/low game either. He’s a better punishment character here. His zoning isn’t even as good as it was in MVC2. His lazers are slower, and it’s harder to do unfly lazers. as far as his drones are concerned, they are easier to see, but stilll good as an assist. But he can be punished hard for spaming them. He’s also WAY slower, with super slow normals. Not hard to see his normals, thanks God they have super armor on them. But that doesn’t help him, because certain moves are multihit, and some just plain out go through armor.
Sentinel is strong, does tons of damage, but he was strong and did tons of damage in MVC2, AND he has great offense, great defense, a very good lock down game, and an excelent keep away game. With a nerfed flight mode, his pressure game is lacking. This Sentinel sucks compared to the old one. Sentinel only saving grace is damage and X-factor. But once people smarten up and stop just running into j.S, then he really lose a lot. It’s going to take a lot to make Sentinel work at high levels because it’s easier to get in on him, and he has nothing up close. Maybe hyper armor on his st.S, but that move recovery is bad, so it’s something he shouldn’t make a habit of whiffing. Anti-Sent strats will more than likely be in full force in a month, if not sooner. Only decent Sentinels who has spent real time learning him will remain.

I still think this game is ass and it’s by far one of the most broken games I’ve ever played with a community, but i feel like I should say something to clear things up. A lot of things are bad, but have been in VS. games and aren’t anything new. Something seems gay? Well, it either is gay, or you’re not doing the right thing to fight it. So, please don’t take this as an attack; I’m merely trying to express a point that some things are gonna get blown up if you know what you’re doing
That’s part of how these games work. Stuff can stay on the screen and restrict you from attacking your opponent. If you choose to attack, you might get hit for attacking. I don’t even need a VS game. How about Aegis reflector? Sure, that’s nowhere near as broken, but if you’re running into stuff AFTER you hit your opponent, you’re playing the game wrong. The fact that your opponent was able to either call that assist or do the specific move that shuts down a part of the screen or the area in front of your opponent just means he gets that benefit until the animation is completely over. Assists get owned in one combo in this game. Just be patient and either land a hit on the assist or just take the 2 seconds-wasted and get in smarter. Marvel 2 had people running into stuff AFTER they hit their opponents PLENTY of times. It’s just part of the game engine.
Almost same thing as #1…So they power-up Hsien-ko then tag her out for her godlike assist? Snap that bitch out! Don’t let her power-up and get a tag-in for free! Juggernaut got to power-up and retain it in MvC2, but it had a huge risk because trying to get Juggs out might’ve meant you took too much damage down the road anyway. They tag Hsien-ko out and you knew it was coming? Hit them with something that makes them not want to keep doing that over and over.
That’s the way Phoenix is. You have to snap her in early-game and kill her asap. If you play the game at a normal pace then let her come in with 5 meters and lvl 3 x-factor, you can’t touch her without really, really, really tricking her or catching her off some shit. Yeah, it’s gay that her character is so powerful, but when everbody is going 500000% combos, phoenix is going to die in one hit. It’s not like you’re going to snap her in and your opponent tags in every time to get her back out. If that’s what they’re doing, you should be winning already. Two half-assed combos on a majority of the cast is going to mean a character is gonna get bodied. Basically, don’t let Phoenix fight you with x-factor and 5 levels already stocked. That’s kind of her gameplan
Yeah, it’s gay. I can’t really defend this except to tell you that sure, the dog can do all that…but everybody in the cast can kill her in one hit (and vice versa, basically)…so…deal with some characters having ridiculous tools. The entire game is ridiculous. Some stuff just seems more ridiculous because it’s still new.
Uh, it’s a lot better than when you COULDN’T even reduce chip damage with push block at all. It reduces a good bit, and that’s all you can hope for. Stuff chipping too much is kind of a problem (especially in x-factor), but that’s the way VS games work. You’re going to be stuck in situation where you’re going to take so much chip it’s unfair. At least x-factor negates chip completely…even though it increases chip to ungodly amounts
Just spend more time with the game. People don’t know how to move aruond the best yet and therefore, put themselves in situations where they’ll land the best hits. Of course it seems mashy (and don’t get me wrong…IT IS)…but VS games are all about fast -paced gameplay with moves that seem to be godlike in certain situations. What’d you guys expect? A new SF with flashier combos? No, this shit is all about whoring the fuck out of ridiculous moves on a ridiculous engine.
X-factor is broken. 'Nuff said.

I hope this helps at all? I’m a little bored, so that’s why I ended up taking the time to respond, but a lot of the things I see people complain about here aren’t even the real problems. Just stuff they don’t know how to deal with, you know?
3.7…jesus…I hope this does not effect other grants and scholarship’s…a 3.7??? really…come on son…whats next? organic chemistry is a core class required for all major’s?
hopefully I graduate june of next year though…I just heard they where going to raise school taxes and fee’s next year but this is good information…
I mean you would still be ok with 3.0 though its just you have to fight for book money and other expenses now
