Wesker bro, Yea Phoenix is 10-0 against more then half the cast BUT…
Wesker has high health
High damage output
Unblockable assist setups
Teleport 2nd best
Great range on all his attacks
Not to mention you can’t even see most of his attacks when he’s in his all black outfits on certain stages and aside from the outfit, you can’t see most of his attacks thanks to the assists
All most any of his high damage moves (Launches etc) are safe (Also remember not to advance guard everything he does people,there is a window small to punish).
And he is the most played character (Despite everyone crying about Sentinel)
I was born in 1979, that means I’m old enough to remember most of the 80s. It is shameful I have never seen the Transformers Cartoon movie up until yesterday. It’s not like I didn’t want to see it, it just my mother would never take me to the movies to see something like Transformers. But I did see the opening day of Color Purple when it came out. I almost feel I’m not a 80s child because it took me this long to watch the movie. It rocked though anyway. And the theme song gets me pumped up:

I think it might be a stretch to just name wesker best character at the moment. He’s good, but there are many that compete with him.
Who cares who can “Compete”, I mean, everyone is suppose to be able to compete but lets be real… not everyone can.
Wesker has all the attributes for the title of “Best” in the game, he is the best Capcom Character in this game for sure.
I’ve labeled him the best because of all his High Level Positives and his not so many negatives, yes we can say Hulk has the very same potential or Trish, or T.Bonne (Who by the way has some very VERY High Damaging combos) but me** LordIceman** am ready to give him the title of Current “Best”.
Across the board Wesker has everything you could/should/would want in a character, Mix up ability,great assist, good on offense, good on defense, rushdown,runaway, high life, high damage out put…
you cannot say that for every character in the game and when you begin to categorize characters in this game, you then have to compare them to each other, there positives and negatives, Wesker’s all around game stands out, his mechanics make him already top#3 in the game so…
once again I label him the “Best”
Also keep in mind people, Sentinel was labeled “Best” because he was the most played, yet I have seen Wesker played MORE then him and has been in way more top#10 tournament placements then any/every other character INCLUDING Magneto!!
I dunno, I agree with Iceman. I can’t think of any huge, gaping flaws to Wesker, as opposed to, say, Gouki, who dies in about half a combo, or Hulk, who moves with all the urgency of iced molasses.
I would also have to say that Wesker is the best reliable character in the game. He has the the attributes Iceman pointed out and isnt a liability like Phoenix(and now Sentinel with no health). He can take a beating and dish it back twice as hard. As an anchor he’s just as powerful at wiping entire teams in an instant, and even if he gets hit he can get back up and finish them off unlike Sent or Phoenix.
If you were to compare him to magneto, he loses on everything but assist and life. I think magneto outright beats wesker on mixup, offense, rushdown and runaway. Wesker might have better defense, but I’m not sure. I just think that the topic is extremely debatable.
Wesker can run away from Magneto and vica verca.
Wesker’s Teleport is what would break that one on one match up down to a science, as well as if Magneto is silly enough to get stuck blocking the bee bee gun.

Maybe this is just my Mortal Kombat mindset talking, but when in doubt, I’d give the nod to the guy who can teleport.
Imo, its hard to say that mags has better mixup potential than wesker. He’s got command grabs, super super amibiguous mixups off an otg gunshot midscreen (which many people don’t do), not to mention general throw resets that I don’t think have been explored too much, and of course teleports.
His gunshot may not be as good as mags beam but you have to remember that after mags beam he isn’t at much of an advantage, while wesker certainly has mixup potential after a blocked gunshot (and you can even combo off it)
Thats not to say mags isn’t amazing himself. You could argue that he is the best point character in the game (best mobility, good keepaway, resets without assists, lv3 w/out assists.
But I still think wesker has the better overall team value
Another big thing to consider is that magneto can start the dhc glitch. And I am much more afraid of magneto all over me than wesker.

Wesker can start the DHC glitch as well with L or M command throw.
Also Magneto can’t finish the DHC glitch and Wesker can with counter super.
Starting the glitch is more important… there are far more people who can finish than start. Magneto can start it in a much better way than a command throw.
That’s debatable because Magneto’s starter (Hyper Grav) can only be used after you’ve gained the hit where Wesker’s starter gives you the combo.
I would have to agree that Magneto’s would be more useful because he would set up more pre-DHC damage than Wesker, but also the basis of the argument was Wesker’s completeness as a character; so this just shows again that he has nearly every option available to him and while they might not be as potent as another characters version he still has it and more.
