GA Thread: Rise of the Fallen has begun!

Of course i don’t read all this shit, I got school to bore me to death.

More like TvC .5, but yeah, I basically am.

old school [players] to new school fools!!

bwahahahahaa!!

keep posting guys, it makes work go by faster!

Exactly my original point, so why the fuck are you and others so anxious to respond to posts that your not taking the time to carefully read, just to jibber jabber back and forth about this game possibly being solid down the line when that wasn’t the original topic/statement.
It was a couple peoples distaste, there review currently on the game based upon there own gameplay and the gameplay of guys like Marn&Wong who have been playing the game for months now!!
The comparison to it’s father game MvC2 and the flaws this game has ALREADY that could prevent it from being a highly competitive game after a year has passed!!!

This is Ga, the state that don’t play or respect shit until they see top names or good players playing them, Marty tried too up Alpha for a year in a half, same with Blaz… DEAD

Augusta tried to up Melty Blood back in 2006 CvS2 as well… DEAD

Impact Players & E.M.S Crew tried too up CvS2, Garou,KoF,3rd Strike…DEAD

East Point Crew tried to up Tekken,MvC2,Gears of War 2… DEAD

All these games,CvS2 suddenly gaining attention I wonder why??
3rd Strike after months of begging people to come to tournaments and play,no shows now people PM me,Magnicious,Pokchop mad cause the tournament isn’t played or can’t finish.
Melty Blood suddenly has attention here, oh cause Team Spooky Says they support the game at N.E.C.
MvC2 cats coming out the wood work, issuing money matches, talking about peoples player skill from 4 years ago cause they think they are solid now and they feel they been training so they will be great in MvC3.

A shit ton of followers and pretending leaders, I can count on half of 2 hands how many people in this state ACTUALLY break down games.
Meaning finding little nitches in them broken or non, custom combos, something innovative, new. ground breaking. Yet you got places like NY who do it in every game, remember Sagat in SSF4 and the difference between SF4, how about Abel, look at what florida did for MvC2,G.Gear!!

People who only play games cause another top name in there city or state plays it or cause there is a group somewhere who does, STRAIGHT WHACK!!
Yet Wong who never trains in KoF can come to Final Round every year and win any version of SNK games with no practice what so ever, then the community cries “See I could have beaten him but I stopped playing that game” why bro “Cause nobody here plays it”

Wake the hell up

maxxmana tried to spam for online matches in battle fantasia… DEAD!

Sorry, I just had to do it.

Oh lord, yet another argument?

this is so cool
Marvel 3

I know this tournament happened last November, but I found these vids pretty interesting & entertaining to watch

Yep I remember that, that’s when jabroni’s didn’t know the power that is…

BRYAN FURY!!!

I said Dorm as in Dormamu, not Doom. Wasn’t planning on using him, although I used him at ATL fight club. Anyway, I still don’t see a problem with the match. Sure you can’t just jump over the projectiles, but that’s not really that big of a deal. What is the point of zoning if you can get around it with a simple answere like jumping over it? Zoning characters would have no purpose if you can just easily get beyond their projectiles. Then what is a character like Arthur left with? nothing, because he doesn’t have the offensive tools to be in your face like that. Now in terms of Sentinel, umm, I’m sure there are ways around the hyperforce spam. Taking experience from MVC2, the Sent players basically confirmed every hyperforce with a rocket punch. So of course it combos and you can’t just jump out of it. it was the same thing in part 2, but you could pushblock and super jump. But even at this point, Sent recovers and he could punish your advance. Zoning seems to have the same amount of effective in MVC3 as it did in MVC2. MVC2 really spent much of it’s competitive life as a zoning game with characters like Sentinel, Cable, Blackheart, and Doom being viable up until 2005 (when we got modern Marvel). MSP players probably aren’t use to respecting a zoning game, because they had so many ways (and easy ways at that) around zoning. They could be zoned, but not without a lot of effort. Now you can’t just get in for free, and you may need to think to get in now. Just because you can’t use MVC2 tactics to break a solid wall of projectiles, doesn’t mean way don’t exist. Marn demolished nerdjosh in nearly every game. So there are clearly ways to get in.

ugh…

Ok.

All you need to have a Marvel Vs Capcom game…is characters from marvel… and characters from Capcom…and… fighting.

That sounds a little john madden-ish but whatever. The point is Capcom doesn’t care how a game is suppose to play or have the same button layout as the last one in the series. The franchise at this point is about getting people to buy their game from day one, not about stating prophetically that “this game shall play like the last”

Of course Marvel 2 has more depth than Marvel 3 by default. Marvel 2 is a engine forged out of absolute choas. With it’s many interfering system directions, it’s arbitrary system dissions, it was a game without a very well constructed idea of what it was suppose to be. You don’t pump out a game with that size of a roster and spend the time you should on the system.

Out of that choas came Roms, unblockable set ups, snap back into assist kills, unfly, all many other things that have added new breath to MVC2 time and time again. Now when making a new game how do you recreate all that madness that was largely products of what is to this day an abortion of video game design and programming? You don’t. Thats like trying to catch a unicorn twice. Your lucky to catch a mythological creature once in your life. So they do what they always do, try and make system exceptions and work things into the game design. That’s why in MVC3 magneto can dash cancel his fierce hitsso that he can simulate a mini-rom or why sentinel can fly and than just pound on you to simulate combos that were in the last game that utilized unfly.

You can’t just program things like unfly in a game without a mountain of effort because in programming just the most basic things, systems, sub-routines and how they call upon one another are so interlinked that changing usually does have a drastically effect on all the others. As far as the assist issue goes, it’s true your freedom is lower in using your assist in this game because of the cool down and the crazy damage they take, which is on average more than MVC2 assist took, if they get caught so you really have to think about pressing that assist button before you do it. This takes away from the freedom that MVC2 had.

So of course MVC3 is less in depth than MVC2 out the jump. I feel that charactes feel pretty generic in the game myself but that’s because right now everyone is just doing magic series launch magic seres super. Combos and things will develop and straits will develop in time for the game, just as Max said they would , it’s just not going to be on the depth level of MVC2.

MVC1 to MVC2 was not a gradual evolution at all. MVC2 is it’s own monster. With each game iteration things always change and some things always stay the same. MVC3 is just a new game it’s what it is, it’s not Marvel 2 because you have Marvel 2 for that, and NO game ever made in the history of man again will ever simulate that.

As for the evolution and playability and longevity of the games on the GA scene that has almost nothing to do with the games and EVERYTHING to do with GA players , who are in general are lazy, apathetic to their current level of skill and have no drive to get better, whiners, and overall have an limited and un-evolving knowledge of almost every game they touch.

MVC3 is a VS game. It’s overall not a bad game either. It is not great, but it’s not absolutely horrid. the lack of a fast tri-dash is pretty gimped. Some things are really over powered right now. Damage is insane and chip damage and projectiles in general are super powerful from the amount of chip they do , which is excessive as hell.

MVC3 is probably not going to be noob friendly though. People seem to think execution makes or breaks you from being a noob for some stupid reason. It doesn’t. Being a noob is not having any fucking clue what you are doing and wailing on buttons and hoping for shit to hit. MVC3, because of the stupid damage and strong effects of “efficent zoning” is an amazing unforgiving game. So noobing out in MVC3 against a player who is better at that game get you murdered pretty hard. Noobs tend to thrive in games that are way more forgiving to their overall uninformed and stupid actions.

Marvel 3 is your new VS game for better or worse. The one thing Marvel 3 will never be is “Mahvel” because that right belongs solely to MVC2. The depth comparsion between the two is very valid and anyone with a pulse and have played any fighting game to any competitive level knows that despite what is found out about the games, projectiles are going to be good, chip is too good, and sentinel will be stupid, so people need to stop jumping on Max because he made a simple observation.

But people also need to stop hating on others for liking or even having an interesting in a game because they loved Marvel 2 so much. As a fighting game community we do that shit way to much. I understand that it took 10 years of experimenting, practicing and countless hours of developing to get to where any good or great MVC2 player is. I understand why people would love Marvel more than any other game for the amount of dedication it takes to play that game. And the points raised against Marvel 3 about depth (vs MVC2) and things like gimped tri-dashes are all valid gripes. But lets not use that as a veil to justify hating the fact that people are interesting, and want to play Marvel 3. Just let them do it and we can all just play games and do what we do and save some space in this thread for the next stupid debate to come along.

this is actually kinda dope. BAOW-BAOW! I’M GROSS NOW BECAUSE OF IT~!

great post by jason-L btw.

lol, nominated JasonL’s post for an article. I know he’s addressing the GA scene, but it applies to almost everywhere right now.

Thank god for JasonL.

Ok, here is the thing. ATLien, we can sit down and show each other our dicks and talk about known people we’ve beaten in “real” games, but I don’t really give a fuck if you think I am good or not. To be honest with you, and this is not to be mean, I don’t even know you. I have never seen you in person and I am everywhere. I don’t know how to pronounce your name, and I don’t really care what games you played before today. To me you mean nothing. Absolutely nothing, and your opinion means less to me than that. Not because I don’t respect you, but because, and again, just being honest, you are from GA, GA has done nothing, ever, in anything except Tekken. If you think I am going to have anything but a passing glance about your opinion after playing a game once then you really think you are a bigshot or something.

Just to reiterate, ATLien, I don’t know how to pronounce your name, I don’t know what you look like, and I have never seen you anywhere despite the fact that I have gotten all over this state to play fighting games the past decade, and I do not care about your opinion only after a single day or two of playing, honestly, probably not even after a year. I would like all of this to change though. We should sit down and have a chat sometime. Maybe we can see eye to eye in person, Overall I just think you’re being to closed minded, especially since the game isn’t even released yet.

Iceman, thanks for the history lesson, but bottom line, you know what this was. Marketing. Get some Marvel characters, get some Capcom characters, make them fight, make some money. Oh, what do we call it? Well, we can’t call it MvC3 because it’s not a direct continuation gameplay wise. Yeah, but we could call it MvC3 to make more money since if people think it was a direct continuation they would be more prone to buy it due to nostalgia. Yeah, that is what we will do. MAKE SOME GODDAMN MONEY BY USING NOSTALGIA AND NAMES TO OUR ADVANTAGE.

Ice, I know you understand that. Anyway, I’m going to hit you up later tonight about your place for Final Round bro. What time is good to call?

Fudge CAPCOM

Im free all day sir weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

And I’m not taking a shot or anything Ice, but the reason why I’m getting seriously into Melty now is because I FINALLY have my own access to it & I want to bring it to people’s interest that like the game. I play Melty back in 2007, Act Cadenza at my friend’s house who I played 3s with since that was the game I was “addicted” to & thought it was a fun game, but I didn’t know how to get it from now & until then with the addition of him using it frequently. But now that he doesn’t use it & I’ve been meaning to get it from him since September 09’ but life happens. I won’t deny Spooky streams & stuff got me into it more but back in 2009 when I was watching 3s vids heavily still, I search up Melty Blood ones & just went on from there until I heard of Team Spooky from a friend in NJ streaming SFIV stuff. When I found out they played Melty, I felt like I found a hidden treasure & it convinced that people played it & I could possibly find those that have the same passion that I have for it. I’m doing what I can to get the ones that play Melty together as of right now but once I get my life situations straight, you better believe I’m traveling for Melty because I love it that much. Same goes for 3s, as of late since SFIV came out, I was always that guy talking about playing 3s or if anyone does & seeing if people played, I love that game to & would travel if there was people willing to help rideless me out or whatever travel arrangements & CvS2, always loved that series too, just didn’t get a stick for PS2 until late. My point is this, I play a game because I somewhat like it even if the Cons outweight the Pros & I’d travel for 3s, CvS2, & of course Melty until I get bored of whatever, but with me, that is rarely the case because when I like a game, I love it & will play it indefinitely & even look up YT footage for it once a week or as frequently as possible.

Naw

NAw

You one of dem folk, I See it… I SEE IT NOW

You gonna play it then after 3 weeks be like… But I’m playing alone… then i’m going to commence shooting you in the back of the head in Gears dooooooooooooooooooooon

Lmao

Fuck HDR! Why was that game made again???

Dormammuu is fucking GODLIKE!!! Making it rain, purifiing and chaotic burning bitches up!!!

I have to somewhat stop you right here. I know you probably won’t take what I say seriously. I don’t agree with Max and his criticism of MVC3. However Max is a really good player in our scene. And when I say good, he is a national level player. He was able to get top 8 in MVC2 back in FR in 2008. This was amongst good players like Flash Metroid, Demon Hyo, Justin Wong, Josh 360, etc. He’s insanely good at Marvel, and play it to a level that many others in GA don’t. So if you wonder who in GA has shown that they can do something than be good in Tekken and Soul Calibur, Max is a person who has. He was also really good at CVS2, and I know he can body all of these late blooming CVS2 players no problem.

I think his criticism of the game is petty, trivial, and just out right harsh. But he does admit he is biased as well. Him and Joe became the best in GA, and they were untouched for years (and are still probably untouchable). There wasn’t even a close third (except Pokchop, and they both bodied him free). And Max is a cool guy, and one of the more helpful people in the scene. Very approachable and pretty easy to talk to. Of cours he’s set in his ways, but he grinded CVS2 and MVC2 for years, so I guess he would be.

Remind me to buy you a beer the next time i see you.
