Is the instant recovery on em disrupter even too much for a teleporting character to get around? I’d bet Dante’s isn’t good enough maybe Wesker or Deadpool have a chance to get close relatively safely. Also how about grapple hook characters like Spiderman (Not sure if Amaterasu or Spencer fit this role)? Another off-beat thought to try is Hsien Ko’s projectile reflecting gong.
I played those three last night and to me it felt like Dante had the best teleport. o_O

Well, not really but against something as fast as disruptor it’s gonna get beaten flat.
i guess a teleport would work alright…unless he has something to counter that cough repulsor blast combofiend ftw
even still, if your teleport isn’t almost instant as well it will be very predictable and blocked…not sure, but im pretty sure even if you did teleport before an em disrupt, if he predicted it and saw it, he could just cancel to shockwave…back in the same situation ftl…and he could always just wait:lame:
I get what you’re saying ATLien, and clearly you have more vs. series exp. than me.
But that being said, with all your opinions on it so far, I still think that writing a game off before its even out is kinda lame (not saying that you are by the way). Sure, I think it entirely possible (and quite probable) that marvel 3 ends up being less deep than Marvel 2. But there’s still the possibility that it will be complex in its own ways.
I haven’t been playing competitively as long as a lot of you but I know enough to say that complexity does not always equal a better game. For example I like SF4, but I can also appreciate something like 3s or even Tekken. Games evolve (not always for the better of course) but just because a game has the sf or vs. name on it doesn’t mean its gonna be a rehash of the same game.
Ice, I respect what you do for the community and if the game sucks then the game sucks. All I’m saying is the fg community can’t definitively shit on it until we know for sure its ass.

Max, i can respect that you like to hear other people’s opinions on things. i’m the same way, honestly.
anyway, i agree that projectiles are somewhat of an issue in this game. the combination of making characters larger, stages a bit smaller, and taking away mobility from some characters makes projectiles and chip damage a bit strong. Not to mention, people like Magneto and Doom got huge buffs to some of their projectiles, making it even harder for some characters to do a lot about it. I don’t really see what someone like Ryu, or anyone else without an air dash or multiple jumps, is going to do about someone with really good projectiles. this is a bit of a stretch, but when i was playing against someone, i used Dormammu and shot my giant fire super against a Morrigan player. Granted, he used a Level 3, but he was able to go through my attack, and I got hit with her super. maybe some people have other attacks that can help them get through the barrage. and currently, after a little experimentation, it is hard to keep someone on the ground, so i think you may be right about the whole “jumping and living thing”. and, i also agree that the growth potential of this game is seemingly lower than MvC2 or even TvC(IMO), but again, the game HAS only been out for a short amount of time, so maybe people will end up finding out things to expand the gameplay. after all, MvC2 had 10+ years to get where it’s at now.
@Chnchilla: If Magneto and Sentinel are as strong as Max says then he may be right to write the game off. To summarize what he said 1) Magneto has a near faultless zoning game when paired with Sentinel 2) Sentinel can kill you anytime off a random hit. By the sound of it what would you gain by not playing Mag/Sent/?(Morrigan with meter gain assist?). So if you don’t want to write this game off we need to find a solid counter to this strategy and if it doesn’t exist the game is broken to the point were you have to play this team to win in tournament.

I definitely think people shouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. Providing difficult situations for us to find an answer to is definitely constructive though and needed.
I believe Dormammu will be a solid counter to Sent, haven’t seen enough Mags to determine what to do about him.

I find it odd that complaints about projectiles are coming from some one as sensible as Max. Someone who is an OG Marvel player and has lived through many evolutions of the game. I am personally not a great mvc2 player. But no one can deny that the first few YEARS of Marvel were heavily zoning and projectile based. Remember when Spiral/Cable were like the best characters in the game? I remember back when Perimeter Mall had an arcade and everyone though that Guile/Iron Man/Iceman were the cheapest team in the game. Honestly there are more than likely ways to get around a zoning game in this game. When a game is out for like less than 1 week (hell it’s not even OUT yet), of course people aren’t going to find ways around zoning. Zoning does have relevance in this game, and it probably is effective. so what, it doesn’t mean that every match now becomes some brainless projectile war. Capcom games have always been more about a mixture of playstyles instead of letting one dominate. That is the reason for the character diversity. I mean a lot of games like Aracana Heart or Melty Blood are cool and all, but they are clearly slanted towards one style of play. The reason those games don’t get anywhere because you have to pretty much conform to a style of play. That is why people like Capcom games, because you can always bring your individual style into a game.
