I’m more of an arcade type. I would only do house meets if they were like every [fill in the blank]day. Or every other [such]day. Then I’d be all for bringing consoles and a TV with me to contribute, etc. I live pretty much in either alpharetta or downtown. Since ATL’s so big, commuting to game is a bia.
Valdosta’s a bit far from ATL though… Still, it’ll be cool if that community got started since that’s where I’m from. The good days back when Matt and Matt worked at the Fun Factory and Dave ran it and me, louis, cinco de mayonese (chris) and Shirod beasted in it. We had X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, MVC: Clash of Super Heroes, MVC2, Third Strike, Alpha 2, Rival Schools and a shit of people and tournaments. Now the fun factory has been reduced to a broken down chucky cheese with DDR and nothing else of mentionable merit. Somehow the management tanked and got rid of all the fighting games and now it’s all ticket games.
Georgia Southern’s got a community (statesboro, ga) in that my sister’s a apart of since she goes to college there. I hear they’re having a low teir MvC2 tourney May 1. They had a MvC2 and a SC4 tourney in the previous months too. It’s about 3.5 hrs from Val & 3.5 hrs from Atl (if you don’t mind hitting a deer or two).
Yeah we know that since VSU is so close to Moody AFB and etc. that we can definitely drum up support and hype and get Valdosta crackin. It all just starts with a spark. Sucks I’m missing IC4 though. My Viper and Boxer are itching for a match.
You live in Alpharetta? I’m not far from you, I live in Sandy Springs. Perhaps we could get together for a few games sometime. What do you play? I’m more of an arcade gamer myself, so I know exactly where you’re coming from.
I’m broke as hell, which means I can’t make a point to go to Waba every week. I have no transportation either. Honestly, unless I want to start taking four-hour bus rides to travel ten miles, I’m shit out of luck as far as I can tell. It’s not like anyone here would give me a ride. Also, I get the distinct impression that I’m not exactly the most popular person in the state of Georgia, so I’d rather not go where I’m not wanted.
Perhaps, but I have this nasty habit of being really self-conscious. Unless I can tell that people are benefiting from my presence, I don’t like being present, if that makes any sense.
It’s not that I think anyone has a beef with me directly. I just think that my impatient, flighty habits really piss people off. I’m actually forever and a day from downtown. I live in Vinings, about forty minutes from Waba and twenty-five to thirty minutes from downtown. No car, no knowledge of public transportation routes, and I sure as fuck ain’t walking.
yea vinings is a bit away from duluth. I don’t even know anyone who lives out there. I’ve only met you once or twice but you haven’t seemed to bother or piss me off yet and I’m pretty vocal about that kind of stuff. As for the ride thing idk what to tell you. thats like an hour round trip from here
I don’t think people are upset by your flighty behavior. I’m sure it annoys people, but Street Fighting people really don’t give a shit about that. The only way to upset someone who plays Street Fighter or fighting games in general is to talk a lot of shit and never back it up. I’m guilty as charge on that count.
Yeah, my topography situation isn’t the best in the world. I’ve been fucking around with Street Fighter IV for the past couple of hours, trying to find a character I can use. So far, I like Honda, Blanka, and especially Gouken.
I don’t like talking shit unless I’m just messing around with my friends, in which case I pull the “X game sucks ass” shit-talking(Final Fantasy VII is my favorite game to do this), but everyone knows I don’t really mean it(since I’ve only played Final Fantasy VII for a couple of hours).
I’ll talk shit to anyone once I get to know they. I generally try to back it up. However, Impact Clash is in Douglasville and that shit kind of sucks. Not easy for me to get out there. Hopefully Mags fulfill his promise of bring IC back inside the perimeter.
anyway. Shit talking appears to be a fundamental part of the scene. People in Ga don’t talk shit to one another much, but it happens of course. I’m the only habitual shit talker in the GA scene at the moment. Check out West Coast cats and how they talk shit on one another. Woah, now that shit is funny.
Well, I just got a job, so I’m working now. My gaming will probably be a weekend only type thing, or after 6pm during the week if it’s close to Alpharetta.
Right now I play MvC2, SF4, and SC3. I’m also into Halo 3 and other’s but those are the top fighting games. I liked Rival Schools and Third Strike. The Alpha series… not so much.
Sometimes it’s all about enjoying the atmosphere.
What’s WABA? I’m good for rides if gas money is present. (If no gas money, then lawn mowing or car washing services is the backup xD j/k kinda)
The BEST thing would be to get a petition to the fun factory since they already got a barebone of what’s needed. Get 4 or 5 games that you want them to get and make a plea to management (the people OVER the people who work there… I think they’re hq’d in Hawaii of all places) and see if you can get it back citing the Moody and College Crowds. It’s only a matter of time before they close.
The trash talk is great if people stopped taking it as a “imma kick yo ass irl” or “wtf??? MM dammit!” THe guile thing seemed sound and all in good fun though
Lobeilia choose Guile. fuck that bullshit, keep it American. Or Dhalsim. We need another member of the World Warrior glitchers. I’ve been repping Sim and Guile for 18 years, though I do it rather poorly in SF4. Anyway, SF in general is a game of patience, but if you’re less patient, then I suggest a rushdown character. Or someone who sets the past of the match. Sagat is good for controlling the match, and Viper seems to be the defacto rushdowner of the game.
He’s really fun. Back-throw shenanigans are too good.
I don’t talk shit because I don’t have the skill to back it up. I talk mad shit in Virtua Fighter, though. You should have seen me against that one Akira player at Final Round when I was just dicking around with Pai.
“WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT MY MID KICK SON? WHAT YOU KNOW?!”
I’d be more than willing to shell out gas money. Waba is a gaming center in Duluth. It’s one of the places that is frequented by Atlanta’s community.
Yeah, I liked hearing about the Guile money match. I also remember a friend of mine teaching me how to talk shit.
“Aw, that’s bullshit!”
“Naw, man, that shit’s tight!”
I lack the necessary patience to play as Guile or Dhalsim, and I lack the necessary execution skills to play as Viper. If I could play as anyone in the game with execution as no barrier, it would indeed be Viper, but without the manual dexterity, I don’t think I can do that. Gouken seems like a happy medium of offense and defense.
