SF4 did take some elements from the ex series. People that really played the game know that as fact. I didn’t like ex three but I played the others. Anyways, I think I narrowed my location down for the arcade venue. Now I need some cab’s and computers. I’m on the hunt now. Wish me luck. My fav EX game is EX2 because that maybe the best blanka ever made. Might be better than cvs2 blanka. :wow: All I wanted was the hop over projectiles super and :grrr: that face for blanka in sf4. That’s all I fucking wanted for sf4!!!

I don’t disagree. I also will defend the quality of Street Fighter EX3 to the grave, because I fucking love that game. The only real problems that it had were graphics and a slight degree of character imbalance…or so I’ve heard, but then again, it was the EX3 haters that told me Kairi/Rosso broke the game, so their statement was probably fueled by bias.
Long story short: EX3 isn’t a bad game. Neither is Street Fighter IV. Return of Shiki is a dick. That hasn’t been news for years.

RE: SF4 Gameplay
Last time I was at Metal’s place, we had a quick conversation about games like 3S. There was a point that he made that I’ll summarize:
“Almost every character in 3S has been reduced to one or two main tactics and just perfecting their execution.”
I think that this statement has truth to it, but it also took ~10 years for 3S to reach that level. If we’re still playing SF4 ten years from now, I would expect to see the same drilled-down perfected techniques out of serious matches.
For a lot of people, SF4 is a chance to take a fighting game that is “new,” (I’m using “new” very loosely) and learn what is “new” about it. For example: I love Guile in almost all previous SF games, but he feels like a different ballgame in SF4. Capcom didn’t give him a bevy of new moves, they mostly tweaked his existing arsenal. Learning how he and all other characters work now is fun to me. I don’t know if that is a credit directly to SF4 or merely to having a “new” fighting game that isn’t broken out of the box, but its my personal reason for liking SF4. Oh, and Dan’s in SF4, I’ll play almost any game that has Dan in it! 
Then again, I’m not that serious about fighting games, so my approach to them might be a bit different.
I think I’ll pick up EX3 at gamestop tonight and give myself a bit of a history lesson.
Street Fighter EX3 is fun shit. I love it. If I had people to play it with me, I would play the dogshit out of it.

Here in the state of Ga.
Pokchop played EX for I don’t know how long, Syminite, Skilla, Myself, D.O. and a host of others got butt raped by him on numerous occasions in multiple versions of EX.
No we don’t play it as often as we play say Marvel or 3rd strike, that doesn’t mean the interest isn’t there, here in the state of Ga (and yes I’m speaking for people now) alot of people do not even like to continue training in a game if they think there will be no scene, instead of building there own audience and possibly taking the game to the next level.
Since you all do not travel and do not play talent outside your local areas or tournament attenders you’ve taken it personal that the man stated an opinion about SF4… that alot of people on this very site feel the exact same way, alot of them call it an advanced 3rd strike and if you didn’t play 3rd or get solid in it then you of course wouldn’t know or understand.
Lobelia you of all people should know how it feels to enter a thread, have facts and good points but get shitted on for all reasons besides the topic at hand.

He is short and stubby in sf4 and I hate that. When I jump kick and it misses because he is shorter now, EVEN though blanka is suppose to be 6’4 he has short range on his sweep than ken and ryu and those fuckers are 5’9 in heels! SF3 made the right type of sweep for them in next gen. Then in 2d impact and 3rd strike that added the moving forward action to their sweep to give them more range. IMO sf4 is like sf3, EX, and ST fucked with no condom and had a sf4 baby. SOme people don’t like babies and some people adore them. I see flaws in sf4, but overall it’s a great game imo. The hype in the community hasn’t been this high since forever imo.
The link system is better than having auto chain combo’s. It takes more skill imo to do a hard link combo than a dail a combo chain. Also there’s no air blocking. I love this part of sf4 because people need to stop jumping like rabbits some much. The dumbest strat i’ve ever seen in a fighting game is jump forward or the so called empty jump!!! WTF kinda stupid shit is that? I personally never liked 2 button throws in capcom fighters, but that’s a personal opinion. I understand why they have 2 button throws, but I feel that they usually have too much priority. If they make them like A3 2 button throws then that’s ok, but when you have kara throws beating special throws that’s just plan dumb imo. Why even have a special throw character in the game when you can press 2 buttons and your throw comes out faster than the special throw?
I’m one of the few people that love the old school 1 button throws. That made you study the throw range for each character you played with. You just couldn’t dash up and throw without going to the what old school players call “the neutral state”. This is one of my biggest pet pev’s about 2 button throws. In a 3d based game like tekken, soul calibur, and VF I can understand why you need 2 button throw because you have characters side steping shit and moving in a 3d world, but not in a 2d based game. I just hope that sf4 doesn’t turn into sf3 4th strike when most of the players in the usa dash back and forth and throw or low forward super. That would make sf4 stale really fast imo. We have been there and done that type of game in 3S.

I don’t play 100 games, Iceman. I only play two or three games at any given time, and as I’ve stated on multiple occasions(apparently to deaf ears), Virtua Fighter has been a part of my lineup for a number of years. I’m extremely passionate about it and have been for a long time. The reason I’m so flighty is because there’s not really a scene for Virtua Fighter in this state or any others, and I need something to distract me between Virtua Fighter sessions.
I did answer his fucking question. He responded by calling me “she-boy.” Is it okay for him to do that because he’s been a part of the scene longer than I have? Is “she-boy” suddenly a valid response because he’s placed in tournaments and I haven’t?
I can dig that. They fucked with a lot of characters, it seems. Is Sakura ever going to…you know…age at all?

Yes him being involved in more tournaments, traveling more and being outside his local area gives him a certain knowledge about the gaming community, a certain outlook that you do not currently have or know anything about.

The reason I have an issue with Return of Shiki is because he started an argument in a discussion that wasn’t his business in the slightest. He then proceeded to pummel both Tiger Onslaught and myself with personal attacks as a means of justifying his statement. He’s been known to do this for a long time, from what I can gather. I don’t care how many tournaments he’s placed in. That doesn’t make him any less of an asshole.

My only issue with that game, really, is Sagat. It’s not a big enough issue to be a deal-breaker, though. He’s really dumb, but the smarter player will always win in that game.
