I think a big part of your problem is that you are playing Guile like it is ST. In SF4 he doesn’t work that way. He doesn’t have the tools to do it. You have to sit back and make them come to you.
I know you keep saying you are the most defensive player in Georgia, but that really isn’t true(not meaning to be offensive or anything). I know that every time we’ve played you constantly came at me. You were almost never on the defense. Now that may be because I play a lot of characters defensively and I love being in the corner(ask Wanton if you don’t believe me, I rarely ever come forward). There is nothing wrong with that, its just I don’t think you are as defensive as you think you are. And to play guile in SF4 you have to be super defensive, because he doesn’t have the offensive options everyone else in the game was blessed with.

I saw this ridiculous Guile player at Arcade Infinity a few days ago. He had like a 20 win streak(and was winning against guys like Keno and somuchdamage). He would just sit back, and only approach when he saw a solid opening, then he would do some big damage.

Now, I’ll say it again, I’m not trying to put you down or anything, just trying to offer a little advice as I see it. I want everyone out here to get better. I’ve been picking up a lot of stuff from the being in the arcades that I will be sharing when i get back.

I figured that either Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, or Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be the obvious choices.

Metalmike, I’ve been reading up and watching a lot of Guile. Unfortunately he’s just bad. I won’t even nerf about his shitty flash kick. He has few ther anti-airs that keep people honest about jumping. Sure ex flash kicks are great, but they cst meter and can STILL miss. I was reading James Chen concerns about Cammy and it was concluded that it’s best t use a character you didn’t in ST.

Too man old ST tricks and habits are just reaking in my gameplay. That’s why I’m giving Guile a break and focusing on other people. Guile can be effective in SF4, but I’m old and can’t shake his CE, ST, and CVS2 persona. I can even use Charlie in Alpha, but at least he has different pokes that make me feel I have to relearn him. Guile looks, feel, and smell like Guile but it’s not the soldier I once knew.

I am focusing on 3 new characters. Dhalsim as always and two others.

As far as my defense. Well I prefer to be defensive, but I know in some matchups it’s not possible. turtle Guile isn’t going to beat a turtle Ryu. So I have to damage him quick and sit on a lead. in sme matches like E. Honda I generally turtle harder. In 3s I’m more inclined to turtle most of the time, but that game isn’t as matchup intensive as ST.

Turtling with Guile is hard in SF4, it can be done but I rather just turtle with someone else. Thanks for the tips Mike hope you can make it to Impact Clash.
