G.A.M.M.E. - Orlando, Florida - USA VS. JAPAN! $5000+ SF4, June 4-6 2010

I’m calling to re-reserve my room now

Edit: all done

Manny, I’m trying to figure out why you posted what you did. Based on what I’ve read, you had been talking to MLG for quite some time about this.

MLG didn’t even know about G.A.M.M.E. until yesterday, April 28. All contracts have to go through the legal department, and no contract was drafted up for you to pay for your costs or expenses. MLG has had no correspondence with you. The senior executives would never approve a contract or deal like you said MLG did in trying to pay you off. The only person you’ve ever spoken to from MLG is me, and that was only in passing at a few majors (SB4, NECX, Winter Brawl, etc.).

Someone else mentioned that he heard on the live stream for West Coast Warzone 2 that the dates were probably going to change for G.A.M.M.E. That was the first weekend of this month. That means moving the dates has been an issue for a while. At Winter Brawl you mentioned something about the hotel overbooking the rooms and the venue, but that resulted in you getting a different, better venue.

Why you would lie about this is beyond me–perhaps it was an elaborate scheme to make you look good and make MLG look bad. If that’s the case, then so be it. Just be honest about it.

And the plot thickens.

Aww Lawdy Lawdy Lord have mercy!

You sure LOL!

synchronistic happy dance has been put on hold until further notice.

time = $ and you guys selling out just put everyone who invested time into your event outta hella $. time practicing, time getting a hotel, time getting a car, time working to get money for the event, time managing funds so that bills wont be the reason for not going, i can keep going. MLG is cool… everyone wants to be McD and buy up good things and franchise them. if you think MLG knows or gives a damn about us, then maybe you made a good decision. but IRONICALLY while you took the 30 pieces of silver to crucify this event in hopes to have it resurrect 3 months later you forgot that GAMME isn’t God-tier, we the players weren’t only going to this event to support the ATL South, or enjoy good times with old friends and make new ones, or to help be a part of the most epic Tournament in the state since the Last Stand, we were going because GAMME promised to be worth the time, and effort AND IT WAS BEING HANDLED BY ONE OF US… and then @ the last minute u drop a bomb on the community. The success you would have earned for running a successful killer tournament, the success for those helping you out, the success that the Global community would have seen and internalized showing that a community can run and host and party while participating would be lost and given to MLG who has no business in the community in the first place. Florida rejects this decision, and for that matter anyone who dropped loot, time aka more loot, and worked aka hard earned loot, rejects this decision. Man up and ctrl-z what u just did if not go Judas yourself off i-4.

My hotel room is booked for the weekend, that’s for sure. If things go south (again), i’m just going to spend the weekend in Orlando since I took the vacation days already.

i’m just glad i live so close by that i don’t really have to invest money into this until the last minute. if i were across the country i definitely wouldn’t invest my time or money into this tournament; it seems really shady and illegitimate now after that “announcement”… even if you have attempted to “avert the crisis”, i believe the damage has already been done.

keep the sc community updated if any more changes occur, please… we have international players planning to fly in for this. the thread on 8wr is lookin’ pretty dry with relevant information that is necessary to the players putting money in your pockets.

I know plenty of people have already chimed in with their discontent, but I’m going to add mine too.

I’m a college student. I don’t have a lot of money, but Street Fighter is my passion. The same goes for my friends who have been scraping money together with me so we can all come out to GAMME. We’ve all made hotel reservations and put aside what little money we have for gas and other expenditures. In addition, since we all play on 360, we’ve been trying to get ps3 sticks together for us to use at GAMME. I just used majority of my last paycheck to order some parts to build a stick. I know other people have paid over $1000 in airplane tickets and what not, and compared to that, I haven’t spent much. But as a college student, I don’t have a lot of money. And yet, I’ve been putting as much as I can towards GAMME to support the scene in the South and play some games.

If you do change the dates, that’s real fucking low.

lol MLG

awesome a major tourney in my backyard falling apart… anyone screwed into coming shoudl this be canceled we can all just go drinking ok??

I second that:bgrin:

Yea, all of that.

All we need now is confirmation

So am I the only one that read this??? smh, no deal son no deal.Is this man saying what I feared most?? that this whole story was a hoax???, maybe the event was too grand too fast, just be honest bro We don’t care if all the voice actors cant come or if the pot is too big, or if daigo and mago cant come, just give me some cos play bitches, no lady gaga and some top tier playing and you’ll still get my $35. Fuck it let’s have gamme at UCF whatever let’s just make that shit happen

This man is my hero

Gran_Calc feel free to contact me and I will give you the info I have in this regard. I asked Keits who sent me a text while I was working tonight and was unable to login to SRK to post my text after I realized this a mistake.

We have been working with a lot of groups and events and sponsoring tournaments for a long time and we have been working to do everything we can in this community, it is unfortunate I made this mistake. if perhaps the deal I had was BS I will get to the bottom of it.

I have decided not to change the date - I contacted my hotel and let them know I will be moving forward with those dates to make sure they were not released.

I am sure you guys are upset and I do listen to everything everyone says, I take it all in and do the best I can to make the appropriate decision. I thought it was the right decision - I will learn from this mistake.

I will be going over this with all the staff and guests we have communicated with to make sure there is no confusion.

Thanks guys, GAMME is not going anywhere we are still working our butts off to make sure you guys have a great Major in Florida. I will not make the mistake of not including you guys in a decision this major again.

I’m glad to see that this thread has remained (somewhat) civil during the controversy, and am glad to see that GAMME’s sticking to the original date. Everyone take a deep breath and have fun in Orlando next month.

Drawing the line in the dirt Manny?

Heh…You hear that boys. Suit up. We have a fight coming up.

PS: You should have called me and asked whether or not the Empire would back you if you were going to fight through MLG date or not. I would have told you, that we don’t bow down to no one and neither should you.

Hmmm…this is interesting. Now…I’m not going to take any sides here because I don’t know the full story nor all the details (haha, bold face lie but whatever). However after reading your post Gran_Calc, an interesting issue comes to mind. You’re a part of the FGC and you stated that you in fact have a connection to MLG and from what it seems you have a really really good connection with them. In fact is it too far to say that you work for them? Nevertheless, I come up with that because you state that you know, not think, but know that MLG doesn’t know anything about GAMME until yesterday and that no contract was drafted up to pay anything, along with MLG not having any correspondence with GPX etc. With all that said…GAMME has been set as far back as SB4, which you stated that you spoke with Manny at such majors etc. Since you knew this…why didn’t you inform MLG that before setting their dates that GAMME was one of the majors that was reserved months in advance? If MLG Corporate didn’t know then you had a obligation to the FGC and a responsibility to MLG to inform them. So why didn’t you? Just curious.

NOW please do not take this an a attack on you. I have my assumptions as to why perhaps you didn’t say anything but I don’t want to be presumptuous about it either. I think what matters most is that GAMME is back on and the crisis has been averted and BS politics behind it is irrelevant so let’s all be merry and enjoy the festivities.

Proverb of the day: There is always two sides to every story. :coffee:
