Future of Nintendo? Bright.. or Dark

Sony really doesn’t have anything to fall back on if the gaming division fails.
Last I checked everything but their gaming division is failing.

PS3 sold so much on ebay because each store got at most 5 for like a year.

Dafuq? Sony owns like half the music you hear on the radio along with a quarter of the movies you watch. They’re doing fine.

Nintendo has a pile of money to fall back on

Nintendo could focus on a handheld/console hybrid since console gaming seems to be dying in Japan (see: PS4 selling worse than Wii U and Vita there).

The Wii U is kind of like that already with offscreen play but you still need to carry the console with you.

Edit

There was some articles a few months back about Sony’s financial situation that weren’t too positive.

Here are a few:

Good thing their gaming division is doing well, so won’t have to worry about that.

Yeah true, but people seem to forget that Nintendo banks tons of 3ds and Pokemon alone, and the fact their games sell throughout their life as opposed to opening 3 mil sales, on its first weekend, and then non one buys it anymore. And then people keep comparing it to Sega and Dreamcast when that situation is difference since Sega was already in a rut from dropping all those damn consoles consecutively, and then blowing a budge on shenmue. Nintendo is doing solid, i just think people need to look at if the company is profiting as opposed to “omg will it 100 mil”

Ps4 is selling off its leftover turbulence from last year’s e3 when Sony counter attacked MS policies, because I can tell you know one is buying that console for its for its 2 exlusives. In the end I think all will do fine. PS2 crushed its gen, but unless I’m wrong GC still made Nintendo money, and idk about xbox since i hear their gaming division has never made a profit for MS or barely a profit not sure.

I know that Red Ring alone cost $1 billion.

I’d say I’m surprised that this thread is still open…but I’m not.

GC definitely made a bit of change, but iirc not enough to make a serious case against the mighty PS2. The reason PS3’s were selling so high was because Sony pulled the same tactic they did with PS4, making a limited supply so the demand would shoot up (which is actually another reason PS4 is selling decently).
Also, imo, Nintendo would make more if they focused their efforts on their handheld department, which has always been at the front of the pack (mostly because they’re the only ones making a dent in the market, but that’s neither here nor there.)

Also,

Thanks for the update, I hadn’t seen these articles (military training…)

I’m sure you all wanted to see this. Despite all this doomsaying, they only took 1 step back to take 3-5 steps forward.

Po you can proceed to laugh maniacally

Lolz@nintendodead

You really thought Nintendo was dead?. They had a round of the best games of the year (5 of the top 10 of the year are Nintendo games), They are selling again, not as strong or primary console, but as secondary console, hell they are making profit right now for every console and game they sell.

Nintendo is okay now, Sony and MS on the other hand…

Sony gaming brand is the only thing carrying the entire corporation, they are putting more money into the PS Brand because Movies aren’t in good position, Music is getting passed by Streaming and Torrents and Soundcloud and Bandcamp, TV is getting hit hard by Samsung and LG, Cellphones are good but not selling.

The PS Brand is the only thing that keeps Sony from stopping.

And I tell you that as a PS4 owner and happy owner.

Hey Nintendo-haters… How my ass taste?

This is wrong. Sony Life is what keeps the company afloat, not Playstation. Sony has been selling life insurance a lot longer than they’ve sold consoles, and makes up the bulk of the company’s operating income. You mentioned Sony Pictures and Music but both still made more money than the gaming division. What’s hurting Sony is mobile, because its a market dominated by Apple and Samsung, and the fact Sony still sells TVs and when was the last time anyone bought a Sony branded television? This is going off information you can easily read in their financial reports which is publicly available.

I bought a Sony tv last year.

its because they got hyped up by the imagination of how powerful the new consoles were only to find out they aren’t as powerful as they thought, it just sounded like it was. imho I think ps4 games are highly optimized and rival ultra settings on pc visual wise, PC just has the speed right now. PC players keep saying the consoles have mid ranged components (low midranged actually) yet they are pumping out games that look exactly the same as ultra. you hear less and less PC master race comments the more games that come out

but the thing is, VR. this is the real problem for console vs PC. hopefully it doesn’t turn into a craze in the future.

as for nintendo. why don’t they just license a steam box and completely take over the market? just sell it at a premium, people would buy that. actually they’r probably planning something like that anyway lolz

all the money in the world can’t protect nintendo from meteors.

lol this stupid thread and all of Orochizoolanders other threads insisting Nintendo was dead, and that he was some sort of finance and industry expert. Linking articles and insisting because a “journalist” wrote it on the internet, it must be true.

Even more ironic now with the GamerGate stuff casting doubt on the gaming journalism industry as a whole.

I get a good laugh on it, but of course nobody will admit how dumb they were being (and no it wasn’t just orochizoolander, but I just remember your name because you were the most vocal and honestly, the only one that I expected more out of).
