Future of Nintendo? Bright.. or Dark

read bold. think about it, you have to search through a continuous torrent of shit to find something decent. A big turn off for a lot of people, and especially when those good games force you to use that waggle shit.

I also think this is a very important point, good story/gameplay is only half the battle.

I am a huge advocate of HotD: Overkill. It was funny as hell and it had great style.
Muramasa was pretty good too.

I mean, there are good games for the Wii, its just that those games were basically outshined by Nintendo products.

I said in general. In general, gaming sucks. There are a few games that are actually worth while. So many “hardcore gamers” are just kids who buy the latest and most promoted game. Then again I’m not a gamer. I’m a former WC3 player and am now a 3rd Strike and LoL player.

Did anyone watch that pre-E3 conference Nintendo held earlier today?

Holy shit.

That “social sitcom” bit with the hipster nerd trying to beat a zombie was bar none the WORST thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I literally felt queasy after watching it. I repeat, Nintendo has actually caused me physical pain.

I fucking hate you so much, Nintendo. I am now willing to sacrifice a goat to Satan in order to ensure your destruction as a console developer.

Stop being a hater

Seriously, I take it from that stream that Nintendo’s new target demographic is NO ONE. They’re targetting an eldritch race of aliens that are completely unlike any human being that actually exists.

This incredibly stupid gimmicky shit, like making the Wii U controller a TV remote, having individual message boards for certain sections in games, being able to pause the game to start a video webchat with somebody… WHY?? Why do these things exist?? Why is there so much fat and not enough meat? These are all terrible things, solutions to problems that don’t actually exist and will not help them in the slightest. No one is going to buy this thing just because you can play it while someone else watches TV. This is a new benchmark for retarded gimmickry, stupid and ultimately useless contrivances taken to a ridiculous extreme. This is what they’re focusing on instead of actually doing new things with software.

I… no words. I have none. I want to see Nintendo perish in flame. I am tired of their bullshit and if you consider yourself a sane human being you should be too.

Well there’s the thing, its a lot of guess work. They do have great 3rd party titles, but…when I was playing Muramasa, I seriously thought, why would I pay 40 dollars for this game, when it feels like a 1200 point Xbox Live Arcade game.

Maybe im just finding excuses, but

I don’t think I have ever had a console with so little games for it.

And I don’t think I’ve ever been so dissatisfied over all with a system, it felt like one huge step back because the waggle controls where always poorly implemented. There isn’t a game where I felt that the waggle controls really shined and complimented the game.

Case in point,

Metroid Corruption.

There was no real exploration, there was no secrets, no backtracking, no real puzzles, or thought on how to get to the hidden missle tank way above the room. It literally was, point, shoot, collect obvious missle, shoot again. The waggle control took over and took away from all other aspects. And all Wii games with the exception of a select few games like Mario Party, Mario Galaxy, HotD, took away from gameplay to focus on waggle gimmicks.

This is how I felt about Wii U, hopefull
But now I feel like this, confused, I agree with you, Nintendo should stop making consoles, and make focus on making full fledged games.

Feed Reggie to Nemesis I say. Hit him in the face with Bionic Arm, over and over and over again. Fuck Reggie.

You know what’s funny, after all their transgressions there are still people who are still willing to have an “all is forgiven” moment where if Nintendo announces whatever pipe dream game they want they’ll forgive them for all their stupid bullshit. I don’t think that’s proper. Anyone remember this comic?

And then Other M came out, and surprise! It went on to become widely regarded as the worst Metroid game ever made, in addition to having such an incredibly misogynistic storyline that it would set the entire industry back several decades.

I’m saying it’s completely trite to let a company fuck you over time and time again and then go back to loving them simply because they promise you candy and roses.

There is nothing Nintendo can do to make me “forgive” them. I am now completely committed to the idea of their death. And I hope I’m not alone.

Dunno about you, but I never felt like Nintendo fucked me over. I just have fun playing their games.

I found it entertaining under the circumstances; I only learned of the Pre-E3 video at the last minute so I was excited. I can see why it might be hated, as under different circumstances I might hate it as well. Even then, I understand that it was an intentionally silly/campy (as if goofing off with friends) way to introduce some of the Wii U features. It did quite well in that regard IMO.

Your game controller **can **also act as a TV remote: how that isn’t a plus is beyond my understanding. It only adds something of value and makes things more convenient. The ability to video chat is also an optional feature. If you don’t see yourself using it, then fine, but I’m sure there are those who could make great use of it. Assuming these are features of a game controller coming in at the now-expected retail price of $40-50, I don’t see anything there to complain about.

The included message boards are a great way to save time and connect with other gamers as well. In case you didn’t pay attention, if people are stuck at a certain point and need help getting past it, they can easily get help **right then and there **without having to log on to their PC. The message boards could be there to build a small community. Doubtless, I wonder how effective it turns out. Interesting ideas on applications nonetheless.

You’re not getting me. I’m not saying it’s inconvenient, rather I am balking at how pretentious and unnecessary it is. It’s ultimately useless padding, nothing majorly innovative but just there for the sake of being there. The implied mentality behind these ideas makes me angry in a way I can’t succinctly explain. It seems like a trite and pointless waste of time to include these features, and they make developing games more difficult for third parties because now they have to use this crap they’re shoving down our throats. It was bad enough before this was revealed, when the idea was that ports of games would necessarily have to utilize the touch screen controller but now they have to have message boards and all this other useless crap in the game too? If I were a developer I’d just flip Nintendo the bird and stick to the other systems where my dedicated fans already are sitting comfortably. There is no reason for ANY of this garbage to exist. All this and the 360 ripoff controller they introduced signifies that they don’t have even the slightest semblance of a cogent strategy with this machine. As I said, it’s all fat and no meat, and it implies that Nintendo is fine with losing itself in utter banality. They’ll probably be fine taking this approach to their games as well.

Yes, it adds convenience, yes it’s optional, but I’m saying that, above all else, it’s completely fucking stupid. They’re in a frenzy trying to chase as many customers as possible and in the end they will fail to hook anybody who isn’t already a weeping nostalgia-deluded fanboy.

Other M was outsourced by Team Ninja, so I didnt have much faith in that game anyway.

I also didn’t like the FPS step any of those GC/Wii games made. It didn’t feel like Metroid. Actually, I liked the boss battles, but gaming itself felt very far and betweem as opposed to a contiguous experience.

But seriously, I think Nintendo is good for the gaming community. They push in a totally different direction and somehow is successful with it. If we only have Sony and MS leading the industry, it will be just more of the same shit over and over.

They are pushing into a world without F-Zero…and that shit will not fly.

But to be honest, it depends on what part of Nintendo we’re talking about. Sony and Nintendo are both doing the handheld market good and things look good (well aside from MML3, but that’s Capcom, and fuck Capcom.) But the Wii U, it just looks like an attempt at being different for the sake of being different, and nothing else. I would love for them to prove me wrong, but they haven’t even released that new Pikmin on the Wii yet, so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Getting the same shit over and over ain’t bad as long as it’s good. I like better graphics, better audio, and slightly improved game play. I don’t need the game to be ORIGINAL CONTENT OMG SO FRESH. Now, Call of Duty is getting pretty stale - I’m talking a little bit differently. Like F-Zero -> F-Zero X -> F-Zero GX/AX. FF until after 10 (10 was pushing it a little too far by removing ATB as it is…) Just about every Zelda title. Who knows though, maybe I’m killing the industry by liking that kind of stuff (yeah, if they remade FFVI with sparkly new 3D graphics, I would buy it without thinking.)

If Nintendo were to die they’d just go third party like Sega. I think that would be for the best because it would mean they would CONSTANTLY have to be making games, no more of this “ignoring your fanbase by only releasing one good game a year” bullshit, and they’d have to constantly be new and interesting. They’d keep having to come up with new game ideas to stay in business, no more rehashing the same Mario and Zelda formulas from 1996. We’d see new entries in classic franchises much more often. We’d see them constantly coming up with new IP. We’d see all their games in high definition with tons of effort put into them. And we wouldn’t have any more deluded fanboys saying that Nintendo is good exactly as they are right now (they’re not).

If we had Sony and MS leading the industry then we’d see tons more great games. Nintendo is ruining everything, they’re all about stagnation and lowest common denominator bullshit when it comes to software. They’re the reason Microsoft is pushing Kinect so hard right now and why we see so many terrible casual games saturating the market that offer no challenge, no point, no depth, nothing. These games are just ways for grandma to get instantly gratified and think that she actually accomplished something. It’s all Nintendo’s fault.

Stupid shill game journalists paid off by Nintendo and Apple to tell me “oh casual gamers and shitty games are a good thing” can harp on about it all they want. They’re dead wrong. I will fight them.

I’ll just say that my wii and my 3ds TOGETHER have maybe 40 hours of gameplay. Bought both on day one. Will obviously never buy anything branded Nintendo again.

The Wii had disappointed me. I bought it on day one and it was the first console of this generation I owned and the only one I owned for some time. It turned out the motion controls were just a gimmick, the online was terrible (urgh, friend codes), lack of 3rd party support and my favourite games on the system (Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl) were pretty much GameCube games. It all felt so last-gen.

I had a glimpse of it while playing mario kart wii when I bought a wii for the first time this year. thw wii and almost all of it’s games online seems REAALLY hopeless but then when you play mario kart wii you’re taken to an online world that surpases 99% of the online console games out there today

seeing the new things the wii U has and understanding Nintendo’s agenda I’d say Nintendo is the only company out there that is actually putting thorough research into GAMING COMMUNITY

im predicting it now, Wii U will start a revolution in gaming that will put gaming back on it’s feet again instead of straining in that coffin it’s being trying hard to climb out of.

I think we should all sell our ps3’s and xbox 360’s and give FULL support to Nintendo :wonder:

8/10 would get trolled again.

I’m dead serious.

if you understood marketing, biology, philosophy, psychology and kinesthetics then you wouldn’t be such an easy target for corporate sales propaganda. I know it’s not your fault but it’s annoying to watch

I feel all heroic and kind telling you that
