There are a bunch of DAW’s (digital audio workshops) which one you use doesn’t really matter. Cubase, Logic, Reason, Fruity Loops, Ableton Live, Pro Tools etc, they are all means to an end. Get some torrents on mininova and try them out.
Watch a bunch of tutorials and just keep fucking around till something happens. Try to imitate your favorite producers and you will eventually develop your own style.
Also making music is difficult, period. Even with all the tutorials and things on the internet, if you want to create something that’s actually good, it takes a lot of time and effort, and that much more if you’re learning completely on your own. Not only do you have to learn about how music works, you have to learn how the programs work, and then after all that you have to be creative too…lol.

*Kenny Dope And the Bucketheads - The Bomb The original and music video got owned by youtube. Here’s the best mix I could find and it’s the first song of this bundle. The other tracks are tip top too. (Includes Spiller Featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Groovejet, Tim Deluxe - It Just Won’t Do, and Arman Van Helden’s - The Funk Phenomena)

I’ll leave it at that for now. Gonna keep checking this thread for more great tracks and artists-
Wow this is actually on iTunes. May snag this later.
I used to, in college. Not really that hard to get in to… it’s basically learning by experience and knowing the music. Matching beats isn’t really that hard, but to be a good DJ just takes experience - when to fade in/out/over, how and when to adjust the levels… it’s all learned by doing it and feeling the music. You gotta feel house, if you wanna spin it.
If you’re going to get turntables, check Craigslist. A LOT of people are getting rid of their gear for pretty cheap and going the digital route. Technics 1200s - industry standard. Don’t get anything less, because they’re mostly shit. Numarks are alright if you’re on a really tight budget. Get some cartridges (needles), some Stantons will do the trick, shouldn’t cost you more than $30-$35 each for stuff that will get you by. As far as a mixer goes, a simple and relatively inexpensive Vestax should do the trick if you’re just starting out. Headphones… anything with a 1/4" headphone jack, but make sure you can head the music clearly enough over your output source.
As far as output goes… you can do it lame like I did since I was a broke ass student and spent all the money on the other shit, and just hook up your mixer to any stereo.

I get the feeling that individually IMing songs to each other would require a little too much coordination and all of that… not to say that I’m not online all damned day, every day… but still.
Man I wish I still had access to an ftp dump… I could just PM the login info to everyone who’s interested and anyone could just upload their shit there for ‘members’ to download. Anyone have anything like that available?
Rapidshare is also an option… just sharing of rapidshare links, all you gotta do is upload something once and it’ll stay there for good.
Totally digging this jam right now… dunno if anyone posted it yet):
Depends on the connection? I was moreso thinking along the lines of passing around new music or already hosted files, just exchanging random links and maybe a few HD files that others want etc.
when i get all my tunes in order i’ma send ya’ll some stuff, infact when i have the time i’ll put all my tunes in a winrar file and post it in this thread.
