Hey I just got Virtual DJ.

What’s some good artists that’ll be easy for a beginner like me to mix

try some of the tunes on the first page.

RIP Michael Jackson, your influence to house music (and pretty much every genre today) is felt strongly today.

I think it’s safe to say James Brown, and Michael Jackson are the most influencial musicians in the 20th and 21st century.

one of my favorite mj tracks - you rock my world

It’s a little harder than I thought mixing songs.

You actually gotta KNOW the music. Know what parts cut in and at what time. Damn so much that I didn’t really think about.

It’s called beatmatching qing etc, check dj forums for tutorials.

So you would reccomend when you are first starting out, to mix music from the same genre since they usually have a similar BPM and progression and shit like that?

if your a beginner I suggest playing around with the pitch control its the switch that goes from -8% to +8%. alter the speed on one or both tracks to match the beat.

get some music with a distinctive kick, mix intro-outro and outro-intro before you get creative.

remember that you slap the fader (if you’re a fader guy) on the other side on the first beat of the next phrase.

do you guys think a song like Show me love-

And

Micheal Gray The weekend-

Could make a good mix?

I was thinking of trying to splice the part where it says I can’t wait in the Micheal Gray song, with for you to show me love from the Micheal Mind song

I’m kinda frustrated, but I assume it’s mostly just because of the beginner learning phase

get a program called mixed in key…

an important part of djing is harmonic mixing. every song has a key, some keys are compatible, some aren’t.

As a DJ you play the way YOU want to play. Do you want to be sort of an “educator” always surprising the crowd with eccentric, unheard of stuff, or do you want to play “beatport hits” and play stuff that is sure to work or do you do a little of both or none at all.

So as for if those songs could make a good mix, don’t ask us, ask yourself! You gotta have your own style.

As for phrases, you have to listen to the songs and just transition where they feel right, for now stick with intro-outro outro-intro then get creative or get creative right now , just have fun.

Thanks. I’ll cop when I get the money. It’ll help like a motherfucker.

You’re right. I may see potential for a mix in some songs, while some other person will see nothing at all. Can’t do anything, but practice and find what works.

I just wish there was some kind of starting point. It feels like I’ve been thrown to the flames immediately.

that should help too

This song is just sex. One of the deepest tracks I’ve ever heard. Listen to it high.

Anyone know of any deep houses mixes? I mean like REALLY deep moody stuff?
