juri loses this match pretty convincingly. all i can say is try not to let her in by any means. her j.hp beats/trades with juri’s best AA’S ( and she can alter her arcs by doing tatsu and still hit you ). and when your on knockdown, needless to say juri is pretty free to meaty lk tatsu. it beats ex pinwheel, backdash, counter ( armor breaker ). basically just try to zone her alot with fuhajins and such. i can’t really offer more than the reasons why she lose.
Her pokes aren’t as good as sakura IMO and pinwheels sometimes drops off.
Zone her, play the spacing game. Don’t anti air her unless you practice it. Gotta do chp earlier than usual. I suggest just counter and jump back roundhouse.
Smart rushdown will take care of her just watch put for ex shouken. I really enjoy throwing fireballs as shields on wake up.
Facing some Twins at Next Level I know the match up zoning them out but, some of them we’re really good.
Hey I was at the next level on friday would you be the guy that was playing Juri on console with Alt 2 costume?
Ah you guys, you were the juri players there on friday night? A few of my friends mentioned two Juri players there and it just clicked it might have been you. My long Island training buds were out there in full force apparently. I had work Would have been nice to meet you.
Alright. I’m tired of the Ibuki match-up. What’s the best way to go about this match? I will take her down to damn near dead, and one mistake leaves me in the vortex that usually leads to my end. I’m beginning to have more trouble with Ibuki than I do with Bison (who is my worst match by far). I need some help guys. I’m beginning to feel free.
Should I stick to zoning? Be passive-aggressive? Options for getting out of the vortex? What are some of the secrets of this match?
:qcb::2p:
What vortex?
No, really I was the new guy with her on Arcade cabinet but, I know who your talking about.
It’s alright man lol. always next time. But, didn’t get a chance to play some sets with some people.
POST UP THAT LINK. BTW: I bet that my Oni could lose to your Juri worse than 0-5.
Yes that’d be one option I know lol. Unfortunately its kind of a once or twice thing.
I was looking for a few other options. Additionally. I still need general advice on the match
When it comes to ibuki and not having meter and she’s doing meaty kunai setups you usually have to look at the kunai and see how ibuki jumped. Did she super jump then meaty kunai or did she regular jump and meaty kunai’ed. You can also FA, and backdash out.
When it comes to blockstrings, I would say it’s easier to block and delay cr.tech as effectively as you can. She has a kara throw, not as much as juri or ken but still a kara throw. Alot of her blockstrings are very nice frame traps that can catch people pressing buttons. Which will net her a counter hit combo into knockdown and another mixup to catch you off guard. Also beware of mashing cr.tech it’s an inherent flaw that alot of people have and is actually a good thing for people who have tight frame traps.
Another thing to look out for is her overhead. Although extremely slow it is comboable into U2 and more knockdown situations.
I’ll be at the next Level sometime this week prob Friday again.
I recently had some long sets with a friend I haven’t seen awhile who plays a real solid Ibuki and I’m very curious to hear more thoughts on this matchup. I can usually defend against the vortex but I have a hard time getting anything going offensively (though it seems Ibuki has some trouble anti-airing j.HP? not sure).
-Footsies? Seems like her s.mk beats a lot of my standing pokes and her mobility is very difficult to zone.
-Additionally, her new jump cancel-able target combo (TC10) seems to setup good offense for her.
-lk pinwheel seems like it is almost always punishable, the second hit seems to whiff at most ranges where it’s normally safe(ish). Is there any effective ways to pushing her back that doesn’t involve giving up ground?
-Raida flat out beats dive kick and sekku overhead.
Usually for getting out the vortex I mix up between focus-dashing (try this in training mode first!), EX Counter (I usually just try to escape with left-right options, going for the aerial options often get me punished), and blocking
Forgot to add on how to fight ibuki. She can’t really deal with X-ups like viper. Auto correct ex upkicks is kinda hard to do. Try sticking to j.hp as your main cross up on ibuki. Ex upkicks is also really easy to safe jump since it’s a 5 frame reversal. If you are wary of the kunai from ex dp try focus attack it works like a charm.
She doesnt have any good defensive options. Keeping pressure on her is the best way to get to her with kara throws mixed in there if she is blocking. Try to treat her like Rufus and watch her meter. People seem to find her reversal to be a little too good but it really isn’t.
I would like to say her footsies and juri’s aren’t even. Juri has no cancellable standing far normals and ibuki just needs St.mk and cr.mp. Juri’s has farther reach but can’t keep the pressure with far normals as ibuki can just go from a normal into spin kicks. Her spin kicks are -4 on block so it’s not punishable. The mk version without adding a third kick is 0 on block. If she tries to add a third kick to her spin kicks you can mash out ex pinwheel and hit her. For ex spin kicks if she goes low is the time to mash out expinwheel.
Alot of things in this match up amount to a really good defense and keeping pressure on her. Take it to the lab and you’ll get an idea on how to face her if this doesn’t help.
Alright I might come.
Ibuki is a toss up. For me, I look to try to keep distance and build as much meter as possible. Ibuki is at her best when she is using he flash move, the one where she can cross up without jumping, and that shit mind fucks me every time. Also the vortex is her bnb, if you get a hard kd expect kunai into vortex. Juri can only take two full vortex combo before she is A, dizzy, and B almost dead. I usually just go into the match trying to push her to the corner, but I personally have issues mostly with the flash move and it just killing me. I def need more practice on it.
Hey when I get back on Saturday night anyone can definitely play me for a little match up experience. Im not the best ibuki but I can Sjc, keep up pressure, kunai vortex and try to style as best as I can.
The Ryu/Sagat page is missing and any info on the 4 new cast members vs Juri?
