Full-time Purple Spider Lesbian: Juri Match-up/Strategy Thread

Yeah thanks, I’m trying to work on my Juri along with Ken arghh so much stressful even on PSN freaking noobs with rog pissed me off and shit. One thing at a time is Ryu even to or high or low I was watching Daigo vs WeridNeo and he got owned by Ryu because of his awesome normals.

You probably mean daigo vs Killey, who did really well all things considering, he just did a pinwheel at the end and got super punished, his only and biggest mistake really.

Oh snap I thought it was Daigo and WeirdNeo but, Gamerbee beat WeirdNeo at evo2k10. So Juri, best normals are cr.mk and mk and hk or I’m mistaken?

All her normals are pretty good, learning how and when to use them is just experience, which you will achieve in time. In the balrog matchup cr.mk is your safest poke though.

Zone him. Don’t let him in. Rog is fucked vs zoning juri. Don’t ever get kd. It gets bad for juri quickly. Rog has a few setups for him jumps that’s are really ambiguous unless you know how they work. His frame traps are great, his footsies are nice. You keep him back and play the match lame.

Rush down is 50/50. Ex punch beats strikes loses to throws. Headbutt loses to strikes beats throws

Next time I fight a Rog now I know I figure out. Chun Li is different story right I rushdown the girl but, most of them know what they are doing lol. Vega is a pain sometime with the claw without it I’m good so, I just play it lame lol.

Vega you zone until you get the kd. Then you rush him down. Once you knock him down you should kill him. If he has u1, he’s dead. U2 you gotta respect it. It’s resetting the situation and claws back. U1 you stuff with mp.

Chun li is a mystery to me. Fuck that match up. Lol

Sekku (overhead) goes over Vega’s U2. Gives him a free escape but a tight for time hk dive can sometimes punish it.

Chunli is another matchup thats best left to zoning, baiting ex bird kicks is pretty easy. A Nj.hk will hit her out of it, a jump back to bait it followed by a divekick, sometimes a j.mp can hit her out of it and put her in a juggle state.

You can sweep her Nj.Hk too, doesnt look like it but you can, its pretty free.

Chun is just too…simple i guess, theres nothing really to her, shes got a decent counterhit/grab game but once she knocks you down you know where to block, she cant crossup unless she does flip kick which is a free counter so you get out for free everytime and get to start zoning again…duno man she isnt rocket science.

I guess my timing for techs are off. It’s free throws all day. Her footsies an pokes eat me. Ex counter fucks up I guess… I fuck the timing probably.

I didn’t know sweep beat njhk. Noted.

Ex legs fucks me over also

Gotta tell yourself this when chunny has one meter. If i try to cross up she’s gonna ex bird. neutral jump bait that shit. Expect ex legs and meaty jump it. Those are the two things are chuns love to do.

I don’t know what it is… An aggressive chun li flusters me. I’m afraid of hazanshu. My reactions to it is bad. I’m afraid of her sweep. I’m afraid of her jump in. I’m afraid of her throw mix up.

I’m more afraid of this than I am fei long to be honest. My first tourney match kind of scarred me. Against a good chun li. Just shut me down hard. I gotta practice this match up

What chunny loves to do is tech trap you for hazanshu. She’ll start trying to force you to crouch so she can hit you with the overhead. If you try to run away or stand up, boom, sweep. It’s so annoying. Most chuns like to start a match lame. Lame that shit out back at her. You whole game plan is to make chunny come to you. Put that down that purple rain man. Always have a high kick fuhajin store ready to answer her jump ins once her fireballs and forward motion is hindered. Chun gives me problems too, because one screw up and she destroys your bar and can put Juri into stun very quickly.

Note that hazanshu and sweep are done exactly at the same distance. It’s when Chun Li is at max sweep distance that you need to be ready and find set ups that beat those two options. Hazanshu is a good overhead that goes over projectiles. But it’s not armor breaking. So from sweep range vs Chun Li, I either neutral jump, instant dive kick, far st.hk or FA. Sometimes I even use kasatushi because at that distance she can’t reach me with anything else anyway.

Also remember that Chun Li’s anti-airs are crap and situational. So in other words she’s scared to death about Juri’s dive kicks. She doesn’t have a reliable option to stop it except block and ultra 2. So if you neutral jump, chances are Chun is gonna back away and block (scared of an incoming dive kick) unless she already compromised with Hazanshu.

You gotta stop being afraid of such a lame ass jump lol. She jumps so high and slow. You have all the time in the world to react. jf.mp, cr.mp, kasatushi or if you’re really unsure dash under and punish.

And don’t underestimate Juri’s Focus Attack. I know Chun Likes to jump with that double punch thing, but Juri’s FA actually modifies her hittable box and can help her avoid some stuff (just like cr.mk). So for example FA at a distance can avoid first hit and absorb the second one. It’s unreliable though because she can neutral jump and throw you. But FADC backwards is a decent option vs jumpins. Just remember to backdash after FA level 1 if it hits. As that can also bait EX bird kick or EX legs.

After playing online on PSN mad lag and too much Guile’s and Ryu’s finally a viper I was hype lol. Yeah dude you gotta careful of lame jump ins sometimes my crHK doesn’t work when I anti air noob ryu’s

Then don’t use it vs ryu jump ins. Lol

Anyway, i was testing out some stuff because kail had brought up some fears of chunny. For hanzashu, the lk is safe. I tried to use every move Juri has to counter hit, but i’m in block stun for too long, nothing comes out, so chun is free to continue her pressure. You can’t stuff it either it has a ton of priority against all of Juri’s normals. The only way you can beat hazanshu is is focus attacking it. If you time it right you get a crumple. For her jump in, i always make the fatal mistake of first not trying to AA it. And blocking low on the second punch, which causes the hit to connect. Other then that, just keep in mind that if you see lk>lk hanzanshu is not far along. Gl Kail!

I try and focus attack it…unfortunately my focus attacking skills went donw the drain when I switched to Juri and started doing other things to combat moves like hazanshu. Gotta up my game again…heh…

Its a matter of trying to play solidly makes me worry about a few things at once making me spaz out and lose control. Other matches I can limit my opponents options and be ready for one fo the few (Fei long, blanka, Ryu, etc). I play the matches based on the stripping of their options early in the match and making them adjust early hoping to catch them off theyre guard and get some damage in…then forcing them to use those options again or find another way to play.

Chun-li, Honda, Bison, Ibuki…I got nothing…heh. I can play the match up but its 50/50 really. Either I win or I dont…I dont tip the match in my favor because I dont know how to, heh.

-st.lp right after Dhalsim teleports for a nice reset. (FA, close st.hp and jf.mp also work)
-ex senpusha/katasushi to avoid yoga catastrophe
-many fuhajing stores from far away to stuff sims long punch
-jump forward/backward hk to air to air vs sim

I’ll add to that:

FA, LP/HP Kasatushi and Dive Kicks are the best way to close distance vs Sim. Never jump on him unless you’re going for some late dive kick shenanigan.

EDIT: Sorry I just noticed Emp Cow already covered most of this.

bad trade to stuff fierce with store. St.lp doesn’t juggle after a teleport, it resets. I was shocked to see that jump forward HK did stuff his jump strong (I think he used that). I like it.

I personally play the match far like Good-time did and hope to get a dive kick after a yofire. Dunno why he didn’t play it more aggressive.

Cause Good time just doesn’t give a fuck! =D my personal favorite Juri of them all.
