Full-time Purple Spider Lesbian: Juri Match-up/Strategy Thread

well appreciated mike. i personally think this is one juri’s easier match ups by far.

Tried with EX Senpusha, worked for all 4 CWs on both setups.

The fw throw > backdash > mk store+release > short step forward > cr.MK timing is a bit strict to be able to dodge all 4 CWs.

The fw throw > backdash > mk store+release > st.MP(whiff) > cr.MK(combo) timing is easier, no delay needed. The st.MP beats LK/MK CW, and HK/EX CW fly over it (might need to crouch after st.MP, not sure), you punish them on the other side with EX Senpusha for example.
If you perform this setup a bit slow the cr.MK may not be able to combo, but you’re still at frame advantage on block, and the st.MP now hit all 4 CWs, so a timing mistake when performing this setup is still safe.

Okay guys i think theres been a massive misconception of fuzzy fireballs which id like to address right now.

I tried out hotarus setup in the corner and for the most part ye it works. But i need to address this issue about fuzzy fireballs.

Crouch blocking and crouching are two different things, just because the fireball hits fuzzy on crouch hit (no block) doesnt mean it hits fuzzy on crouch block. And this is the case with Fei Long, you cant fuzzy him if he crouch blocks. Im not sure if this is how it works on all characters, but thats how it is for Fei.

Is this true? I thought it was uniform that when you get knocked down you dont crouch on frame one…

That happens when you set the training dummy to crouch. The training dummy stands on the first frame, it wont work if you use the record feature and crouch block.

wait…wait…wait…

wait…

That cant be true. I’ll tell you why. Hakan can do his “here I come” grab on you as can cammy do her Hooligan grab on wake up. I know its true because its happened to me. I even in mid match turned to the guy and said “wait, hooligan grab works on wake up? I’m ducking!”. he said “You’re standing frame 1 when you wake up so even though your ducking your hitbox is raised”.

Same for hakan.

So why does this not work with Juri?

Wait…wait…is it a tech stand thing?

Yeah, I encountered a quite similar problem with testing far.HK. Basically, most characters crouch animation and crouch block animations are different height. The “threatbox” from far.HK would case the auto block dummy to go into crouch block animation before it hit, which made me get random results (it only does this for a while after being hit, and after wake up from KD). I managed to get consistent results either by recording a down or down-back input, or setting dummy to crouch and selecting all block or no block.

The wakeup fuzzy fireball is very working though, I just tried it with Fei Long (Juri does mk store, sweep, meaty MK fireball). It worked on both player controlled and computer controlled Fei Long, both crouching and crouchblocking.

However, there is an annoying trick related to wakeup fuzzies: You can actually skip the fuzzy frames by doing a normal on your wake. eg. Fei Long can do cr.LP or cr.MK to bypass the fuzzy (and hit you if you’re close enough).

Edit:

And to answer that, yes, it works with Juri just fine. For future reference, that cr.LP trick I mentioned above works for avoiding those wakeup throw shenanigans too ^^ :stuck_out_tongue:

yet i get different results when i try it on fei long. Forward throw back dash med fireball store and release whiffs on crouch block but hits on normal crouching.

I use this setup often in real matches, always hits (blocked) Fuzzy for me >.>;
I recorded Juri when I did the Fei Long test and it would hit Fuzzy when I couch blocked on wake-up with Fei Long.

Edit: iirc the only knock-down we can’t Fuzzy Fuhajin is backthrow, they’re knocked facing the ground so the wake-up animation might be different and not have a standing frame. It could affect Fuzzy tests.

Maybe the setup (or execution) is a frame off or something, and that only hits one of the animations (crouch / crouchblock)? I didn’t try the setup itself, admittedly, just verified that the wakeup fuzzies work as assumed.

I think it might be tech only. If the test (which I believe is true) is a dummy holding db, they’re not quick rising. If this is the case then I suspect the error to be in quick rise vs not quick rise.

Furthermore, I always test my fuzzhajins on a quick riser because im looking for immediate throw setups.

I just noticed this thread in the Ryu forums: [thread]262800[/thread]. As I suspected, even Ryu fears U1, even with that 3-frame reversal.

You know i saw this a couple of nights ago too. I like how they were like, “Don’t hadoken, Juri can punish that shit from anywhere on the screen.” How right they are >=D

It’s because fuhajin kick destroys Shoryuken clean. Ex shoryu will beat it but others get killed at the right distance or stuffed if timed and spaced wrong.

I destroy ryu in the corner.

I didn’t know that fuhajin could beat shoryu, interesting. How reliable is it, like can you beat non-EX shoryu’s 100% if you know its coming?

About U1, I’ll repeat once again what I’ve said before: I believe FSE is where the money’s at in most matchups. Its seriously retardedly hard to block FSE mixups when done well. And the “they’ll just mash reversal” argument is moot, how do you ever land any damage on characters with a reversal? FSE just ups the stakes, normally if your shoryuken is baited, you eat a big combo. If an FSE Juri baits your shoryuken, you pretty much lost the game.

@ Kail

Regarding the standing 1 frame, it happens regardless of quick rise or not. Holding down / downback will not help this. The only way to bypass the 1 standing frame is by using a crouching normal as a wakeup move. You automatically bypass the one standing frame and lead into your wakeup normal. Crouch teching is obviously the most useful thing to do. Crouch teching is great vs Hakans 360+K grab, as well as vs Guy’s EX Bushin Flip loop and Cammy’s Hooligan Combination.

I know how it works because I used to do Guy’s EX Bushin Flip on my opponents wakeup on a daily basis lol. Guy’s hurts too. A lot. 200 damage per Bushin Flip.

really easy to beat though if you know how it works.

I just noticed how many scrubs there are in the Ryu forums lol. So much shit talk in one thread thats insane, doesnt really matter, that write up barely goes beyond the basics of the matchup, they dont really seem to understand the full extent of our tools.

I wouldn’t say scrubs, but hell, it’s like the guy took notes from a couple of matches and called it a day.
I mean, he tells people to fear Juri’s speed, then gets angry when someone tells him it isn’t the case? What the hell?

Also, Fuhajin Store beats DPs? I can’t wait till I get home and test this.

lmao, that guy is clueless, tango bro theres no point in telling that dumbass the facts, even if its true, the guy is too clueless when it comes to juri in general.

I see the shoryu come out and they get reset. I immediately go low as most are fadcing it and they’re not blocking.

I do believe it beats it out. I see the reversal and they’re reset. Nothing else would cause a reset.

Remember. It’s a fireball… Fireballs beat ryu dp.

This is seriously new to you guys? I thought you knew? I could be wrong…
