Can you upload pictures of the inside of the case?
The pics on the site are a bit confusing. The yellow sticks shown each have three button holes cut on opposite sides? Is the standard layout 8 buttons top and three buttons on one side of your choosing? 8 buttons with 3 on each side? Is it possible to get 6 buttons on top, 2 on the right, and 3 on the left with no extra cost?
Yes, I will get a couple up here momentarily.
The bottom can be rotated 180 degrees allowing side buttons to be on your left or right, whatever is more comfortable/convenient. That’s why the yellow cases look different, to show that it can mounted either way. The standard layout is 8 on top (viewlix style) and the three on the side (centered in a line). Unfortunately, taking some off the top and moving them to the side isn’t a minor change and would be considered a one-off.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
No problems!
Done!
Cool. That last pic is way big though when you expand it.
Im not interested in purchasing or anything, but I just want to say that the product looks clean and sturdy.
Simplistic, clean, nice.
Good stuff!
Thanks DJYin. I really wanted to create a strong well constructed case that would give people options other than modding an existing case.
Can you make other case tops like the hitbox one? Or preferably custom ones that have the direction buttons set up in a wasd format.
rough estimate on how much it would cost for a complete stick…buttons, stick, dual mod PCB? nothing special just basic stuff…just to have a rough idea
Miikey, the fully built stick is $290 + Shipping. Your choice on Seimitsu/Sanwa Buttons, JLF or Crown. Comes with a PS360+ and either the USB/RJ45 jack.
I can do custom designs, keep in mind that the custom design would come with a custom cost which may be considerably more than the current TankStick. Within the cost of the current case I can do any 8 button layout for no additional charge, hence the Viewlix and Noir options.
For everyone, you can see the write up and pricing scheme beyond a “case only” solution here: https://www.jasenscustoms.com/product.php?productid=8&cat=0&page=
I really like the design, I have built quite a few of my own sticks. Have you considered making anything dreamcast agetec sized? If you did I would be very interested in picking one up.
I considered a lot of options based on the stuff available on the market. I chose this size because of the comfort and final cost. If I made it much larger the cost would be higher due to the amount of metal, if I made it smaller it wouldn’t be comfortable to use.
Ultimately, if enough people wanted a “special” run of sticks I could design it and price it out. One off designs tend to be about double the cost of the TankStick simply due to volume. The Agetec sized case might be a good example. It wouldn’t have the curves and shapes like it, but the general width and length would be the same as well as the button layout and stick placement.
Wow, these look super awesome, and the vinyl wraps are a huge plus; I hope business goes well for you. Keep us posted if you’re ever able to make hitbox layouts a standard thing.
If someone can provide a template (measurements are very nice to have) I can redesign the top and see if removing the stand offs for the joystick and the additional 3 holes cancel eachother out and keep the price the same. So far I haven’t found much in the way of a good accurate template.
I’m very interested in buying one of your cases, but I’m worried about the top of the case rusting due to sweaty hands. I don’t think this is a problem for cases made of plastic. Is this a legitimate concern?
Gamer, no it isn’t a concern. The sticks are all powder coated which creates a finish similar to paint but much stronger (powder coat uses a powder that is electrostatically applied to the metal that is then heated so it “melts” bonding it to the metal). This insulates the metal, so to speak, from the oxygen and water of the atmosphere and any rubbing from the hands, etc. These will not rust.
Very cool cases! I’m gonna be looking sometime in the future and will keep you in mind. Another size would be great to, I would prefer a vlx style case.
Very cool. Where in VA are you? Can we do local pick up to off set the shipping?
