Well what are you looking to spend? Its hard to really look for something cause the prices are all over the place. You can PM the reply if you want, but there are VFWs too that could be good places as well to look for.
Mike what we could do for a venue is contact keits and see if we can possibly run frostyz @ the hotel he had MWC at? One way we could try and run it.
nice! this is so good, is this gonna happen in IL? Just wondering, and can’t wait to see how my BB: CS skills have been doing…
^
Are you in chicago?
So… any new news?
Yeah any word on whatsup Bozac?
I mailed the hotel that MWC was run at this year, last week. I still havnt gotten a reply from the staff. I also mailed my brother 2 weeks ago asking him to check it out for me. He hasnt gotten back to me either. Theres really not much else I can do. If someone wants to check the place out and ask them for me, its located very near the old hotel we used, off of Milwaukee Ave just past Lake. If you can help out, take a drive down there, and ask the staff about reserving space, please send me a PM and I will give you the information I need you to ask them for me.
this is like the biggest all in 1 day event in the MW… i missed it last year, and all i heard from my floor contacts was “Wolfkrone is raping boys!!!”… but i’ll def try to make this…
jeezus christ defiling bhuddah’s blunt wrap!.. man the tourney schedule is packed solid from November to… friggin summer… i’m loving this… who says that winter is the tourney off season?.. cuz they are now liars
What about nickle city?
I havnt been to Nickels or talked to Amar in years. Has anyone been there or talked to him recently? I suppose I could ask him. Can someone give me info on the current situation with nickels?
I think no one has been to nickels seriously since the last mwc held there.
Thanks for the suggestions. I just sent an email to the St. Charles Center and the Comfort Inn in Des Plains. Hopefully they will reply soon. I still havnt gotten a reply back from the MWC hotel. I asked a few people to look into it for me but I havnt heard back from any of them either.
Hopefully we will find something soon. Its rather frustrating because theres not much else I can do at this point so I just hope one of these places replies, or one of the guys who said they would check it out for me gets back to me.
Danomighty… when you suggested the St Charles convention center, I failed to realize it was St Charles MO and not St. Charles IL. I mailed them and they actually are offering a nice rate but theres no way I could hold it there. Its just too far, and my flight back to Japan leaves the next morning.
Anyway, im currently looking into other stuff. Ill keep everyone updated.
So I have a general question for everyone and I want everyones opinions. About how many people do you think this event will pull? The answer will effect what size space we rent. Last year FF had maybe no more than 150 people as far as I can remember. However, I was told MWC had about 350. How have other midwest majors been as far as numbers? I havnt been back to the US in a year so please excuse me if Im a little out of touch with this. The last time I was home, Super wasnt even out yet, so I dont know how big of an impact this has had on entry numbers.
About how many people play in Chicago these days that come out for gatherings and larger tournaments? What about other midwest areas?
I had a blast at FF2, I’m hoping you guys find a venue. More MI people will show for FF3 for sure.
there hasnt been a major or a big tournament in chicago at all this year except mwc. youll probably pull around the same number of ppl who came last year. I had fun last year and am looking forward for this to happen
I dunno guys… like… to be honest, its lookin kinda grim. The MWC place is kinda pricey and given that there hasnt even been an official announcement on this and its already late November, I dont really see a lot of people coming really far for this. With what that venue is asking for us to rent it, I doubt we would cover the cost and I cant afford to take a huge financial hit if a lot of people dont come since I could barely afford to buy my ticket to come visit in the first place…
So… I really dont know but I may just have to cancel the event, or perhaps just let someone else organize it if they want to take the initiative. If someone else wants to organize it I will still support it and provide equipment and help run tournaments, but its just too difficult at this point for me to really find a venue it seems. So, if the community really wants this to go down, someone is gonna have to step it up. The only place that I know we could do it at is Galloping Ghost but there wouldnt be a pot bonus cuz they would be keeping all the entrance fee money.
Any thoughts?
i wouldnt care if it was a gga. pot bonus is a plus but REALISTICALLY 95% of the ppl attending wont win any tournaments so unless people really care for pot bonuses, id be down for just entry fee. I dont know about others but we need to get tournys going again in the midwest. Chicago is the biggest city and there are no tournys to be seen. Last year when vanilla was out there were tournys left and right but now its once in a long time. I really hope this happens
