Sounds like making the dojo into a legacy event would be the best option. Is there any way we could help rally this forward through petition or the like? You’ve done so much for the community, let us know how we can help build five guages for the dojo!

@tasty Mind me picking your brain on Dante next time we meet? I’ve been playing around with him this week, mostly practicing the easy-mode BnB and slowly getting a feel for Bold Canceling. I plan to give him a serious go on Team Dive Kick now, he’s good fun :tup:
@linknights - I’ve been meaning to dust off my Chris this week for tips, but never got around to it. However, check out Combofiend’s performance at this past WNF, he played Chris/Wesker/Dorm for a good portion of the tourney and did some neat stuff (esp with OTG followups)! One thing I notice Chris players aren’t doing, but should, is hit-confirming flamethrower into the Sweep Combo… just be sure to hold down C while buffering the input 623+AB. And always make sure to have a Landmine on the stage to help cover quick approaches from the opponent that you may not be able to counter otherwise.

Tonight and yesterday I got to play in some mini sessions and I’ve come to the firm conclusion that mystic ray is amazing on point or as an assist. I can see much sadness in future battles against shuma teams D:.
Been playing MvC3 with GG people. This game is so anime.
@taozen: The first step after learning the BnB is to find the uses for all his specials. I’ve been playing him a month and I think I know about half of them x__x. Bold canceling is purely an execution thing. Many top players still can’t do it consistently, I’ve only recently started doing advanced BnBs in actual matches, so don’t trip if you’re still doing the Day 1 stuff. It works XD.
I’ll try to make the meet this Friday. Bringing ice cream on Saturday. What are people’s preferred flavors? I can get maybe 2 or 3.

I have a hatred for nuts, otherwise if it is ice and it is cream it is good. 
I’ve been watching Natsu no Arashi and I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner since I like Shaft. It has so much randomness in it, but it makes sense after a while. I’m almost done with the series, and there’s a second season too.
Also, it’s been bugging me for a while, but does anyone have problems posting on SRK? I leave my account logged in and then sometimes when I want to post it won’t let me and tells me to go back and refresh the page, which I’ve already done a couple of times before posting. Then I have to sign out and in to post. Sometimes I still have to refresh and then it randomly lets me post. I don’t even know how many times I will have to try to make this post itself work. And the same thing happens when I try going to advance post.

Real talk: the part in Metal Gear Solid 1 (yes, I am still playing this game) where you have to run back to the blast furnace to heat the PAL key is a clear case of shitty game design.
Is there a quicker way to do this?

That said, one of the more interesting things the show does is that it makes me feel like it was set in the 60s/70s, even though it’s actually set in contemporary times (when the sunglasses dude pulls the cell phone out in the first episodes, I was kinda reminded of my initial impression of Super Bad when Seth whips his phone out and I learned that this was actually a movie set in recent memory).
That said, I finally sat down and watched FLCL and… for starters, I’m still pretty convinced that Hiroyuki Imaishi is a more interesting animator than he is a storyteller (I’m pretty sure he directed episode 5, but I didn’t read the credits… in any event, he’s a prominent animator on staff).
With regards to exploring the topic of disgruntled/disillusioned youth (Naota gets lead on by various people in the show and finds himself constantly in the shadow of other people [like his older brother], but what clearly demonstrates that he still has some growing up to do is how he chooses to handle it), I think I much prefer Alien Nine since, outside of not playing with the audiences perception of growing up (like the usual Gainax drug, you inadvertently wish you were the main character who is surrounded by all the cute girls… as opposed to actually identifying with the character), I feel like it made a better job of using surreal motifs in order to convey the pains of growing up (the girls are confronted with the responsibility of taking care of monsters as a “rite of passage”… it doesn’t always necessarily make sense, but the sheer foreignness of growing up in the eyes of a child is conveyed: the adults go on about it as if it was nothing, but the children are clearly horrified by the experience).

Actually, I don’t know how many people would know about this, but Gainax went to Madhouse at one point to produce Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, which is actually pretty similar to FLCL in terms of how hectic it is…
But, like FLCL, I felt that the show was strongest when it just slowed the hell down and depicted kids struggling with growing up (essentially, Abenobashi’s first episode).

That said, interesting works about youth/coming-of-age that I liked, would be:
Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Nobody Knows: the story about 4 children who are abandoned by their mother in an apartment and how the eldest son has to take care of everyone.
Aureus Solito’s The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros: the story of a transgendered kid in Metro Manila who falls in love with a cop, but lives with a family of thieves.
I… can’t think of anything else for the moment, but I would likely consider Gus Van Sant’s Paranoia Park as an excellent movie about youth as well: the story of a night at a local skate park gone horribly wrong.
I don’t like Natsu no Arashi only because I wish there was more School Rumble. But SHAFT = win, almost always. And yeah, since the update SRK posting is kind of weird sometimes.
This reminds me that a lot of shows needs to wrap up their fucking relationship arcs.

the dojo is moved to sunday from 2-10 in mary park hall because i am on the duty shift on the weekend.
