this thread is dedicated to the GOAT frankie3s. dude figured out 99 percent of what makes ryu the character he is today. he is the only American player the Japanese learned anything from. Japanese top ranked ryus today are xcopies of him. American ryus are xcopies of him. people don’t remember back in the day people outside socal thought denjin was a useless super. anyway, lots of other legends in so cal but haven’t seen this dude in almost a decade. thanks for listening B)
is birthing hundreds of denjin players a good thing?
Haha, I’m sure he didn’t mean to.
Cheers Frankie3S.
Could have sworn it was Mopreme who popularized Denjin Ryu.
Anyways, I remember doing Denjin traps because it was the only way that made sense. Nobody claimed to create them because they were logical.
Were people in so cal really throwing long ranged dejins before your sacred frankie3s? XD
yeah there’s a reason no one says:
“whoa remember duckcanoe and his sick denjin ryu”
i’m sure plenty of people had sweet setups for denjin…
in training mode playing 3S on ps2 in their bedroom.
All I’m saying is pretending ONE guy from so cal made denjin setups is hilarious.
and then saying all japanese players stole it from him
that’s even FUNNIER.
and on top of that, this guy saying nobody else in socal could come up with the setups
just wow.
not to mention this guy said he’s GOAT.
LOL what kind of nut hugging is this?
and then you coming to insult me and defend him
hahahaa fucking scrub ass nuthuggers.
PS: I played at the arcade, never touched the PS2 version, scrub.
Lol. What’s going on in here.
I was under the impression thank frankie developed denjin ryu too. there were a lot less denjin ryu players when i started.
I’ve heard from a few players that Austin also believes they invented denjin. I’m curious who is right!
Frankie and Daigo were both very similar. Both legendary, revolutionary, and one of the best at their times. Certainly bought in their respective fan base.
Many people have now eclipsed and evolved from their old styles.
Vanao revolutionized the setups.
Kuni revolutionized the charges.
Kuroda also played a role as early as 2007.
Arnel is super arcades version of this guy!!!
God damn right
definitely agree there
gotta admit,i am not a fan of that super and the “fuck it” style that often comes with it (yolo srk / tatsu to score a knockdown etc etc)
i prefer the more “chirurgic” approach of kuroda or mov
in any case - i am sure frankie3s,back in 2003/4,was a strong,inspiring player
and considered very brave for maining denjin ryu (also very entertaining to watch)
plus, can’t say anything about negative him - we have very similar ringnames !
having said that,to think that the japanese 3s community,in 2004,was completely dumb / clueless about,oh,charging a denjin or how st mp x hadou xx den was a good setup…
sorry,but that’s pretty naive / dumb : sounds like a western myth
Japan brought aegis and genei jin to America. I’m sure they knew all the fancy ways to knock someone down and throw an unblockable super at them.
history lesson time! Japan was clueless to the denjin. proof? find me one japanese vid before say, 2005 when they first played against frankie of someone using denjin ryu. you’re not going to they all thought it was as useful as stungun headbutt. it wasn’t until frank did extremely well against japanese players in Nebraska that they became aware of its potential.
as for Texas, not only did mopreme not use/develop denjin he mocked it. he only used sa2 and there used to be smack talk between mopreme and frank, given that they were considered two of the best ryus in America. eventually it seems his opinion changed as well.
Frankie3S had been playing before that (I recall vids of him from 2002 in the old denjin video webpage) and I think what the OP meant was that the japanese didn’t look at it as an effective strat. Like I’m sure Fujiwara could still own with SA2 but cmon in serious tourneys he gonna go SA1/SA3. Don’t think anyone else really played seriously with Denjin before (at least in 3S, I know 2I had two bars)
Yeah Frankie invented it and definitely was the one who took it to the highest level at his time. 2002-2006 or so.
Japan didn’t start taking it serious until 2006 or so when Kuroda and Vanao stepped up with it.
Everyone else before then were still using SA1 thinking it was his best super. (Namijin, Ruu, Y2j, Magu for Japan and Mopreme, Alex Valle for U.S)
when I asked Mopreme about kara shin sho in Vegas he said it’s not useful. I was heartbroken. is the shin sho dream dead?? no, I will always believe.
