@TheCape Moving this to keep videos denser in the other thread.
So you can actually do TK Scattershot xx Gimlet and Net Arrow for the hard tag as they do the slow fall…It’s possible there’s potential there, but the problem is the combo doesn’t seem to work in the corner. If there were a way to make it work, however, a simple cr.H sj.MMHS f.M (dash) s.S sj.MMHS into Trick L~M [Slow Fall Ender] would actually get more than enough hits to give level 4 with a simple Hard Tag, Jam Session, Snap x2.
I saw you posting on the Hawkeye combo thread and getting no help whatsoever (my experience a week or 2 ago was pretty similar), but at least it shows that there might be other ways to land a Net Arrow into a hard tag.
As for your suggestion: As far as I can tell, you can’t Trick L~M Net Arrow, but if you could it would definitely solve the whole problem. I can’t be sure it’s not my execution, but I think I was getting it buffered correctly, so probably it’s a no-go.
I do think the Net Arrow setups are worth exploring a little more, though.
With Dante, you can do cr.LM st.H xx Stinger xx Bold Move xx Volcano, air MH Air Play, air H (land), dash forward + S~H (once) xx Prop Shredder, Acid Rain xx Devil Trigger, tag in Frank, (dash forward if mid-screen) st.S, air S xx Knee Drop, Snapshot + Jam Session, Snapshot
It barely gets you to Level 4, and if you started the combo off of a j.H like Dante is prone to do, it’s at least meter neutral, and maybe a little positive. The trick is to visually confirm at least the first Acid Rain ball hitting on the way up, then Devil Trigger. Also since it’s meter neutral, depending on when you time the Snapshot after Jam Session, you can do Survival Techniques for a total of like almost 600k, or you can Snapshot a tiny bit earlier so they tech out of Jam Session and you can do FFC.
Definitely my new go-to if I need low damage levels outside the corner. Sick looks man
Also, there’s a chance you might be able to tack something on to the end. I’m pretty sure I remember Cape saying that if you do Snap + Jam Session reallyyy fast you can Tools M in time. I’m gonna try it next time I’m on just in case cause it’d add a little extra meter/damage. Never a bad thing if it’s not too hard (assuming it’s possible).
If you could double snap AND Tools M, that’d be amazing, but I doubt it haha. Single Snap + Tools M might have some potential, but if I recall I don’t think there’s time to Knee Drop after a Level 3 Tools M.
Man, if there was, this could become an almost Level 5 combo and I’d have won ALL the internets.
Haha dude so true. And yeah you can do (Jam Sesssion) Snapshot, Tools M, but it’s really not worth the trouble lol. First, it’s hard to time that, second it’s potentially impossible to get a Snapshot off of Tools M from at least some (or maybe all) screen positions (at least I certainly couldn’t do it). I was hoping you could get the wall bounce and Snapshot reallyyy low to the ground to help beat techs if you went into FFC.
So yeah, close, but totally useless
I’m gonna lab it more for fun (I gotta practice it anyway) because there might be a little more you can do. If you do an Airplay combo with Dante instead of the Killerbee version, you can follow up with (tag Frank) s.S sj.S, (falling) j.Tools H s.H(+Dante) xx Snapshot (has to be fast), Snapshot.
Adds slightly more meter but it’s obviously muchhh harder to do Airplay into Acid Rain outside the corner. Not practical, but I’m just interested in seeing what can be squeezed out of it haha
So guys here’s a curious one. The other day I was playing versus a friend of mine and level 1 frank came in. I got a hit on him but his magneto had such low health that not even a BLS > Veil of Mist > raw tag would work because he’d die before the picture. So between knocking him down after the relaunch and doing snapshot xx BLS, I called call star to just guarantee he’d die without spending an unnecessary bar. Thing is he didn’t die and Cold Star had a really weird effect. It raised Magneto’s body to the point where he was just above frank’s shoulder. I reacted quickly and realised I could link a launcher after that, which did kill him. And this was in the corner! Unfortunately I’ve been unable to record it on training mode because sometimes cold star actually causes the opponent to drop out of the hyper altogether, which sucks, but I found it really interesting and as soon as I can get video footage I’ll show it to you. Has anyone else ever tried something like this?
Fizzykups: You can do (Dante) Snapshot Tools+M (at any level) then follows are:
Level 1/2: S
Level 3: S, QCF+M, or Knee Drop
Level 4: S, QCF+M, Knee Drop, let them fall, etc
If you can get the timing down, its MUCH better to do than double picture. You can also picture, super jump, knee drop. Its tight, but can be done.
Blightning: If the opponent floats to the top of the wall bounce hitbox (its a good deal bigger than the others) then you can launcher or jab in the corner. I’ll see if I can find a video of it. My guess is that you hit them as high off the picture as you could and they only got the up hitting cold star hits (not the first).
That’s interesting I didn’t think of an S follow up. Theoretically you might be able to triple picture it then if your second assist fit the bill… Something like [fuzzykips’ combo] (Jam Session) Snapshot, s.S sj.S, Knee Drop (Dark Hole) Snapshot x2. Maybe hitstun wouldn’t allow it, but at least the sequence is there, and the Dante combo before the tag is really short.
Really though, you can time prop shredder to give a huge window after the tag. Going straight from the tag to Snapshot+assist would probably have a high chance of giving a triple picture. Definitely labbing it more for fun.
So using Jam Session into Tools M -> Knee Drop, I proceeded to use Dark Hole assist to make this a 1 bar Level 5 combo, with the option of using the 2nd bar to get 731k. Neat. Would probably try to find a way to make it into a FFC reset, though.
To add to this, I discovered that you can actually do a j.S after the tag, then Snapshot + Assist, st.S -> j.S, Snapshot + Assist [+ Snapshot). It’s pretty neat. With my team I do Dark Hole on the first Snap, relaunch, spike down, Knee Drop to get there faster, Snap + Jam Session, Tools M, quickly Snapshot again, then the opponent techs in the air leaving them open for FFC. If they tech forward they avoid it though, but I will be labbing a way to get around that.
I found in playing with Shady Penguin that he does a jab reset in the corner and then rolls into the corner to FFC. It will autocorrect and catch all techs on people without air options.
I don’t play Strange so I could be wrong, but since I don’t think eye of agamotto (sp?) launches the opponent at all, it seems like what he’s doing is getting the opponent into an Eye, teleporting above, flying, and just sitting there. Since Thor’s kind of riding up the Eye, he gets to a point where Strange is already occupying the space dictated by his (Thor’s) trajectory and he’s forced out toward midscreen where there’s room for him.
If that’s true, it might not be possible on the smallest characters, though. I’m not sure about that.
Here’s something i came up with for my team, i still can’t do it consistently but it is definitely a practical combo off of a raw M.Mighty Strike. You have to finish the combo in the corner but it goes from the middle to the end of the screen so it shouldn’t be a problem. Also I’m not sure how Wesker can help Frank level up so tips would be helpful, hope you enjoy.
Pretty sick, i also thought of the double overhead but i figured it wouldn’t always be useful so i came up with what i did. Really nice combos and level ups, would you happen to play ps3?
I cleaned up the first post so its a bit easier to maneuver and have some new ideas to test tonight for a few characters. Does anyone have anything that I can add to the list?
