Fort Wayne, IN - someone please post something for crying out loud

sounds good. i’ll keep in touch for updates.

Wish I could have made it yesterday, was close to coming but I knew I shouldn’t. Definitely was not expecting the U.S. team to advance in ST, that’s good to see though.

Brent ? I sent you a PM that you might like.

MILAN!!!
I CHALLENGE YOUUUU
TO TEKKEN TAG TWOOOOO!!!

Ive always wanted to say that! :bgrin:

BTW I cant come to SB5. Good luck to all you guys at that tournament.

Yo, what i’m wondering is when Milan is going to play SSFIV, along with Clem. Lol

We need to get that Fort Wayne Fighting Conference (or maybe IPFW (I Play the F’in Winner) or (iPlay Fort Wayne) idk, still working on something) club at IPFW rolling ASAP. The sooner the seriously the better. Unless we can get confirmation that we can use that conference room w/o being a club (provided that it’s not already being booked), then I guess it can take a back seat. It just seems that IPFW seems to be the best option to play at right now, so I think we should get all up on that while we can. I’ll talk to Gary about it sometime this week (hopefully today).

Also, Martell, Welcome, we hope to see you and J…damnit I’m bad with names, soon.

And FJ, glad to see you finally post. Keep it up, it feels like it’s hit or miss when it comes to trying to get in contact with you hahahaha.

Nasty Nose yo i’ve missed you dude like since that Cincy trip. i’m saddened to hear you can’t accompany us to SB5.

and i don’t think i’ve ever “hit” yet when trying to call FJ on the phone in the past 2 years, i always “miss” i still await that day when he actually picks up.

FJ says he will start really focusing on the club after SB5. i guess if someone else like Gary or Clem wanted to get things rolling sooner then they would be more than welcome to. but we all need to collectively make sure we are on the same page for this. i have already spoken with FJ (assuming he was going to be the club starter) and we both agree that some things are going to have to change from our normal group routine if we are to make this ipfw club thing a reality and our new form of playing.

i hope some others in this group have put a little thought into it like we have. sadly i can only watch from the sidelines and try inserting ideas or advice here or there. i am not a student so i can’t be hands on, which is fine. it will have to be FJ, Gary, or Clem. if i had to guess, “organization” is a big aspect of handling a club. we currently just show up whenever we want and just play until, ehhh, whenever. think 8pm or 9pm until 2am. well i somehow don’t believe that will fly anymore. we will have to have a specific day chosen which probably isn’t a concern to us. we typically play Saturday nights anyway so, there, we have our day. or Friday could work too. i guess that’s something we can discuss but i’m assuming Saturday would be the choice. ok now we need a time slot. IPFW probably wants us out of there by 10:30pm or 11pm at the latest if i had to guess. so we would have to start making our club ‘meetings’ from 4-10 or 6-10 i guess? what is a good time slot? FJ and i have already talked about this. whoever goes to the appropriate person/committee and pitches our idea needs to have it together and organized and make it sound good. no offense but i think FJ would be a good person for this for sure. perhaps FJ, Gary, and Clem should go do this together even, as a team and they can back each other up during this process.

i guess my main point is please let’s properly prepare ourselves for this and do it right. the first step is surely just getting the ok. then it would be advertising and trying to get more interest built either through flyers on campus and around local video game stores, announcements on ipfw.edu (they want clubs to advertise on their website), perhaps even collaborating events with other clubs such as the anime club (we should actually try to find out what other clubs are out there and what they are doing from time-to-time). the worst thing that could happen to our club would be no one joins and we just have our own regular crew to play with each week, and that’s not a terrible thing at all. haha.

if anyone else had ideas or knows about how this stuff works please chime in. actually i cannot forget Martell and his friend Jarell (spelling???). i’ll just call him J like Spencer does. haha. those guys might be able to help too if they wish and should feel more than welcome to.

— edit —

also worth mentioning is something FJ brought up in our chat and it’s a good idea. if/when we get this thing going and hopefully get some new members our core group (we know who we are) must be very accommodating in order to help keep folks coming back and even branching out towards more new expansion in numbers (more heads). just common sense things like being kind and respectful to everyone (don’t tell a new guy that his game Smash Bros. sucks hardcore, nor do we tell a beginner at SF or BB that he is terrible), be willing to lend instruction sometimes or answer questions they have about learning a new aspect of a game (teaching about frame traps or option selecting), refraining from showing anger and throwing temper tantrums, etc. i’m not naming any names but i think i pretty much ambiguously covered most or all of us in those generic examples. i’m not your dad or your boss we if this is going to be a club this changes things. we are currently our own little private clique but we are talking about opening ourselves up to the public in a sense so we must have standards and look good in keeping these standards.

BAD NEWS: Reserving a room for the next couple of weeks is out of the question. We must first submit or create an organization with an advisors/teachers signatures. The form needs to be submitted and approve by student government. Once the organization is started it takes another 5 to 10 days to secure a place. Of course there is a lot more to it than that!

GOOD NEWS: I have the forms.

1st we need to create an official name for the organization.

Gary, I figured as such.
Will a teacher or adviser need to be present during the " meetings"? That could pose a problem on when we can play.
Another problem is what we have available for this weekend.

Additionally, if we do start to get new people, we will have to be sure to label our stuff and ensure it is accounted for, more people = higher chance for things to come up missing.

I would like to help out as much as I can, but I’m not a student there, much of this is out of my hands, but I would like to help in whatever way I can.

Brent - Why can’t you be my dad/boss? That would be sweet.

Sorry guys, I just got onto this thread been playing Reach with a friend all of yesterday. Brent, I got your messange and thanks for the info and forms Gary. I can see where we would have a few stumbles there, but if we pull this off we could get a stable schedule for our sessions.

No…

Sup guys? I’ll probably be challenging a few of you on PSN to SSFIV. Just be ready!! I decided to narrow it down to three characters I want to get better with. Abel/M. Bison (Dictator)/T. Hawk.

Can’t say that I would reccomend the T. Hawk for SSFIV. If you are really looking for a grappler then Zangief is the way to be.

If the club is gonna go in motion I get a pretty nice discount at the FedEx for any kind of printing. Signs, flyers, etc. So use and abuse it while we can.

hey guys i’m up too late and saw this post by Fugee…

Monday, October 12 is the cutoff. you must register by then or you can’t attend SB5.

Ryan - don’t be posting in here without saying hi to your boss. on 2nd thought, do you have any avatar making skills? i need a new one still

lol not so much in the creating department but in the stealing, yes. I actually found a really cool wallpaper of vega. It’s my current. 4walled just search vega. I also needed to ask you a question about vega’s tattoo. How does it connect from the back to the arm?

Ryan - i searched Vega on that. i got some mixed results. haha.

ok guys there was some talk of starting some of the SSF4 pools on Friday but i think they are pulling back from that already. however anyone wanting a ride from me should still plan on going Friday. i will figure out a time soon. i’m like 90% sure i’m leaving Friday. they might announce an ST team tourney on Friday in which case that would make it 100%.

speaking of ST teams … … …

Boss - You never answered my question.

Well I don’t necessarily have to play the grappler style with T. Hawk. There are other ways to play him. I do use the Mexican Typhoon, but T. Hawk can do so many other things too.

Ryan - i dunno man, that whole tattoo is very large and raps around his torso and arm somehow. very complitcated.

Gary - i am 5 episodes into One Piece and enjoying it thus far. pirates rule man! you are right, Luffy is quite a bit like Dhalsim in some ways.

i would like to see Jason Cole and John Rambo in a Dhalsim match …

I can read you like a book, son. Oh, people and their pirates, I will never understand this strange fascination…
